What!? Girlfriend?! No way! I don't have a girlfriend, I can't have a girlfriend, I never even thought of having a girlfriend. I don't want a girlfriend because I don't want some girl to get tangled with my bad lucks. Why did she even ask me that? Why did she even think of that?
Okay, relax. Relax. I tried to calm myself down.
After finally calming down, I noticed that she had been giggling this entire time. I couldn't help, but look at her, I tried to take my eyes off her but she looked adorable. Just a little. Her smile, her giggling, it was all so cute actually. Even though I don't usually get swayed by these kind of thing but her giggle made me want to smile but no, I can't. Logan control your emotions.
She opened her backpack and took out a case. She opened it, took out a pair of gla.s.ses and wore them. She looked so cute with them on; really, she did look cute.
I didn't realize I was staring at her until she coughed, catching my attention almost immediately. I quickly looked away, coughing, trying to make the situation a bit less awkward. I quickly opened a book, any book I could get my hands on. When I thought the path was clear, I sneaked a glance at Sophia. She was smiling again. oh girl.
'Why is she smiling so much?', I thought dreamily. Her smile is so sweet like honey. I can't help but stare.
'Stop it. Stop it Logan.' I mumbled to myself.
what are you even thinking?
"So, where were we?" She said, light heartedly, breaking the silence.
I sighed, relieved she didn't continue any further, "I guess here, we stopped here."
"Oh, yeah." And we continued with our studies.
There were a total of 5 parts.
The Bell rang when I was just finishing my 3rd one. I finished the 3rd one and took my bag, and noticed Sophia doing the same. I stopped and said, "Shall we leave?"
"Yeah, sure." She replied.
We walked together. I kept walking and didn't realize that I had left her behind. She was walking slowly. I tried to measure her her, maybe she's about 5'3, I guess, whereas I am 5'11. I stopped for her, waiting for her to catch up to me, and when she did, I made sure to make our steps match. And so we continued walking through hallway to cla.s.s, together. For the first time. I felt comfortable walking with someone who wasn't Liam. Not fully comfortable but it wasn't even uncomfortable walking with someone whom I've known for only a couple of hours. walking step by step with someone. I've never done that, especially not with a girl.
When we had reached our cla.s.s and entered through the doors, she took a seat in the second row while I sat in the second last. I always sit there. When the cla.s.s was about to start, she looked back smiled and my eyes widened, wait is she smiling at me? I looked behind me but there was not a single soul. I was confused as h.e.l.l and pointed at myself with whispering 'me?" And she nodded. I did a lip tight smiled and she again smiled. This time I smiled fully. It was completely unintentionally. I didn't mean to smile, but it just happened; her smile is just so contagious. I quickly looked away, clearing my throat in an attempt to make things less awkward yet again, and the teacher came in. And so the rest of the day flew by.
Finally, the bell rang, and it was time to go home. And honestly, I couldn't wait. I picked up my bag and practically ran outside through the backdoor. Like I always do.
On the way to my house, I went to convenience store to buy some snacks. Normally I come here almost everyday with Liam but since I didn't get his message today so I guess he's busy. After finishing up at the cash register, I headed home.
At night when I went to bed, I thought of our college and out of nowhere Sophia suddenly came to mind. The new girl. Well, it was because it was the first time interacting with someone. she was just the way she always was. She looked obedient and listened to every single word I said alertly, smiling too. She looked so cute with her gla.s.ses and.... Wait. Why am I thinking about her?
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
SOPHIA
I woke up to Bailey, my beautiful dog, licking my hand. I got up from where I slept, petting her lightly, and went to the bathroom to freshen up and get ready for college.
When I was done, I walked to college, it being not too far away from where I lived now. It took about 10 minutes and on my way there I saw him. The one who helped me with the a.s.signment. His name's Lo- Logan, isnt? He, too, seemed to have been walking to the college, but on the other side of the road. He probably didn't even see me.
I tried to reach the college before him, but we managed to get there at the same time. He saw me and his facial expression didn't change whatsoever. And this time, I didn't smile either. Keeping myself cool.
We just walked together, it felt a little weird since we were walking in the same direction because we were attending the same cla.s.s. until we reached the cla.s.sroom. I took a seat at the front and he went to the back.
The bell rang, and along with it Ms. Melanie entered. She set some binders down and announced "There's a project and you guys have to do it together in the form of a group. Every group should have five students, and you guys can arrange yourselves into groups," She paused, as if rethinking her decision, "..No, wait. I'll a.s.sign you the groups." She started taking the names of students, allotting them into groups.
The next group names I heard was "Noah, Jacob, Emma Logan and... and what about you Sophia? Why don't you join them? Come on, join the group." She said as she gestured me to the group, "It would be so much easier due to how you and Logan are both well acquainted at this point."
'No we aren't' I mumbled.
Okay, so what should I do now? He seem to avoid me and I don't want to make him uncomfortable, so I noticed a girl looking at me and when our eyes met, she smiled. Considering that she was in the same group, I smiled back.
The last thing Ms. Melanie said before leaving the cla.s.sroom to work on their own was, "You could start your work tomorrow, though it would be better to do it now." With that, we all got busy studying until, finally, the cla.s.s was over and the bell blared throughout the cla.s.sroom.
I looked to the back and saw Logan leaving. oh no. I grabbed my notebooks and the case of my gla.s.ses along with the pencil, I rushed towards him and yelled just like yesterday, "Logan!"
Looks like I have to continue this til the very last day...
He looked at me, looking confused. "Perhaps we should continue with our last two parts?" I said gently, hoping for a positive response.
Logan gave me a blank look, blinked for a couple of second as if he was thinking about something, "Yeah, I totally forgot about it. But, first, let's eat something."
"Yeah sure." I nodded along, relieved that he agreed.
We walked to cafeteria and grabbed our lunch. We were about to take a seat when someone from behind yelled, "Logan! here! I've been waiting for you man, and bring that girl, too, if she wanna come." Okayy. Logan looked at me as if asking me if it was okay and I nodded. We headed towards the source of the yelling.
Honestly, I felt uneasy. Very uneasy.
His friend pa.s.sed me a welcoming smile and said, "Hi. I'm Liam."
I returned the smile, "Hi, I'm Sophia."
"Who just joined the college?"
"Yeah."
He nodded and that was the end of that conversation. So, we just ate our lunch.
