SHEEN~!
An unexpected screeching sound occurred.
The a.s.sa.s.sin's b.l.o.o.d.y sword stabbed straight through the flat side of Ronold Wolf's greatsword. The thick steel greatsword was barely able to slow it down! It was sunk into it like a knife through pudding, as if it wasn't even there!
At this unexpected deadly crisis, Ronold Wolf's eyes widened, and he went into a momentary panic! He let out a loud roar, as he hastily spun his greatsword around in an arc, taking a violent step forward and away from his a.s.sailant.
He was able to feel something cutting through the left side of his neck as he was making that hasty retreat. The wound was not fatal, but the sense of death he felt at that moment, surpa.s.sed any of the many times he was attacked by Merab Zefer in their long battle up till now.
Having made sufficient distance, Ronold Wolf grunted and glared at his a.s.sailant. ...Then, he glared down another 40 centimeters.
Who can blame him for being so tall, and for his a.s.sailant being so short? When he glared behind him, all he could see was his bandit subordinates and the soldiers of the city fighting a distance away. If it wasn't for the hair swaying at the bottom of his field of view, he would not have caught notice of the little boy holding a b.l.o.o.d.y sword with a disappointed expression on his face.
A name came to Ronold Wolf's mind. It was the name of the child that he had sent one of his vice-chiefs to Haradur city to recruit. It was also the name of the one who ripped off an arm and an eye of another one of his vice-chiefs.
With narrowed eyes, he coldly spoke that name. "Seth Zefer... It looks like I had still underestimated you."
He had thought that so long as this brat remains in this city, the moment he runs into him, he would crush him like how a man would crush a bug. But from the sneak attack that he had suffered just now, he had learned, that the bite of this bug is potentially fatal!
"Seth! Back away from here! This is not a battle where a brat like you can interfere!" Merab Zefer shouted. He didn't even consider the fact that Seth was almost able to deliver a fatal blow to Ronold Wolf just now.
To him, no matter what tricks Seth has up his sleeves, a 1st level heroic bearing stage martial artist would have no chance against a 4th level escaping fatality stage immortal.
"Eh? Isn't this the part of the story where father and son work together to cause a miracle to defeat the big baddie before us? Why am I being told to scram?" Seth tilted his head in a show of confusion. It was as if he truly could not understand, which caused his father, Merab Zefer, to feel one annoying headache.
Meanwhile, Ronold Wolf was staring at Seth's sword. It was that sword that cut through his greatsword like a knife through b.u.t.ter. Could it be, that this completely, and utterly, ordinary-looking sword, is yet another treasure that this boy carries?
"...No matter what treasured weapon you have, at long as it does not hit, it does not matter. No matter how strong the armor you wear, the person underneath is still a mere mortal made of flesh and blood. You can still be crushed to a pulp! Now, DIE!" Ronold Wolf raised his greatsword, and charged straight at Seth like an angered elephant. As the leader of a large bandit gang, and as a cultivator of the 3rd stage, his pride was damaged the moment that a little boy like Seth had managed to cut him. There is now no chance of any negotiation, nor is there a chance that he would let this boy go. Merab Zefer can be left for later. Right now, this boy must die!
Seth immediately backed away. Fighting brutes likes these from the front is always a ch.o.r.e.
"You've forgotten about me!" Merab Zefer roared. He had already forgotten about his thoughts of escape, as he dashed straight at Ronold Wolf's back. To divert this bandit chief's attention to himself, he even gave out an alert.
The fight resumed, but this time, it has become a 2 versus 1.
And Seth... was being a complete burden.
When the same martial skills are used by different martial cultivators, the effects shown by the cultivator with the higher cultivation level will obviously be better than the effects shown by the cultivator with the lower cultivation level.
When Seth uses those 3 martial skills that he had taught Merab Zefer, he can fight with a power equivalent to that of a peak heroic bearings stage cultivator who isn't using any martial skills, and thanks to the tricky effects of those martial skills that he uses, he can even quickly kill them. When Merab Zefer uses those same skills, even if he has not fully mastered them, he can reduce a 3rd stage martial cultivator that has already pa.s.sed his first destiny tribulation, to a b.l.o.o.d.y mess. In fact, if it wasn't for Ronold Wolf having those healing pills on his body, if he and Merab Zefer were to fight to the death, there would a significant chance of Merab Zefer coming out as the one who is victorious.
But when Seth uses those same martial skills against a 3rd stage cultivator like Ronold Wolf? Without the element of surprise, they would have little effect.
Ronold Wolf was already wary of Seth's sword. Thus, he did not dare to take any direct attacks from it. He may be arrogant, but he isn't a fool.
No matter how many of those blades Seth sent flying at him, none of them would manage to hit.
