Jessy doesn't mind at all.
Staring at the sleeping baby brings peace to her mind. It's like watching a blank canva.s.s, the baby is like the canva.s.s...so white so pure...when the baby starts growing bigger and bigger each day...soon enough she will become an adult...she will no longer remain a blank canva.s.s because life's experiences will mold her into the world of adulthood of her own choice. But she's still a baby yet, so she needs her mother's love and care.
One hour later, the queen was done erasing Ruth's memory of the abduction.
"Jess, you can send Ruth to her home now then come back for the baby later, I will watch over the sleeping angel here while you take care of her mother," Queen Margaret commanded.
"Yes, Mother," Jessy replied and went to Ruth's side, she holds the frozen woman's arm and initiated the teleportation process in her mind.
A moment later.
Jessy and Ruth landed outside the house. Jessy pressed the doorbell three times. A housemaid opened the main door of the house and take a look around wondering who was responsible for pressing the doorbell.
Jessy unfreezes Ruth and made her visible when the door finally opened.
"Maam Ruth! It's really you!" the housemaid exclaimed. The maid opened the door wide for the missing woman to enter.
Ruth was frowning. "Yes, it's me. And why are you looking at me like I'm a ghost or something?" she asked bewildered by the housemaid's surprised look, she ignored the maid's odd reaction after seeing her. "Where's Mom and Dad?" she asked.
"Because Ma'am Ruth...you are missing for more than a year! Your parents are upstairs in their room, I will inform them that you finally returned, they will be happy for sure!" the maid was now smiling broadly.
Ruth went into the living room. She was deeply puzzled and bothered when the maid said that she was missing for over a year? Huh? How is that even possible?
She feels like she never left at all, she had no memory of her disappearance, maybe the housemaid was just joking.
A few minutes later.
Ruth's mother and father come down the stairs followed by the maid.
Extreme happiness was visible on the couple's faces.
"Daughter, where have you been!?" the mother was crying joyously while hugging her daughter.
"We've been looking for you all over the country, we can't find you, you disappeared without a trace!" the father explained, happiness and huge relief was already showing on his face.
Ruth's brows furrowed. Now, that both her parents finally confirmed the housemaid's claim, then it must be true. Where the h.e.l.l she went to when she went missing? She can't remember a single thing! This is absolute madness!
Ruth sank into the sofa, feeling perplexed. "I can't answer anything right now, Mom and Dad. I don't remember a single thing!" her face was marred with confusion.
A moment of silence ensued between them.
...
Jessy left the gathering in the living room to go back to the Facility and get the baby. She teleported back into the study room, she found the queen smiling while playing with the baby that was already wide awake.
"How's did it go?" the queen asked.
Jessy sighed. "As usual, the parents were happy to see their missing daughter, then, of course, there will be lots of questions for Ruth..."
"That's normal," Queen Margaret commented. "Anyhow, bring the baby now to their house, maybe after seeing the baby Ruth will feel a maternal connection with her daughter," the queen said. She looked at the baby one last time and walked away heading for the door.
"Goodnight, Mother!" Jessy said.
"Goodnight, daughter," the queen replied and left the room.
Jessy nuzzled the baby's chubby arms and legs. "Let's go home now to your mommy's home baby, you will meet your grandparents in a little while," she said.
She picked up the portable ba.s.sinet and teleported back into Ruth's house.
A minute later, Jessy was now standing outside the door of the house, she gently put down the portable ba.s.sinet in the ground and pressed the doorbell once again.
The door opened and the housemaid looked around, then her eyes saw the portable ba.s.sinet with the wide-awake baby lying inside. "Oh my G.o.d! Who left this poor baby outside the door?" she exclaimed, stunned.
She picked up the ba.s.sinet and brought the baby into the living room. "Ma'am and Sir! I found this baby outside the door, somebody left it outside. Awww, she's so cute!" the maid can't help but smitten by the cuteness of the baby.
Ruth and her parents scrambled on their feet to look at the baby.
The baby was full smile while gazing at the stranger gathering around her, then her eyes landed on her mother's familiar face, she smiled even more while her chubby arms were trying to reach for her mother's face.
Ruth's parents looked at each other, then they looked at the baby and their daughter.
When Ruth ignored the baby, the baby began to cry, but when she took the baby in her arms the baby smiled again, Ruth's maternal instinct give away. It was a normal bond between mother and daughter that was witnessed both by the astonished housemaid and the parents.
"Ruth, is this baby, your child?" the mother asked.
The father was dumbfounded.
Ruth shakes her head frantically. "No. I'm single. I was never pregnant! How can I give birth to a baby?" she denied vehemently. She placed the baby in the housemaid's arms. But the baby cried again, so she has to take it back in her arms and the baby went silent again.
Ruth's parents whispered to one another. "Let's have them both subject to DNA testing."
The housemaid spoke. "Ma'am, what we're going to do with the baby?"
"Let's keep the baby in the meantime, if somebody is looking for her then we will return the baby," the mother said.
"That's the best thing to do," the father agreed. "Ruth, since the baby likes you, you have to take care of it for a while," he added.
"We're going upstairs to rest, we will resume our conversation tomorrow, daughter," the mother said.
The couple climbs the stairs.
"What if the DNA test is negative?" asked the mother.
The father smiled. "We will adopt the baby if no one is looking for her," he answered with finality in his voice.
...
Jessy smiled after hearing the couple's conversation, looks like she no longer has to worry about the baby's future, the little angel will be in good hands for sure.
