KAILEEN ANDY LEWIS
A week has pa.s.sed since my argument with Erika and everything is back the way it was.
With Claire, well, it could never be better. After that sleep over at her place, we somehow became comfortable like we've come to a common understanding.
'hehehe'
I grabbed my keys on the bedside table and took a moment to stare at my sleepy head girlfriend.
She looked perfect in my eyes and it never gets old.
I took one last glance at her before coming out of the bedroom and exiting my apartment.
Hopping on my car, I headed to my uncle's office to pay him a visit.
I checked my watch, two hours till noon, a perfect time to be treated to a presumptuous lunch—
'hahaha'
Well, that's what I thought until a disaster happened.
"I can't believe you're telling me that I'm getting old."
I rolled my eyes seeing Uncle Art dramatically pouted and faking a cry in his seat.
We were in his office.
"You're not getting old Uncle."
"In fact you've never changed at all."
'You're still so playful as you've always been'
He cleared his throat, "Well, you're the one who has changed babygirl."
I smiled and looked afar off.
I was standing by the window overlooking the magnificent skysc.r.a.pers outside with a cup of coffee in my hand.
"I've changed for the better," I said.
He then got up and joined me like an old man: both hands clasped at his back.
"I'm seeing that you're happy…"
"…I couldn't be more happier for you Sweety, " he gently patted my shoulder.
I smiled.
Well, Artemio Marshal, my ever supportive uncle; the kindest and the sweetest imaginable lurking behind a façade that simulated a scariest living person.
Guess a common trait in my family.
Then somebody came in, we both turned to take a look and my jaw sunk on the floor after seeing who it was.
"Mr. Marshal," the girl enthusiastically took her stride in.
"Oh, Ms. Trevor," Art acknowledged and met the girl halfway.
I stood frozen as both shook hands then the girl's eyes found mine.
"Andy?" she asked with a quizzical look.
'shoot'
I faked a smile, "Mei".
"Oh, do you know each other?" Art nonchalantly asked.
I eyed him then he snapped as he realized my state.
Well, my uncle knows what I'd been up to with my life: hiding my ident.i.ty and all.
He also knew that I'm the culprit of his daughter, Skylar Marshal's running away from the city life.
'hehehe'
"What are you doing here?" Mei asked with so much curiosity written all over her face.
I gulped, took a side glance at my uncle, then it was as though words had left me, I stood there muted.
I glanced at the direction of my uncle again, pleading for help through my gaze, then back to Mei.
'Think Andy— think'
But nothing comes to mind so again, I tilted my head, searching for my uncle's gaze.
Uncle Art did the same. Basically, we were communicating with our eyeb.a.l.l.s and brows there while Mei was constantly shifting her gaze between me and uncle Art.
"She's my intern, " my uncle finally broke the gazing game.
's.h.i.t'
I eyed him— that was the worst alibi possible.
"Intern?" Mei asked.
"I thought internship was way over last year."
's.h.i.t'
'Think Andy'
'think'
"He… He means 'was' ," I clarified while still eying my uncle.
"The case is, I…I b.u.mped into his car and the side mirror broke."
"Oh," Mei reacted and waited for more details..
"Well, there's insurance but Mr. Marshal wanted a word with me." I explained.
I took a glanced at my uncle and I regretted what I said the moment our eyes met— he's grinning devilishly.
The grin in his mouth was enough to scare me.
"Yeah that's practically it is, " Uncle Art supported then motioned Mei to take a sit.
The grin on his face didn't disappear as he took a seat as well.
"Well, my cars are nothing but expensive," he glanced at me and smirked.
"So I'm thinking, because of my 'boundless mercy' , I won't ask much but a little hard earned labor would suffice."
'the f.u.c.k'
My brows lifted up as well as Mei's.
"She'll be my errand girl for a day."
I almost drop the cup of coffee I was holding.
"You can start now by making coffee for me and one for Ms. Trevor," he ordered while faking a smile and still had that grin on his face.
Mei glanced at me sympathetically.
She contemplated for a moment, I think she wants to help or do something for me but the vibe my uncle was giving off by then put off any attempt she'd been formulating.
Hence, they proceeded to whatever business they are dealing while I complied as instructed like… like I'm some slave.
