But even if he could not see it nor actually ever truly understand the profundity of this, he was clear on one thing. No matter how miraculously their biology was formed, no matter how intricately complex it's system was, even if it was amped up several times, it would never heal faster than he was being broken down.
Somehow, Zhao Wei found himself spending more time in the land of the dead than the living. By this point he wasn't even sure how much time had pa.s.sed. This whole environment was covered in a thick layer of greenery, the only light he really saw was the glow that seemed to seep in through the forest ceiling. After staying here this long however, he grew unsure of whether that light was the rays of sunlight breaking through to illuminate their festivities in here, or something else entirely.
Either way, it was quite nice to have it's warmth envelop him, that and the warm trickling blood of every ape he beat down were the only sources of heat in this place. After fighting for so long and being beaten in almost every spot of his body, Zhao Wei found himself fighting much like the apes. Not in the sense that he'd a.s.similated their style, but more to the way they didn't wear a shred of clothing.
This of course, was by no means because he found pleasure at being an exhibitionist. But more so towards the fact that no clothing could withstand the constant punishment he received. He had in fact used up more than 5 sets of clothing, all of which tore up after about 3 bouts in here, not leaving even a shred of cloth to cover his privates.
Though to be fair, he did face a far harder challenge than most any primate in the place. His fair if not slightly tan skin made him look like a walking target in a sea of brown and black fur. His only luck was that his stature was medium at best or every ape within a 20 meter radius would be aiming for a piece of him every time he landed.
He wasn't really even clear how far he'd progressed up till now because very time he fell his world seemed like a mix of blood, fur, claws and teeth until such a point where he was too exhausted or caught in an inescapable position where the only choice was to fall and resp.a.w.n again.
But if he did, he'd find that he had been taken out in a minute without defeating anything the first time he entered this place. His last battle resulted in the defeat of 287 apes lasting 45 minutes. Little by little, second by second, b.l.o.o.d.y ape by b.l.o.o.d.y ape he had forged a path for himself in this place.
But even then he could be considered weak. The number was big to say the least, but all he did was fight apes of the outer realm of this place. Take one foot in the middle realm and he found himself in a whole new playing field. He'd thought he was strong enough to enter one time only to be nearly killed in the next moment, and yes he could actually die here.
The coc.o.o.ns worked to heal any injuries, but this was so long as the creature did not die first. In the outer realm, this was close to impossible as none of the apes could kill in one shot, maim and knock unconscious, sure. In the middle however, that was no longer the case. If those outside were normal guys, then the ones in the middle were martial artists.
Somehow they were using different skills which did a number of things for them from hardening their body parts whether for defense or offense, speeding them up, making them more flexible or adding some kind of power to their blows. As Zhao Wei observed them, their attacks seemed to have a flow similar to Tantra in a way, but much more wild and primordial. Where that came from he wasn't really sure, but maybe he'd find out once he was strong enough to enter
In there, they still got hurt from time to time, but life or death depended on each of their capabilities. As much as possible, even if they got hit by a devastating blow, the apes tried to redirect the damage to the least vital parts like the brain or the heart to make sure they lived to fight another day. Right now, Zhao Wei was already rearing to go in there, but he was sure that at this point his chances of surviving in there were less than 30% if he got hit by those attacks. It was separated by nothing but distance, but the moment he stepped forward, it was a whole new world.
