Roden entered the secret room wanting to talk to his younger brother, there are many things he wants to ask such as why and how he met the Crossbred? And how come he was not killed by the Crossbred?
These questions have been burning in his mind since yesterday.
"Jagu, I need to talk to you. I have some questions..." Roden sat on the edge of the bed.
"What is it that you want to ask, brother?" Jagger asked.
"Can you put that bottle first in the table over there?" Roden requested.
Jagger grinned. "Yes of course..." he placed the bottle gently in the wooden table.
Roden looked at his brother in the eyes. "Tell me how did you meet, the Crossbred? And how did your men died?"
Jagger sighed. As much as possible he doesn't want to talk and kept reminded of how all his men were being slaughtered inside the cave while he was being away. That was all due to his carelessness and stupidity but his brother deserves to know the truth.
He began narrating all the events leading on the night how his path and Jessy connected.
"I was in the city looking for a human to abduct for our source of blood supply when I come back in the cave, all my men disappeared. I only saw lots of blood splattered in the walls of the cave and as well in the ground. Our human blood supply was rescued by Jessy and brought to the Facility. The King's men ma.s.sacred everyone inside the cave. Jessy at one point gives the women and elders the chance to surrender so that their life will be spared but they don't want to surrender, they'd rather want to die."
"After experiencing horror, trauma, defeat, and anger...I retreated to this cave where the majority of the bats were hiding. I began honing my black magic skill all day and all night. I have this burning desire to avenge the death of everyone in the cave. I want to burn the whole Facility down and all of its inhabitants."
"One night, finally, I was able to perfect the technique of manipulating the bats to do my bidding. That is the moment I been waiting for, I'm so eager to attack the Facility and unleash my revenge. The next full moon, using my power over them I commanded all the bats in that cave to attack the Facility. While the bats are attacking the Facility, they were unable to penetrate inside because as it turns out the Facility was protected by some kind of barrier or shield. I soon come to realize that it will become a losing battle for me. I attacked the facility that night with only one thought in mind to kill the king with my own hands. It doesn't matter if I die on that night as long I can also kill the king then I already avenged our parents' death. It was a suicide attack on my part and I'm willing to die as long I can end the life of our father's number one enemy, the king."
"While hiding in the sideline, I saw the king above the Facility with several of his men combating my bats, the king burned the bats with the flames leaping from his hands. I saw that opportunity to drive my spare on his back while he was busy killing the bats. I zoomed right into him and thrust my spear into his back for a kill...unfortunately...I was horrified to discover that a spear was also plunged into my back from someone who happens to look like the king. That's when I realized that one of the two kings is fake. Although I wasn't able to kill the real king that night at least my bats killed forty of his men."
"Then, before I lose consciousness I was able to teleport into the forest bringing with me the first king that I saw. We landed in the forest. That's when the fake king changed his image and it was Jessy all along. The real king is the one who drives the spear at my back. While I lay down in the ground dying with the fatal blow...at the last minute Jessy changed her mind and save my life by letting me drink her blood."
"Fast forward, I slowly recovered my health in the treehouse. She would visit me regularly, taking care of me and brought me human foods. After seven days, my fangs were gone and I no longer crave human blood. I starting human foods from then on. Those things over there in the corner, she bought all those stuff from the city for me so that I won't encounter difficulty living my life in the forest with the help of those tools. His boyfriend even offered for me to relocate to the Facility so that I won't have to live alone in the forest."
"Then I found myself liking Jessy and falling in love with her day by day. It's a one-sided love because she already had a boyfriend that she loves so much. Her boyfriend seems to be a good fellow. Jessy was very kind and friendly to me."
"That's all...brother," Jagger concluded his story.
"How about your power—was it affected by your transformation into a mortal being?" Roden asked.
"Yes. I thought I lose all my power after I become a human being. But all my power come back to me slowly, I hide them from Jessy, I want her to believe that I completely turn into a useless mortal so that she will continue visiting me in the forest," Jagger explained.
Roden stared hard at the bottle for a few minutes, he was trying to ponder why the Crossbred saved his brother's life when she knew very well that he was the enemy. It's either she's genuinely kind or she had an ulterior motive. "Then why are you going to force this woman to marry you when you know very well that she saved your life once? Is this how you repay the person who saves your life?" he asked his brother.
Jagger felt the pangs of guilt and shame stabbed his heart for a moment. Then his face turned hard like a rock. "It doesn't matter, I will repay her kindness every day of my life as long she stays in my side forever as my faithful wife," he said.
Roden released a deep sigh. "Okay, I have decided that instead of erasing her memory of her previous life tonight I'll do it this afternoon," he said.
Jagger smiled broadly. "Thank you, brother!"
Roden stood up and walked towards the door, he looked over his shoulder at his brother's happy face. "I will come back later, bro, I will just prepare some ritual first..."
"Take your time brother," Jagger responded.
Roden exited the secret room to prepare the things he needed for the ritual.