After I politely laid down their coffee, another task was given; to wipe the dust on every pluck displayed.
My mouth hung low as I stood and wandered my gaze to all the plucks on the view.
There's just so many of them.
'the f.u.c.k'
They've been displayed on a wall shelf filling the entire one side of the wall of that four corner room of his office, trailing from the floor up to the ceiling.
I whipped my neck to shot a glare at my uncle, and the devil just smirked while still on...with his discussion with Mei.
Against my will, I started wiping dust.
'tsk'
After a while, I heard my uncle cursed.
"Oh, s.h.i.t…"
I spun around to take a look, only to see his coffee spilled on the floor.
He dramatically held the mug and wipe some spills on his table then smirked again at me.
I rolled my eyes and went out to get a mop.
I grumpily mopped the floor and eyed him. The devil just stuck out her tongue the chance Mei wasn't looking.
'geeezzz'
Look at him, still a child at heart.
After mopping, I put back the mop in the utility room and I was back to wiping dust.
I occasionally glanced at Mei and my uncle, as my patience was really tried.
'Just how long will their meeting comes to end?'
It felt like an eternity already.
'tsk'
Also, I was unconsciously tapping my foot as I waited for Mei to leave—
'Leave already…'
Yeah, I was like praying that... 'cause I will surely give my uncle a beating the moment Mei stepped out of the room.
'grrrrrr'
Then I heard a shattering of gla.s.s and a dramatic gasp.
I turned and found the shattered mug on the floor along with the spilled coffee.
It was Mei's but—
… but I could clearly see the position of my uncles hand: it was intentional.
I dragged myself out to get a mop again to fix the mess.
My heart lightened up while I was in the middle of carefully cleaning the shattered mug, when Mei bid her goodbye to my uncle.
The devil even tried to prolong the girl's stay.
'Afraid are we?' That was my thought.
I gripped hard the mop's handle as Mei made her way to the door.
The moment I heard the door locked behind her, I swung the mop hard to hit my uncle's face and wipe that grin.
Sadly though, he has good reflexes.
I held the handle both of my hands and pointed the dirty end right at him as we were circling his table.
He was laughing while I was glaring.
"Just what did you make me do, huh?"
"That was a moment of a lifetime babygirl," he's still laughing.
"The heir of the Lewis' mopping the floor, " he quoted.
I was grinding my teeth as I cautiously tried to hit him with the mop but all attempt was in vain.
So I lounged at him making him drift away from circling the table and went to the open s.p.a.ce by the door.
I moved closer to him, eager to land a hit but—
… but the devil found his walking cane on the side.
Yeah, he has a walking cane like an old man.
It was not an ordinary one though, I just knew that. But anyways, his cane was elegant with a wooden shaft and the handle was crafted with an art stone.
And who knows what's behind that elegance, maybe a sword, a dagger or what. Because why else he has a walking cane when he's not even an old man. He's just forty one for goodness sake.
Then right there we fought.
I was really serious of hitting him but after a while I was not able to land a hit even once until we stopped— then we laughed.
We laughed like idiots.
I dropped the mop and gave my uncle a bone-breaking hug.
He tapped my back as we hug.
"When will I able to land a hit on you Uncle?"
He laughed, "Maybe not in this lifetime babygirl."
I chuckled with that then we pull away from the hug.
"It's been awhile," he longingly said.
"Yeah, it's been a while," I said smiling.
We talked after that... down to some random things. Then her secretary came in, excusing herself with a pizza box in hand.
She laid it down on the coffee table then I grinned.
"I'll be taking my leave Uncle Art," I bid my goodbye at the same time got up on my feet.
"Eat some first," he motioned to the pizza but I declined.
When I'm about to close the door behind me, I called my uncle's attention.
"Right, I ordered that pizza—" I paused.
"Like a 'lot' of pizza," then I widely opened the door revealing some employees nibbling.
"… and it's on you." I devilishly smirked and smiled before running away for my dear life.
I could even hear my uncle's cursing from a distance.
'hahaha'
Well, I ordered a 'lot' as in literally a lot. I made sure that every department has enough for everyone. Might as well say... enough for everyone in the entire building.
'hahaha'
Guess I still have the last laugh—
Hahaha
'Not me—'
'hahaha'
