Vanessa's heart throb erratically and her face paled as she thought that she might be accused over something.

But as stubborn as she is, she thought, '…Hmmp, why would I be bothered? I didn't do anything.' Her eyes then moved to a particular person in the room. 'Unless, that person is in this room, too…'

Vanessa sensed something about the man she's staring at. She noticed the way he stares at Ingrid which caused her to pause and ask to herself,

'Does he love Ingrid?'

Lance, in contrast, was caught in his thoughts, too.

'Love triangle? Could this mean that someone wants to kill one of them? But who?" he looked at Clifford and then to Ingrid and examine them their bruises, cuts and…

And he gulped at the thought that enters his mind.

'No, it cannot be…' his thoughts is filled with horror at the thought.

He couldn't understand the reason behind all this, but he's sure of one thing, someone wants to hurt Ingrid. He nonchalantly diverted his gaze from them and his eyes roves around the room, trying to understand his thoughts. His gaze fell at the woman who stood opposite him and is sternly staring at him with suspicion. But when she's caught, she angrily squinted at him and switched her gaze to Clifford.

He furrowed his brows. 'Should I privately investigate this woman?'

Lance went to John's side and excuse himself to call someone and then silently left the room.

"Business rivals are common, but within the family? I believe it's out of the question because we have a good relationship with our family. But love triangle? That person must be a psycho…" Clint expresses his rage upon the matter.

"We cannot tell it now, sir, but also need to look at that angle. Who knows someone may have hold grudges against them or to one of them. Former lovers or obsess admirers, perhaps." The police officer answered.

'Was I the culprit's target?' Ingrid's heart throbs unsteadily and she felt dizzy. She shuts her eyes tightly thinking that her dizziness would disappear.

Rose looks at her daughter and then she whispered to her ear to ask, "Are you alright, dear?"

"I feel dizzy mom, can you continue your conversation in the living room?" she whispered, in the exact moment, John become aware of his wife and daughter's movement. His wife stares pleaded for rescue and she mouthed him the word rest and then Rose leaned on her own hands.

"Excuse me, officers, would you mind if we continue talking in the living room? I think my daughter needs to rest…"

"Of course, sir. I apologize for interrupting your rest, Mrs. Ingrid, Mr. Clifford." the police said ruefully.

One by one they left the bedroom and went to the living room. Vanessa and Clint are the last ones to leave.

"Mr. Clint, I need to take my leave first." But before she left, she went to Clifford's side.

She wanted to caress Clifford's hair and slowly reached out to touch him but she stopped midair and just clenched her hand, pulled it back and just tightened her grip on her purse. She could only bit her lower lip as she holds her emotion.

"I was so worried when I heard the news… I immediately cleared my schedule so that I could pay a visit to my partner, I mean, business partner and to know your condition."

Clint is blown away with Vanessa's behavior. The old man fakes a cough so that Vanessa will be distracted.

"Are you alright, Mr. Clint?" The old man waved his hand and nodded.

"Yes, I am. Thanks! Miss Reiley, I'm sorry but I need to have a private talk with my children, if you won't mind?"

"Absolutely! I won't mind, sir. So.." she heaved a short sigh, "I should take my leave then. Bye Cliff, Mr. Clint, Miss Howard." But her voice becomes cold when she uttered Ingrid's name.

Ingrid wanted to chuckle looking at Vanessa but she controlled it and just showed an amuse expression. She felt that her name is heavy for her to even say it and she addresses her as Miss Howard!

When the woman left she could not stop herself from slowly shaking her head.

"You seem amused, dear? How are you feeling?" Clint went to Ingrid's side and he caresses her hair. Fondness could be seen in his eye.

"Ugh, nothing father. I'm somehow okay now…"

"Dad, won't you ask my condition, too?" Clifford grumbled but still expresses his amus.e.m.e.nt.

"Don't play with me, young man…" he turned his attention to Clifford who looks exactly like his grandson.

"…by the way, Clark is at home." And then he puffs up some air, "he would always ask us where you are. So, we just said that you're out of town. His babysitter for now is Gary. If you could only see the look on Gary's face on his new task, you would have laughed out loud."

Clint chuckled remembering the wide-eyed Gary when they left him earlier. "…he's more nervous to be a baby-sitter than being your personal a.s.sistant, son."
