She eats breakfast alone.
Done in the canteen, she finally relaxes a bit and strolled towards the clinic with a sense of calmness remembering with great relief that she finally saved the caged people.
Last night was a complete success and she owed it to everyone who is involved with the mission.
She finally arrived in the clinic and went inside to start the blood transfusion. Jessy hops into the bed and the doctor began preparing the blood transfusion tool, then he went to the next room to get the first recipient for the day.
"Did you sleep well, Doc?" she asked upon seeing that the doctor was yawning.
"I'm just sleepy, I and my a.s.sistant were busy attending to the wounded warriors last night, we finish this morning. We only have a few hours of sleep," he explained.
"So, how many wounded warriors are there? Is everyone okay? Hope no one is in critical condition," she asked worriedly. Because of tiredness and sleepiness last night she falls asleep after a few minutes of entering her room, she no longer bother to go back to the cave to see if the king and his men already returned to the Facility but she already expected that they will go home after killing the remaining savage vampires inside the cave.
Her heart was still aching for those vampires that she was trying to save but now dead, they could have a chance to live longer but they rejected her offer of refuge, she was feeling a bit guilty—didn't she convince them enough? Or maybe she wasn't showing enough sympathy on her face while talking to them that is why they can't see the sincerity in her offer—?
Enough!
Her mind was complaining that she is giving too much attention to the slain women and old folks who died last night, though her heart was grieving still.
But she can't keep thinking of last night's events, she has to move on, just that war and conflicts of all kinds always give a feeling of sadness and guilt to everyone after the b.l.o.o.d.y war ended. It seemed peace is not attainable if people won't agree with one another to meet in the middle under one common ground.
Last night was a clear example that if people are not quick enough to change their mind, death is the outcome of stubbornness. Her last attempt to save those people was a failure not because she's not convincing enough but because they simply can't let go of their hatred, so death is the only solace to comfort their grieving heart and mind. She closed her eyes hoping for quick closure. Her life used to be so simple in the mansion but now that she's coming of age, the world outside her sheltered life seems a bit complicated to understand, or maybe it's the people that are hard to understand.
Two hours later...
Break time.
Jessy made an exit of the clinic and ambled towards the living quarters of the humans, she promised to see and talk to them today to make them feel at ease in their new surroundings.
On her way, she met the queen in the hallway, they smiled at each other warmly.
"Oh, Jessy are you going to eat lunch with your mother in the canteen?" the queen asked.
"Yes Mother, but I'm going to see the mortals first before going to the canteen," she answered.
"I already a.s.signed my people to get foods from the canteen and distribute to the mortal's rooms, that would be three times a day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You don't have to worry about them. I am requesting that after you eat lunch you visit me in the study room because I have something important to discuss with you. You can visit the mortals later in the afternoon," Queen Margaret said.
"No problem, Mother, I will visit you in the study room after lunch, but how about Antonia and the five orphaned children?" she asked.
"They were already fed with the rationed blood one hour ago, I already a.s.signed one person to take care of them, so don't worry about them," the queen explained.
"Thank you so much, Mother," she gratefully said.
"See you later, child," the queen smiled and walked away heading to her study room.
Jessy went to the canteen's direction in a quick stride. Her tummy was already grumbling, she's very hungry! She swears she can finish a truckload of foods today, she was drooling and imagining eating delicious dishes!
I must hurry up!
When she arrived at the place, the majority of human workers were already exiting the entrance of the canteen.
She was sporting a wide smile on her face when she saw her beloved mother waiting for her in their favorite table.
"Hi Mom!" she granted her mother a quick peck on the cheek. Her eyes were sparkling delightfully upon seeing the three variants of mouth-watering dishes displayed on the table which consist of spicy pork chop with lots of onion rings, b.u.t.ter garlic shrimp, chicken curry and rice. She immediately sat down on the chair, picked up the spoon and fork then quickly put the delicious dishes on her plate and began eating. "Yum yum, these dishes so delicious! I love it, Mom!"
Sarah smiled fondly at her daughter. "Slow down! Chew your food slowly," she chastised her in a patronizing way.
"Ok, Mother dear," she said slowing down. She enjoyed every spoonful of the tasty dishes that entered her mouth.
A few minutes later, her tummy is full, the foods were fully consumed up to the last morsel, that's how hungry she was and she enjoyed sipping the cool refreshing gla.s.s of lemon ice tea, she's loving this simple luxury of life to be able to eat delicious dishes anytime she wants, delicious food always makes her feel good and rejuvenated. "What a nice appetizing lunch we had today—Mother! I enjoyed it so much!
Sarah looked at her daughter in the eyes. "So—I heard that you were rescuing mortals last night together with the king and his men?" she asked curiously hinting worry in her voice.
Jessy nodded her head. "They are the mortals abducted and imprisoned in cages for many years, the savage vampires used them as their blood supply source, so yeah, I help in rescuing them and we are planning to release them back to their family soon!" she explained.
