They were at the castle of the kingdom, the highest elevation there. Just a few blocks behind them was where the evacuation was being conducted. Kitsi seeing this had the urge to just drag Zhao Wei away from this spot. But he insisted that he wanted to stay here, saying something about the view.
"Just wait for a while, I've prepared a little something for it, call it a present from this kingdom." Zhao Wei spoke.
Kitsi held herself back for a little while longer, but in her heart she vowed that if it reached the halfway point, she'd drag Zhao Wei out even if she had to knock him out to do it.
It seemed that the big a%^ best was finally able to leverage itself out of entrance, advancing quickly on the first buildings at the edge of town. Seeing it's speed for the first time Kitsi became even more frantic, the wounds Zhao Wei received outside finally made sense to her. The fact that he lasted so long in a one-on-one against it astounded her even more. Even if they brought the whole kingdom, she doubted if they could last that long.
It reached the first buildings, crushing it underneath it's ma.s.sive body into stones as dust. In less than 5 minutes it had cut through 40% of the whole kingdom and still moving advancing on their position.
At first Kitsi thought Zhao Wei had a plan, with all his fascinating traps, who knew what he had planned. But seeing it move unhindered, she was questioning if he was really just here for the view. Just as she was going to pull him away, she saw his shoulders start to shake. A little at first then more as if he was absolutely giddy looking at the situation unfold.
Finally, when he couldn't hold it in anymore he let out a loud laugh. "It's working!" he screamed.
Turning her attention back to Jormugandr, she tried to see what was making him so happy. She was suddenly extremely confused. Just before, it had advanced on the kingdom like a carnivore at a meat buffet, but in the last few minutes, it had barely reached the 60% mark.
That's when she saw it. The beast was going in a straight line, but all the buildings in the area where it pa.s.sed, from one edge to another crumbled. That on it's own wasn't too weird considering the earthquakes it's movement generated. But what was weird was that all of those crumbled buildings and debris seemed to be following it as it moved, weighing it down.
"You see that!?" Zhao Wei was absolutely ecstatic as he looked at Kitsi, "we'e going to bruy it with this kingdom."
He'd planned this for so long, attaching traps around the whole kingdom. He'd created this trap based on the clay eater's mud, calling it the "Quick-Cement trap". As Jormugandr moved forward and crushed buildings, it activated this trap which clung to it like glue. Best thing was, it wasn't fully based on his mana, else by the time it touched the Jormugandr it would've already broken apart.
No the mana was just a means, what the trap did was that it used material from the object that it was attached to and the thing that activated it before finally solidifying. This meant that the buildings were being bonded to it's scales.
And it wasn't just that, Zhao Wei had put these traps between buildings and even on the inner walls, doing some very illegal sneaking into the houses of other people.
When it knocked down one, it would hit the next building over and so on, causing them to fall like dominoes. This chain reaction was contributed to the layout of the kingdom where each building was built so close to each other, being the absolute best catalyst for this very trap. The beast would be literally carrying with it every single thing it destroyed.
At some point it began to feel the acc.u.mulated weight of it the structures clinging to it, causing it to thrash around even more. But that sealed the deal with it, before the structures could only cling to the bottom half of it's body, but now, the structures began to wrap around it, coating the parts underneath it's head in a layer of light brown.
Everyone, even those at the evacuation point were dumbfounded by the sight of this monstrosity actually struggling so hard. At this moment Chora shouted, "What are all of you staring at!?, are you waiting for it to break out of that!? move!"
Once it saw it's situation however, it decided to just focus on moving forward instead. Although it was much slower due to it's difficulty wiggling while encased in an armor of cement, it was still advancing at a non-negligible pace.
By this time, Kitsi and Zhao Wei could already feel the wind generated by it's struggle as it reached 80% of the distance. "Zhao Wei, it's already working but we should go."
To this Zhao Wei, reached his hand out, asking her to pull him up, the rest of his body hadn't fully recovered. Holding his hand, she saw his feet twitch which changed her expression into shock.