That giant human body of Ronold Wolf's would at times, seem to move with the dexterity of an agile dancer, as he dodges each blade of light. He kept on chasing after Seth, while Seth kept on retreating. He did not allow Seth to get out of his sight.
Merab Zefer was already a spent force. He barely had any stamina left in him. Yet, he still continued to fight, and was barely managing to keep up. If it was not for the fact that Ronold Wolf is currently not focusing on him, there would have been many times where he might have died.
Suddenly, Ronold Wolf took a stance as he raised his greatsword with one hand. His following movements were very fluid.
That stance, those movements, Seth and Merab Zefer both recognized them. They were both momentarily shocked when they saw it being performed by their enemy, Ronold Wolf.
"You showed it off in front of me so many times. You think I would not learn it?" Ronold Wolf sneered. "The other two skills sped up midway, so I could not catch them, but this one, I could!!"
Offensive blade skill: Reaching your heart from a mile away, my love is ethereal!
Ronold Wolf did not know the name of this skill, nor did he shout it out loud. He did not get the movements completely correct. After all, martial skills are more complicated than they look. The details of their motions goes from the shape of the spine, to the directions of each finger and toe, throughout the entire process.
Due to his lack of mastery of the skill, Ronold Wolf felt a pain in his body when he carried out the movements. But because the general form matched up, he was still able to use it!
The large greatsword shot out an equally large blade of light. It vaguely made the air tremble wherever it pa.s.sed, as it soared straight at Seth, seeking to slice him into 2 halves!
SLASH! SPURT!
Blood spurted out like a geyser as a man fell to his knees. A THUD followed as that man's body laid on the ground.
"I... I could have completely dodged that!" Seth yelled. He had watched in great shock as his father acted as a shield in front of him. The shock he felt when he saw Ronold Wolf using one of the martial skills that he himself had taught, was nothing compared to this. That shock was more like being slightly impressed, while this one was more similar to getting freaked out while watching a horror movie. He simply could not understand how this could have happened.
Blood flowed like a small river. The armor was of little use. The slash did not cut off his head, nor did it rip apart his heart, but it did go through many other organs. If it was not for the fact that Ronold Wolf's mastery of that martial skill was still low, and not able to transmit the full power of that slash, then Merab Zefer would truly have been bisected and killed on the spot.
As Seth held up Merab Zefer's head to force him to drink a healing elixir, he heard the man laugh while coughing out blood. "Haha... That d*mned bottleneck is finally gone."
After saying that, Merab Zefer fainted. This ma.s.sive wound, couple with his acc.u.mulated fatigue, forced even a man as strong as him to lose hold of his consciousness.
Ronold Wolf watched this scene in amus.e.m.e.nt. Killing a father in front of his son, gives him a very good feeling. He casually asked Seth, "So, how do you feel, watching your father die in your place?".
Looking down at his unconscious father, Seth searched for words. "...He's not dead yet. But, how do I feel you asked? Hmm... Shocked, to say the least. You might not know, but this father is sc.u.m. As far as I know, he treats other people as nothing more than tools. Dying in someone's place? That action should have never been possible for him, even if that someone is one of his own sons. I never expected him to do it. That's why it's all the more shocking. ...Well, that's all though. If you ask me if I feel anything else, then, not really."
"...How boring. You can die with him now, father and son." Having walked close, Ronold Wolf raised his greatsword. He was going to smash it down upon Seth's head, crushing his brains and all. The unconscious Merab Zefer would follow right after. After all, a sleeping man can't run. After that, this battle would be over. His Wolfing gang would have won, and everything in this city would become theirs to toy with.
The greatsword came smashing down, parting the air below it with its heavy bulk.
BaANG!!
A sound akin to that of cars crashing rang out, as reflected within the shocked gaze of Ronold Wolf, his greatsword was caught within Seth's small hand. No matter how much strength, no matter how much weight, he put into it, it would not slice even a centimeter down. Creaking sounds echoed out as blood lines spread out from Seth's hand, like cracks through his greatsword. Then, like gla.s.s, the blade shattered along those lines!
Ronold Wolf quickly backed away. Although his eye of forewarning death did not tell him anything, his rising wariness caused cold sweat to flow down his back.
His greatsword, which was previously as large as the common man, was reduced to half its length. The strength required to snap a block of refined steel as thick as this with a single hand? That is something even he does not have.
The small creature in front of him, started to look more mysterious, and more dangerous than ever.
Seth's gaze slowly rose. In his eyes, is frustration, and anger!
"I did not expect it. I do not understand. For that reason, I am angry!" The anger he felt was like a little kid, not understanding his homework no matter how much he tried, and then, getting the urge to throw a tantrum.
He put down his father. He tossed away his sword. Clenching both his fists, Seth charged at Ronold Wolf like a tiger charging at its prey!
...
