She rose from the bed and took a quick shower in the bathroom.
While the water is running above her head, she was doubting if that person is willing to be injected with the vaccine?
She knows that all vampires are scared with just the mere mention of the vaccine that brought countless deaths to vampires' clan through the years.
Tsk-tsk...
Definitely, a tough challenge for her!
Well...
Giving up without trying is never in her vocabulary.
Done showering and changing into casual clothes...the usual blouse, jeans, and sneakers, Jessy exited her room and was bouncing her way towards the canteen.
Once again, the canteen was teeming with human workers enjoying their lunch and she found her mother waiting for her in their usual table.
Jessy eased herself into the chair in front of her mother. "What you got for me today, Mother dear?" she asked her mother cheerfully.
"Just the usual, baked potatoes with cheese, mushroom soup, golden olive chicken and bananas," Sarah pointed at the foods in front of them.
Jessy grinned upon seeing the baked potatoes sprinkled with cheese which become her instant favorite after tasting it for the first time. "I do love it, thank you very much, Mom!"
She devoured her food with gusto, a few minutes later, she and her mother finally done eating lunch, they chatted for a while...and then they exited the canteen and go their separate ways.
Jessy went to the secret tunnel and appeared in the secret door inside the function hall, she was inside The Habitat.
In one of the buildings, there is one entire floor dedicated to the single old folks who have no family, she was heading to the women's section in the next building.
She finally reached the building, the old women's residence were in the first floor, they each have their own bed that lined up inside but there is no room or wall inside which separate them from each other, it was designed that way so that the old folks won't feel alone and lonely, they have plenty of company, they can talk, laugh and built friendship and camaraderie around each other. The room was equipped with a 50 inches flat-screen television, three showers, and three toilets.
It's a perfect residence for lonely old folks.
She went inside of each room looking for her guinea pig.
Everyone smiled at Jessy, of course, they knew her, she was the one who supplies blood to transform them all into a mortal being, but no one dared call her name and they cannot acknowledge her as the crossbred. She smiled back at them brightly, each of them got her blood.
Where is she?
She can't find her!
Dang! she forgot to even ask the granny's name on that day the old woman transferred her power to her. How stupid can she be?
Sighing...she went back to the room and asked the granny in the first bed.
"Granny, where the other's usually stay at this particular time of the day?" she asked.
"Some would swim in the pool, then others would take a stroll in the forest park or go to the library to read books," the old woman answered.
"Thank you so much, Grandma! Enjoy the rest of the afternoon," Jessy said smiling.
"You're welcome my child," the grandmother smiled back at her.
Jessy went to the pool area, she can't find her subject among the bathers.
She went to the library room, she was not there too...
Now only one place to go.
She walked to the path heading towards the mini forest park.
Jessy loves the gentle breeze of the wind, bathing her skin, fanning her face. It's not super hot today, the heat from the sun at this particular moment is just mild not enough to burn one's skin.
She strolled leisurely along the path, pa.s.sing people sitting in the concrete benches under the shades of the trees. She was looking left and right trying to spot the person that she wanted to see.
She was now reaching the middle of the park...she can almost see the end of the pathway.
Where is she?
Then she finally spotted her!
There she is!
She was sitting alone on the bench, facing a fountain that is adorned with three statues of mermaids water gushing from the mouth of the earthen jugs they were carrying in their hands.
Jessy sat down on the bench beside the old woman. "h.e.l.lo, Grandma! I have been looking for you all over the place," she told her.
"Oh, it's you!" the old woman responded, she still recognizes the younger woman's face. "How are you?"
"I'm doing good and how about you?" Jessy asked.
"Are you asking if I am enjoying being a mortal? h.e.l.l yeah!" the old woman grinned.
Jessy's mouth broke into a wide smile. "I'm glad you are enjoying your life here, Granny! By the way, what is your name?"
"Call me Alicia," the old woman answered.
"Okay, nice meeting you again Granny Alicia, what a beautiful name you have!"
The old woman just smiled at the girl beside her.
"Are you enjoying the view, Granny?"
"Yes...I specially like watching the mermaids statue, which reminds me of the mermaid friends that I used to have in the deepest part of the ocean, they brought me into their splendid kingdom once and its so beautiful down there, you wouldn't believe they existed in this world, they appeared more like a myth to human being, not real! But for someone like me who live in this world for a thousand years, I have seen everything and meet almost all the living creature of this planet," Alicia had spoken of something that is hard to believe.
"Really? So...mermaids exist in the deepest part of the ocean?" Jessy asked while looking closely at the old woman beside her, would she believe her?
Alicia looked at Jessy. "It's up to you if you believe me or not, it doesn't matter anymore," she said.
Jessy fell silent for a moment. "Of course I believe you, Granny!"
Alicia smiled at the younger woman. "You are lying, you are doubting my claim child. It's okay, I understand your point of view...to see is to believe...that is every human being motto and you are just like them."
Jessy smiled in amus.e.m.e.nt, granny had forgotten that she is already a mortal being.
Alicia looked at Jessy in the eyes. "So, what do you want from me, my child? Do you want me to teach you my power? Have you used it already?" she asked.
Jessy was shaking her head. "I have not yet use the power you had given me, Granny," she answered truthfully.
"Hmm, you're slow, child! Anyways, take your time, sooner or later you will have great usage for it. So...spill the beans!"
Jessy was hesitating for a moment but she has no more time left, she needs to head back to the clinic. "Granny, I really needed your help. I want a guinea pig that I can test with the anti-vampire vaccine, I just want to know if the newly transform mortals body are safe from the deadly anti-vampire vaccine. I need to inject it to you, to know the result. It's very important for the mortals that are already residing in The Habitat, it's for their safety, do you understand, Granny?"
Alicia stared at the younger woman and slowly shakes her head. "I understand what is your purpose, but what is the percentage of me dying from the anti-vampire vaccine?"
Jessy was stupefied.
"To be honest I have no idea what will happen to you after we injected you with the vaccine, that is why we need one volunteer for this dangerous test," Jessy explained.
Alicia released a deep sigh. "Okay, since you have chosen me to be the guinea pig then who am I to refuse your request, okay I will volunteer myself for the test. When will it's going to happen?"
"Tonight at 12 midnight in the clinic, I will wait for you in the tunnel. Will you be there Granny?"
Alicia nodded her head in agreement. "Okay, I will wait for you tonight inside the function hall," she said.
"Thank you so much, Granny! You're such an angel! A heaven-sent from above!" Jessy smiled broadly feeling grateful to the old woman. "See you tonight, Granny! I have to go back to the clinic now!"
"Okay, go now!" Alicia said.
Jessy walked briskly towards the building, going back to the clinic, she felt relieved that a guinea pig has already been found to test the anti-vampire vaccine to the newly transformed mortals.
