"It's fine if they have forgotten that we are coming to the capital, but what kind of accommodation is this! They split us up and we have to stay at different locations! Look at our surroundings! Is it a place fit for people to live?" Shao Chun gestured around the room in disdain.

They were in an ordinary guest house. There were two beds and a big closet in each room. Some of the rooms even had ensuite bathrooms! It was already considered quite a nice place. Xia Guang was concerned about how it would look on Xia Xing and had found guest houses which were considered above average. Otherwise, the Shao family members could have found themselves in even worse places!

It was puzzling why the Shao family despised these guest houses. Their own houses back in their hometown were not even as nicely fitted out as the guest houses! Among all of them, only Shao Xian settled down quietly without any complaints.

"Shao Xian! You should speak up for your eldest uncle! You were still mocking Xia Xing just now, yet you don't have anything to say now," Shao Tu said.

"Don't you feel tired after traveling for the whole day? Since we already have a place to stay, then let's go to bed. It's not like we're only staying in the capital for only one day. If you're not satisfied with this guest house, then ask the Xia family to let you stay in another place!" Shao Xian said resignedly.

Even though he did not like Xia Xing, he disliked Shao Zhuang's family even more. He just could not stand the way Shao Zhuang's family members behaved. They were just poor people who behaved like they were rich. The main reason though, was that he was really tired and needed a good rest.

Shao Zhuang and Bian Duo sat next to the bed with solemn expressions. This whole situation was too different from what Shao Yin had described to them, and also very different from what they had imagined.

Shao Yin had said that the Xia family lived in a grand house and even had two to three helpers in just one house. Furthermore, their house was so big that a person would not be able to explore the whole place within a day. There were even many rare treasures at home, all of which were rare items that most people had never seen before.

The women from the Xia family were also far from ordinary. All of them wore stacks of either gold or silver jewelry. Xia He wore a thick gold necklace! Xu Lan and Liu Fen also wore two very thick gold bangles on their wrists. In comparison, Qiao Mei did not seem to have much money, but she lived in the Xia family's biggest house.

Shao Yin was unaware of the real value of these jewelry items at all. The jade bangle on Qiao Mei's hand was worth eight of Xia He's gold necklace. In fact, it was more valuable than all the gold jewelry which the other three women wore combined.

"Maybe they didn't manage to make the arrangements in time and will move us to another location tomorrow," Shao Zhuang said awkwardly.

"Another location? Where? Don't tell me they want us to move to the village? Have we come all the way here just to take a look at the difference between a village in a small county city and a village in the capital?" Shao Chun said sarcastically.

Bian Duo hurriedly calmed her down. "I don't think so. The Xia family is so well-to-do. Why will they make us stay in that kind of place? Everyone, have a good rest! It's been a tiring day of traveling."

Shao Chun and Shao Tu did not say anything else and returned to their own rooms, leaving Shao Zhuang and Bian Duo sitting on the bed and arguing with each other.

In the end, the reality turned out to be similar to what her father had predicted. Shao Zhuang was not a man whom she could entrust her future to.

From the day Bian Duo married into the family, Shao Chun had constantly targeted her behind her back. Shao Chun mostly spoke very sarcastically and also made up lies about Bian Duo. It was very difficult for Bian Duo to explain herself clearly, so it caused many misunderstandings and she had suffered a lot since then.
