Starting at 7 AM, these 3 cla.s.ses take up about one hour each, before the next 2 hours are taken up by the students' various majors. There are a few minutes in between each cla.s.s to be used to move between the cla.s.srooms.
The major cla.s.ses ends at noon. Then, the following 2 hours are for lunch. The students can go to the canteen to purchase food for low prices, or they can bring their own food from home to eat.
Compared to the number of students in the school, there aren't enough tables and chairs in the canteen. Benches were built around the trees in the campus, and can be used when people feel like sitting out next to nature, to eat and converse. Otherwise, they can just go back to their cla.s.srooms to eat their food.
Because Nala and Seth are a year apart, and thus do not have their cla.s.ses together, these 2 hours are when they usually meet up to flirt with each other during the daytime.
After lunchtime, the students go to their minor cla.s.ses. Then, after that, they either go home, or go to their club activities, which usually involve training in some occupation or another.
Overall, official cla.s.s time only spans 8 hours, with 2 of those hours being for lunch and free time. Any other studying or practicing, is usually to be done at home.
Currently, Nala is sitting in her history cla.s.s, with a kitty sleeping on her lap, and a cart full of gifts by her side. On her table, is her history textbook, opened to a certain page.
The high school freshman history teacher, teacher Bech, is a man who dresses like an archaeologist despite being a teacher. Just now, he was enthusiastically shouting. "The 4th Emperor of Carnage, Neztec Qora, was an absolute madman!"
"Emperor of Carnage", is a t.i.tle given to any emperors in human history, whom have managed to caused a shocking number of deaths, a number large enough to dye a part of the continent red in the blood of their victims. It is a t.i.tle given to the most powerful of emperors, with the greatest of armies, and the most sinful of records. As can be guessed by the mention of a "4th" emperor of carnage, throughout recorded human history, there haven't been only 1 or 2 such evil emperors.
"Of the 5 emperors of carnage in human history, he was the most unreasonable, most destructive one of them all!"
In terms of countries rules by family lineages, the empires ruled by emperors have always been regarded as the most glorious, followed by the kingdoms ruled by kings, the dukedoms ruled by dukes, et cetera.
Members of n.o.ble lineages such as these usually care much about the territory they own, and would usually try to spread it as much as possible, one way or another. They don't tie themselves down to the size limitations posed by the city ranking system of mortal, immortal, supreme, and celestial, and would try to get as much land as they can, even if this means that they might anger some superior existences.
"90% of mankind in the northern continent, was wiped out in his conquest! This was the statistic gathered from various historical records, and is by no means, an exaggeration!"
Compared to the eastern, western, southern, upper, and lower, continents of this earth, the number of humans on the northern continent is the greatest, to the point that there are some that would call the northern continent, the "Human continent". This is also due to the fact that, of all the 6 continents, humanity has the greatest influence in this one, the northern continent.
"Back in that era over 2000 years ago, the human population on the northern continent, was approximately the same as what it is now. 90% of all the humans on the northern continent, that is over 5 trillion people!" Teacher Bech explained.
"...Back then, human technology wasn't as advanced as it is now. There were no such things as those terrifying nuclear weapons that the supreme cities currently have. In that case, how did Neztec Quor accomplish such a feat? Does anyone have any guesses?"
One smart-looking student raised his hand, ready to answer. He had read the chapter beforehand, and is not hesitant to show off his knowledge. When teacher Bech gave him the green light, he answered. "It was by magic. Although Neztec Quor was known as the greatest sinner of human history, he was also praised as a genius for being able to advance magic research by leaps and bounds during his time."
Teacher Bech nodded. He praised the smart student. "Good job. I see that you have been reading. That is correct, and is one of the reasons that emperor of carnage was able to go so far. It was recorded that Neztec Quor was a dual martial and magic cultivator, who specialized in fire magic, and the evil sin magic that worships the devils. ...I won't go into sin magic, as that is a taboo subject that we should not talk about, nor is it something I know much about. Instead, I'll talk about one of Neztec Quor's achievements in fire magic. I'm sure that there are some among you whom know of this one, especially the honor students."
Compared to the other students, the honor students know more when the subject is about magic. Most of the honor students valued by the school have already been given permission by the headmaster, to begin cultivating magic. The ones whom have yet to begin, were those judged to be not loyal enough yet, and were thus sent to attend special lessons for more intense brainwashing...
