It slowly looked around before every single bite, despite it's better judgement it was still a beast after all, the intelligence did not stop it's beastly nature from coming out, prompting it to continue eating.
As it moved further in, it's tentacles began touching every surface. Suddenly it began to withdraw, Zhao Wei, who buried himself under a lot of sand looked in astonishment. It had no nose, so he a.s.sumed it had no olfactory senses, and really he checked quite a few of of his prey that lived under the sand and found that their noses had actually devolved from lack of use. This one on the other hand didn't use it's nose to smell, instead it used it's whiskers to sense the difference of moisture in the air like traces of sweat or saliva which was almost impossible not to leave.
In some ways it was better than having a nose, like in this case. Usually for most beasts the scent of blood, especially so much blood in one area would drown out all other kinds of smells. By using it's whiskers, the thing had actually been able to differentiate some of the residual traces in the air, probably from Myra and Panda having been here before.
It began to pull back very quickly. Zhao Wei could only curse in his heart as he activated a trigger trap he'd set on his hand. Instantly the shaft of the spears embedded in the land sharks began to secrete the quick cement traps.
Unfortunately for Zhao Wei, it wasn't in the right place yet, the traps which was supposed to coat it's body only caught on to part of it's tail and one of it's back legs as it tried to reenter the sand. Zhao Wei couldn't give it the chance to escape again so he dove out from his hiding and leaped up high.
As he landed he pierced the exact place his quick cement trap had coated it, and for the first time in many hunts, he'd actually done some damage to the thing as he felt his spear break through the crush, into flesh and out the other side. He'd planned to coat it in quick cement to nullify it's abilities to deflect the damage, too bad the timing was off.
Just as he had that thought he saw it's giant mouth heading to cover him.

"Chi Chi Chii Chi" Panda squeaked as she watched Zhao Wei try to take off his clothes, the whole thing was encased in slime.
"I know how I look," Zhao Wei complained.
"Chii Chi Chii Chi Chi" Panda continued as she shook her head at Zhao Wei, it had sunk in all the way, even the places where the sun don't shine.
"Here's an idea, if you know I smell like that, then stop smelling!" Zhao Wei snapped as he threw his perfectly good clothes on the ground.
"Chii Chi Chi Chi Chi...." Panda rolled her eyes at him.
"And who wouldn't be snappy!! I just exited from that thing, do you want to try entering it?" Zhao Wei pointed at the body of the catfish monster behind him, a giant hole was where it's abdomen should be and an unG.o.dly smell leaked out of that very hole as well as Zhao Wei. Yes he'd just drilled out of it's body. And really it was a blessing in disguise when the thing swallowed him, his small body just missed getting crushed by it's teeth as he dove in instead of trying to escape.
Myra ran over and barked communicating what she smelled several times in a row, Panda gave Zhao Wei a look that said 'I told you so.'
The veins bulged in his head, "I think we can all agree that I smell like sh..." Zhao Wei's voice was cut short as he saw Thirteen follow closely behind "..Ower!, I smell like I should shower." Zhao Wei took a deep breath and gave a Thirteen a large smile, although he immediately regretted the former action as his eyes teared up and his nose felt like it was about to shrivel into his face.
"You know... I'm already 12 I know what # is, you don't need to treat me like a child." Thirteen said indifferently.
"I know sweety, but just because we know doesn't mean we should use it." He pulled out the next biggest smile he could force himself to give in this situation.
Suddenly he felt a chill run down his spine as Thirteen gave him an incredibly cold glare, in a lower pitched voice she spoke. "Call me 'sweety' again and I'll make sure you end up exactly like the shi... compost you smell like permanently." With that... threat? Thirteen stormed off.
Zhao Wei's face twitched as he watched the little bundle of joy walk away followed by his furry companions. Everyone's got att.i.tude problems, he thought.
