Jessy has not been into the treehouse for three days. How is Jagger doing right now? Today is his 6th day....and tomorrow he will be completely out of the observation period and ultimately become a mortal.
After 7th day, she no longer has to think about him that much, after all, she already had done her best to help his transition smooth and pleasant as possible.
Tonight or tomorrow, she might visit Jagger in the treehouse depending on her availability.
For now, her immediate concern is asking her father's permission so that she can bring her mother to the city.
Two hours later.
The doctor was done removing the needle from her arm. "See you later, Jess," he said.
"See you...Doc!" Jessy responded and exited the clinic.
She went to the core of the Facility to find her father. She found him lounging in the benches on the holding area of the mining site together with other vampires, they seemed to be having their break time as well.
This is a good opportunity to talk to him. His father was waving his hand when he spotted her presence on the door.
She sauntered towards her father's side like rays of sunshine.
"Hi Dad!" she greeted her with a full smile.
Hector brought his daughter inside his small office for privacy. He smiled fondly at his daughter. "What is this visit for, my daughter? You need something from me?"
Jessy smiled shaking her head. "Nothing serious, Dad. I just want to thank you for this—!" she held her wrist up for her father to see the golden bracelet.
"It's a nice piece of jewelry. You like it?" he said.
"Yes, of course! Thank you for the second golden pouch you gave me, Dad!" she beamed.
"No need to thank me, child. You deserve the golden nuggets. So...you want to take a tour with me inside the tunnels?"
"Hmm...not really. I mean not now, Dad, some other time maybe?" she said politely.
"So—what can I do for you this time?" Hector asked.
"I'm here...because...I want to ask your permission...I would like to bond with mother outside the Facility..." she said breathlessly.
"Huh?" Hector's brows drew together.
"Mother and I have a conversation yesterday while we were having our meals in the canteen, and it saddened me to know that she hadn't set foot outside the Facility for many years. I think it's a good idea if Mom and I can go out together...it would be refreshing for her to experience how it feels to be out in the open again...a breath of fresh air...if I may add," she said feeling optimistic.
Hector was silent for a while. He nearly has forgotten that his wife is a mortal being and not a vampire like him. If it's dangerous for a vampire to go to public places and risk the chance to be discovered, but on Sarah's case, it shouldn't be dangerous to explore the outside world again because his wife is human after all. What bad can happen to a human when she's with the same people of her kind?
"Dad, please allow Mom and I to go out sometime," she pleaded after seeing that his father seemed to be having difficulty agreeing to her request.
"You know what daughter—? Your mother didn't complain even once that she's been holed up here with me inside the Facility for a long time. She didn't ask me to take her outside, so I kind of accepted the fact that she's perfectly at home here with us...I never know that some part of her wants to see her world again," Hector said sadly.
Jessy looked at his father. "Dad, that's not what I mean. Mom didn't even complain about her situation here. I just offer her one day to bring her to the city for a change. If I didn't suggest to her that we will go out, she won't even talk openly about this topic to me. Please, don't quarrel with her," she said.
Hector smiled. "Nah, don't worry, child. This is just a small issue. I've been grateful for your mother for sticking with me through thick and thin without complaining even once..."
"Because she loves you so much, Dad!" she responded.
Hector chuckled. "Yeah, she did! Because of that, I will allow you to bring your mother to the city but on one condition..."
"What is the condition, Dad?"
"You should take care of her and protect her, okay?"
"Yes, I will, Dad! You can count on me, when it comes to mother's safety it's my top priority. I promise you that after we roamed the city I will bring her back without a scratch on her body," she declared confidently.
Hector looked at his daughter, not doubting her words. The best person who can protect Sarah is no other than their daughter. He will be a bad husband and bad father if he will deny them their rights to have bonding moments together as mother and daughter.
"Okay, your request granted, so when you and your mother will go to the city?" he inquired.
"Anytime, whenever her schedule and my time allows because we are both busy women," she said. "Thank you, Dad, for being understanding," she said softly. She was thinking of bringing her father along with them to the city one day so that they can bond together as one family. "Why don't you come with us, Dad?" she suggested, thrilled with the thoughts of having both mother and father out in the open.
Hector smiled tenderly at his only child. "Just bring your mother home safely, that's all I'm asking from you, daughter, as for your wish to see your mother and I bonding together that sounds a nice idea but we have to ask the royal couple's permission first!" he said.
Jessy pouted. "Eh? Why can't we go out anytime? Why do we have to ask the King and Queen's permission first?" she pouted. "Why Adam and I can come and go freely out of the Facility anytime we want?" she asked frowning.
"Because my dear daughter...the King and the Queen have no restriction for both of you 'coz they trusted you guys. You and Adam will become the future leader of the vampire clan, you are allowed to explore the world and learn everything on your own so that one day you will be deserving and worthy to lead the vampire clan. The royal couple knew that you've been going in and out of the Facility, but they never put a restriction on your nor sent vampires to spy on you because they simply trusted you, they were expecting that you always do the right thing by putting the clan's well being in your hands first. That is one way of shaping the future leader to be the best that they can be. No question ask," Hector explained.
Jessy was silent for a moment. She was wondering how the royal couple would react if they will know that she saved the son of the savaged vampire leader, what would they think of her decision? But it's not the time to think about it.
"Just take care of yourself and your mother when you are out in the city enjoying your bonding moments together, okay?" Hector repeated.
"Aye, consider it done, Sir!" she replied jokingly and rose to her feet. "I'm leaving now back to the middle...I mean to the clinic, Dad," she tiptoed and kissed her father's cheek.
She was waving her hands to her father while walking towards the door.
Hector waved back at his daughter, proud of the woman that she had become.