Teacher Bech continued on. "I am talking of the "explosion" spell."
Hearing that, uncomfortable expressions appeared on the faces of the handful of honor students in this cla.s.s. Some of them were frowning, while others had their facial muscles twitching.
A student not on the honor roll, but is highly interested in magic, excitedly asked, "Is that a spell that causes an explosion similar to a bomb's?" If so, he cannot wait to learn such a magic. It would be so cool to start blowing things up all over the place.
Teacher Bech smiled. "Yes, it is."
That student smiled too. It is just as he had expected.
Teacher Bech followed with another sentence. "It turns YOU into a bomb."
That student's smile froze. "...Huh?" He wondered if he had heard wrong.
"You've heard of cultivators blowing themselves up in legends and such, right? Do you think that is something they can naturally do? No, it is not. The unofficial name of the explosion spell is the "self-destruct" spell. Yes, it is that first spell that our school makes you learn once you've obtained permission to practice magic. It was written that most of Neztec Quor's soldiers were like him, also dual cultivators. That particular emperor was never stingy with pa.s.sing out spells and techniques. That allowed his army to grow quicker in strength than those of any other countries'."
"Unfortunately, many of those spells and techniques that he pa.s.sed out, were harmful to their own users. Whenever he waged war and fell onto the losing end, he would send his soldiers out in a suicidal attack, that would end in them all blowing themselves up and taking their enemies down with them. I can imagine how much of a headache that brought to his enemy countries. The main reason our school teaches it, is to allow our people the option of suicide in case they ever get captured."
A lot of the students shivered. They imagined themselves in the scenario of being sent out as suicidal bombers. If they had any choice, of course they would not be willing to blow themselves up.
One student raised his hands and asked, "With such a cruel ruler, how come those soldiers didn't rebel?"
"I would say that one reason is likely because he only ever force them to sacrifice themselves when they were forced into a brink. It's just that, recorded in history, there were many such incidences..." Teacher Bech answered. There was a suspicious tone to his voice.
"But it's not that they didn't rebel. In the end, the 4th emperor of carnage, Neztec Quor, did die due to the betrayal of his subordinates. There aren't too many details about that event. We don't know what prompted it, but it was said that after emperor Neztec Quor finished taking over the northern continent, all of his generals, and all the n.o.bles under him, suddenly swarmed his palace and killed him."
After that, teacher Bech moved on to talking about some of the other reasons that Neztec Quor able to unite the continent.
He talked about how, after creating the explosion spell, that emperor began to allowed women to join his army. He also talked about the some of the many body-enhancing magical drugs that were developed by that emperor, drugs that granted power in exchange for their users' life span. There were some other things too, like rumors about how Neztec Quor had included strange non-human monsters in his army.
Before cla.s.s ended, they moved on from the topic of how emperor Neztec Quor took over the continent, to the question of, "Why was Neztec Quor called the most sinful emperor in history?".
"It wasn't only because he was the emperor who killed the most people in history. It was also because he was the most l.u.s.tful ruler of all. From all the cities of all the countries he took over, he would take all the young women of all the n.o.ble families. It did not matter whether they were the daughters of barons, or the daughters of kings or of emperors, nor did it matter whether they were legitimate or illegitimate, single or married, adult or child, as long as they were beautiful, he took them all. Even if they were merely daughters of some rich commoner families, he would take them as well. It was said that his capital, the Great City of Quor, a prosperous city with over a million citizens, consisted only of his countless concubines!"
"...Despite having such a big harem for himself, that emperor actually promoted MONOGAMY! All of his subordinates, no matter how high their rank, and all of his citizens, were only allowed to have one wife each, no concubines, no mistresses, and no female slaves. Anyone who breached this law, was to be castrated! ...Now that I think about it, that might have been the reason why all his subordinates rebelled. It must have been an terrible time for the men, with all the beautiful women taken away, and only the leftovers to pick from." Teacher Bech speculated, while rubbing his chin. He was convinced that his theory was correct.
A year into the future, when Seth reads this chapter in this textbook, he would shout in his mind:
"This is slander! I... I only gathered those girls to protect them from my l.u.s.tful subordinates. There were nowhere near a million of them, and I can count among my fingers the ones among them whom I actually slept with. Also, I only promoted monogamy to make the men cherish their women more. Why are these the source of my sin!?"
