With joy proclaim, G.o.d loved the world, and through His Son forgave us; Oh! what are we, That, Lord, we see Thy wondrous Love, in Christ Who died to save us!

Behold our Friend His Love commend, In that when foes He died to reconcile us; Our flesh He took, His Throne forsook, That from His Kingdom G.o.d might not exile us.

Your refuge place In His free Grace, Trust in His Name, and day by day repent you; Ye mock G.o.d's Word, Who call Him Lord, And follow not the Pattern He hath lent you.

O Christ, to prove For Thee my love, In brethren Thee my hands shall clothe and cherish; To each sad heart Sweet hope impart, When worn with care, with sorrow nigh to perish.

Heaven and earth Received their birth From Thee, in Whom both Strength and Wisdom blended; Let heart and voice In Thee rejoice; Be every knee in adoration bended.

Come, praise the Lord!

In heaven are stored Rich gifts for those who here His Name esteemed; Alleluia!

Alleluia!

Rejoice in Christ, and praise Him ye redeemed!

Epiphaniaslied.

Ernst Lange. 1650-1727.

Epiphany Hymn.

I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and Morning Star.

_Rev._ xxii. 16.

The wondering sages trace from far Bright in the west the Morning-Star A Light illumes the western skies, Seen never in the east to rise.

Eternity produced its blaze, Time's Fulness hails its nearer rays; Its brightness chases night away, And kindles darkness into Day.

O Jesu! brightest Morning-Star!

Shed forth Thy beams both near and far, That all, in these our later days, May know Thee, and proclaim Thy praise.

Gethsemane.

Doch, Vater, nicht Was mein Herz spricht, Was Du willst soll geschehen.

Und dreimal schickt, In Staub gebuckt, Der Mittler dieses Flehen Zum Himmel auf- Vom Himmel d'rauf Wird Lind'rung seinen Wehen.

Heil uns! Er nimmt, So Ihm bestimmt, Den bittern Kelch der Leiden!

Anbetung Dir, Herr, fur und fur, Und Preis in ew'ge Zeiten!

Ungenannt.

Gethsemane.

The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

_Isaiah_, liii. 6.

Within a Garden's bound, Where still night reigned around, A mournful cry of bitter anguish wailed; There, hid from mortal gaze, One knelt in deep amaze, A Heart oppressed beneath its Burthen quailed.

That One, in travail sore, Was our dear Lord, Who bore Our sins' great burthen that on Him was laid; While none could bring relief, To that exceeding grief, The grief that made His human Soul afraid.
