Radley dove under one of the roots and hid his bag underneath it. More spines were incoming this time form a different location. It hit the root with some force nearly snapping it. Was there more than one? If that was the case then he was in trouble. He ran out and scanned the treetops, but he had one major problem. The mist. Both shots indicated that it came from an elevated position. The problem was he was pretty much a normal guy.

He needed a way to perhaps scare it or have it reveal itself. He should try fire. He ran around looking for items to create a simple torch. While this was happening he had to continuously evade the spine shots, but they never came more than pairs of two. He was able to wrap some tinder around a piece of dried wood. He dove to his backpack and looked for the lighter. He had to tilt his head slightly back to avoid an incoming attack, which narrowly missed him. He grabbed the lighter and tried to switch the lighter on. He also used some twine to keep the kindle in place. It quickly caught fire. As soon as it did he tossed it towards the treetops, with the hope that it either scared or revealed the creature or creatures. When he did that he quickly made his way up a tree, using vines. One of the spines nicked him tearing his flesh. Radley decided to climb even higher. He was going to do something daringly. When He reached the upper branches he used the leaves as cover.

He finally got a clear view of the creature. It looked like that of a komodo dragon but larger, and its claws specifically meant for quick climbing. Its teeth were also much longer and p.r.o.nounced. It had black skin with some dark green patterns on it. Under its arm it looked like some sort of webbing, probably meant for gliding. Lv.3, Limun Lacerti Reptilia, protective nature.

Oh s.h.i.t, so that's why it was attacking him. Its nest was probably around here. c.r.a.p, but he can't back away now. His life was in danger. He decided to go full out. He used his agility boost to rapidly descend and hopefully catch the creature off guard. The creature saw this and shot two spines from his shoulders towards him. Thanks to his speed he was able to avoid one, but he was in a very awkward position and couldn't really dodge the other one. The spine shot into his shoulder ripping right through it. It caused a ma.s.sive amount of damage as he lost 33% of his health in that one move, but he still kept moving forward. He used his axe in tandem with his power slam ability and smashed into the creature. It did tremendous amounts of damage but it wasn't enough to kill it. The creature was badly hurt and wasn't moving as fast as he did last time. It tried getting away. Radley wasn't having any of it. He pounced on the creature's back and started hammering away with his axe. The creature started to buck and rear like a wild horse trying to throw off Radley. With one last swing Radley was able to penetrate the creature's skull and kill it.

He suddenly had a new problem. He was in the trees and he was on a dead creature. His energy levels were low but he still had some and used this to grab onto the nearest vine as the creature fell to the ground. The vine happened to snap and he used his ability and to push off a small branch and grabbed on to another vine. This vine snapped too and sent him hurtling towards the ground. Luckily for him, it was just a few feet and he rolled with the ground. He sighed in relief as pain suddenly shot through his arm. The pain from the spine was finally catching up to him. A popup came up 1200 Invo point. 5 Diff points. What? Holy mother of Mary and Joseph. That is the most points he has received yet. Holy c.r.a.p. He was on the home stretch to level two!

He walked over to the dead carca.s.s of the...Radley gave it some thought and decided to call it the Komodo dragon 2.0.

He opened the creature's mouth. It seemed to contain some toxins. He set about butchering the creature. He needed water and a lot of it to properly clean the skin. He wasn't going to make that mistake twice. He could probably use the skin as a makeshift tent or even a sleeping back. He just needed to treat the skin for now. His shoulder was killing him. He regretted not getting a first aid kit or something. He grabbed some leaves, moss, and twine and used his water to clean the wound. The rest he used to staunch the bleeding. It was difficult working with one arm. He took a large leave and used the twine to fix his arm in place.

He set off starting a fire. Instead of eating the MRE he decided he was going to eat the animal. He cut off a chunk of meat and cooked it. He rolled out the skin until and did the same thing as last time and smoked it. It went a lot smoother this time due to the fact that he already knew what he wanted. The dampness did cause some trouble but he was able to keep the fire going. It was still rather early in the day so he decided to look for whatever the creature was guarding. It was rather easy to find the nest because it was a bunch of leaves piled together in a treetop. The problem was with his arm, and getting up there. He grabbed some vines and tested their strength and tied it around his body. He then used his axe and chopped into the tree and made a quick jump and chopped into the tree. Although tiring he was able to get the branch where the nest was. He balanced himself on the tree and made his way to the nest.

What he found there surprised him.
