The Last Embrace 437 Sacrificial Lamb

Jessy teleported into Jagger's bachelor's pad. He's nowhere inside the pad. He could be gambling in the casino somewhere or romancing women in other random places. She will just wait for his return, it's tiring finding him all over the place. She wants him to volunteer to be one of the representatives to the government. If he will agree, he can be sent abroad to work with the military people there. As for her, she will be the one working inside the country for whatever missions they required from her.

There is no need to involved other vampires, two representatives are enough.

She slumped into the sofa and stared at the ceiling in resting mode.

A few minutes later her eyelids were dropping, she was feeling sleepy, she finally gives in to her sleepiness and fall asleep.

Three hours later.

Jagger returned to his pad not using the door but through the teleportation process and landed in the living room quietly.

His eyes widened in surprise upon seeing a sleeping woman on the sofa, who dared to enter his abode? When he took a peek at the woman's face, it turns out to be no other than his ladylove, Jessy, sleeping soundly on the sofa.

How many hours had she waited for him?

If he knows that she's in his pad waiting for him he would have gone home early.

G.o.d, he misses her so much! He fought the sudden urge to hug her.

Instead, he sits down beside her on the sofa and spent the next few minutes admiring the loveliness of her facial feature. Her expressive beautiful eyes, her cute pointed nose, and kissable lips. She's pretty and kindhearted, perfect in so many ways.

And when Jessy finally opens her eyes, it's Jagger's face that greeted her, staring at her. She rose to her feet and looked at him. "Why didn't you wake me up?" she asked.

"I just returned a few minutes ago. I saw you sleeping soundly so I thought you needed more rest. So, I just watched over you," he answered.

Jessy rolled her eyes. "Whatever...anyways...I'm here for one reason."

"What is it, Jess? Do tell me," he asked.

Jessy took a deep breath. "I want your help," she said.

"What kind of help?"

Jessy stood up and began pacing back and forth on the floor.

"I met some military officials proposing a peace agreement between the government and the surviving vampires. They want two representatives from the vampire clan in exchange for the safety and protection of the entire Facility and Habitat. If we can provide them these two representatives, then they will ensure peace and clemency for the vampires. If the plan worked out then our clan can have a long-lasting peace under the government protection," she explained.

"Really-? That's too good to be true!" Jagger commented in disbelief.

"A first I'm doubting it. But I already checked the memory of these two military officials and they have good intentions. I have no doubts anymore. All we need is to comply with the missions they have given to us, then they will compile all our achievements in one comprehensive report and present it to the higher officials in the higher office. Once the higher officials see our usefulness and full potentials they will never let us go, that is the downside, but the positive side outweighs the negative side because our clan can finally live in peace protected by the government," Jessy elaborated.

"So, you want the two of us to be the sacrificial lamb?" he asked wanting to be clear.

"Yes, that's more like it," she affirmed.

He stared at her for a long time.

Jagger owed a lot to Jessy including his second chance of life. Although he hated to be boss around 'coz he valued his freedom so much, but if his sacrifice will benefit the entire vampire clan then he is more than willing to sacrifice his newfound freedom. If Jessy is willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good then he can also do the same. "Okay, I'm in!" he said without hesitation.

Jessy stared at him for a few seconds in disbelief. She was expecting that he will refuse and she will have a hard time convincing him. Then it finally dawned on her that he already said 'Yes.'

She smiled broadly and hugged him. "Thank you," she whispered and disengaged from the hug.

It took a few minutes to register on Jagger's mind that Jessy hugged him willingly on her own accord. Yay! It feels so right! It made him happy. But he was not stupid enough to fantasize that it is a romantic hug, it's just a friendly hug and nothing else. Nevertheless, he was ecstatic when she showed him a little affection. The hug happened so fast but the heat of her body lingers in his consciousness making him happy and high.

"I will be dropping here tomorrow so that you will know what to expect. I still need to inform the military officials tomorrow that the vampire clan is now ready to provide two representatives. I will let you know of their decisions and instructions concerning us," she said.

"Okay, I will wait. I won't go far away. By evening I'm already home so that you will see me right away," he said.

"That's good, thanks for your cooperation, Jagger. I'm leaving now," she said.

"Nah, don't mention it, Jess. I'm more than happy to help you and you know it," he replied.

Jessy smiled and disappeared from his view.

Jagger went inside his room to rest.

He was not able to sleep right away. He was thinking of how his life unfolded over the years. Starting from being a young man nurturing hatred and vengeance in his heart and putting his followers to death because of the wrong cause.

He remembered his mother's dying wish and he's been fulfilling her last wish and that is to live in peace without hatred and vengeance in his heart. He's been living that way for a while now. She must be very happy watching over him in heaven. As for atoning for all his previous sins, he will sacrifice his freedom for the good of all and willingly become the government's mercenary.

With those positive thoughts running in his mind he finally falls asleep in his bed peacefully.
