“We have prepared a farewell gift for those who finished getting their guild cards. If you are not in a hurry, please give us some time to prepare it.”
The woman at the reception counter named Khatia told us so we went to the dining area to have some tea.
“I'm so glad we got a card already.”
“Yeah, it's so easy to get one.”
Rinne held her card with the job cla.s.s written 『Magician』and have the same Rank C as me, although she was inherently strong, and so I said—
“Rinne doesn't need to adjust her magic powers like me. Duke and my other apprentices doesn't know you.”
I received Rinne as my apprentice later than everyone else so they don't know her, even if she somehow exchanged letters with my apprentices in my stead, my apprentices still barely knew about her. That's what I told her——
“No way! It has to go the same as sensei! Even if your other apprentices doesn't know me, this is a precaution just in case my rank affects your journey later on!”
Is her argument, that's why we both have Rank C. But this in turn made everyone suspicious because two newcomers were Rank C at the same time.
“So it's a party of two Rank C, a Magician and a Spirit Magician? This is the first time some promising newcomers were born from Pioneer City.”
“Yeah. Their future is quite interesting.”
I listened to the voices coming from the guild's lobby. There were even curious people watching and some who were expecting something from us. It doesn't seem like they have a bad impression about us so it's fine. I've got my Global Guild card after all.
“Rinne, once we receive the farewell gifts from the receptionist, let's go sightseeing around the town——no, I mean we should go on an adventure after this since I'm now an “Adventurer.”
“Well, there are a lot of things written about this city alone in the letter.”
While in the middle of a conversation with Rinne——
“Eisen-sama, Rinne-sama, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting.”
I heard a Khatia's voice and saw her from behind the counter but she wasn't alone as a man of old quite an old age happens to be accompanying her.
“Eh, receptionist-san, who is this man?”
When I asked the receptionist, she smiled pleasantly before answering me.
“His name is Dominic, a Rank E Spirit Magician. He's a 10 year old veteran in this job cla.s.s and the one in charge of your special training.”
“So you're giving a special training as a farewell gift?”
“That's right. Here in Global Guild, we give free training to newcomers for them to acquire a bit of knowledge, learn a new skill or strengthen a skill.”
“Oh… So there's that sort of thing?”
There are basically two ways to learn the job skills of each job cla.s.s: by using a skill book or by having a person already available to teach it. Exceptions to this are when an individual naturally learned it, blessed by the voices of heavens, or by having innately possessing the skills——but these are all just exceptions because at the bottom line, people learn skills by mastering the general idea of the skill.
“My teachings are free of charge. Besides, this is better than learning by the books.”
So this is one of the techniques the Global Guild and the Company used to gain more members. I'm sure they do this so that many of the members comes back or join their side.
“Err, about this—the Global Guild doesn't use skill books to teach job cla.s.s skills. This is because in case a guild member gained access to a skill book from a different company, it would be seen as not patronising the Company and so, the guild instead hired some professional members on specific job cla.s.ses to teach skills on a certain extent.”
“Oh, that make sense.”
“By the way, the one who came up with this sort of system was also one of the Hundred Heroes that advised the Guild Master of Global Guild. It was thanks to this system that the qualities of each guild members were maintained so it was good for both the guild and the trustees.”
This was certainly a lot better than starting a job without any knowledge, you'll be more efficient in your job cla.s.s and the job you receives if you have learned some job cla.s.s skills personally from a teacher. I think it's because you already have a general idea about your job clads.
“In turn to this, the guild suffered financially though the system certainly made it better. And so, everyone from the guild gave their thanks to the Guild Master's adviser—Felicisan, but she told us—「I have consulted about this from my master where I have gotten the idea for this system. Give your grat.i.tude towards my master not me.」The moment I heard those words, I then imagined how amazing the master that one of the Hundred Heroes speaks of. “
—Fufu, Khatia casually says with a smile.
I have no idea they were gossiping about me while I was in the Other World but some words which hinted about me were quite embarra.s.sing. Speaking of Felicia, I certainly received some letters from her that's asking for my advise and we have exchanged letters a lot.
—No way. So this is what happened. Furthermore, the result was right before my eyes.
Someone must have caught Khatia's attention and to this, I c.o.c.ked my head in wonder as her expression looked apologetic while turning her head towards Rinne.
“It seems that the teacher in charge of training Magicians is not available. Is it fine if Rinne-sama receives her training at a later date?”
“It's fine, don't worry about it, Khatisan.”
“Thank you, I'm glad to hear that—so, will Eisen-sama accept the special training? You can also do it at a later date if you aren't free after this and it's also fine to reject this offer.”
Khatia told me. There's certainly something I want to do now but I can simply also do it later. Moreover, I can't simply miss this chance to gain some knowledge from a veteran with 10 years experience.
“Since I have someone to teach me right away, then I'll gratefully accept this, receptionist-san. I'm in your care, Dominic-san.”
Dominic who's standing behind Khatia smiles while nodding his head in delight.
“Ah, I should be the one that's grateful to be able to teach the rising newcomer, Otis-san. I thought that a Rank C like you would reject the teachings of a Rank E like me. There are only few things I can teach you after all, Otis-san. Let's get along well.”
The two of us shook hands and I then received the special training, a farewell gift from the guild.
