Rumont, Feivel as well as Nick originally agreed on adventuring together 3 days later. However, because Nick fell short of expectations, it was continued to be delayed.
They needed to organise weapons, since there were going to be risks. The next day, Rumont went to the blacksmiths. The town was in fact really small, it only took a short walk of 5 minutes to reach.
Arriving at the blacksmith entrance, Rumont did not enter, instead, he sighted a youth.
“Rolak! “ he waved.
Rolak with a black eye, hesitated, slowly coming over: “Rumont, the atmosphere around you isn’t half bad. “
Although he seemed tranquility, however, he had a manner about within his eyes, leaking out an unsuppressable envy.
Rumont silently smiled. He had remember, Rolak was considered Rumont’s friend in this town, the two were extremely similar, in thoughts and mannerisms.
Rolak was 15 years old, was the town’s blacksmith, Vyell’s, son. He looked skinny and weak, his appearance was delicate, a touch pale, his eyes were deep and gloomy. If he were to wear better clothings, he would be mistaken for an aristocrat. His height was that of a medium sized adult.
The thin, weak Rolak evidently did not look suitable for the profession of a blacksmith.
Times past Rumont did not notice, however, the present Rumont, once he a.n.a.lyzed his memories, could clearly understand a lot more of the situation.
Old Vyell had considered his son to be a nuisance. Not only was Rolak c.u.mbersome for the family, but it was also because he himself was strong, robust, rough and illiterate. As a result, Rolak’s warm appearance, and innately elegant middle cla.s.s type elegance, caused Vyell to be especially unable to cope with the sight of him. Even more so was that he could not endure Rolak’s love of secretly learning and studying.
This, in actual fact was a type of jealousy and hatred. In his livelihood, he had been pushed around, thus he unconsciously took it out on his son.
Past Rumont, also had the same experiences. As a result, the two were bullied quite often from the youngfolk of the town. They endured a few years with great effort of bullying like this.
Yet at present, Rumont, his friend, had already become a student of a druid. Rolak was unable to contain his envy and depression!
Rumont smiled: “Rolak, inside the shrine, I saw a few magic introductory books, if later I go there for work, I’ll help you borrow them out, do you want to read them? “
Rolak was dazed as he heard, he hesitated a touch, eventually saying: “Yes!”
Rolak, had an extremely rare eidetic memory, any book that he had read, he was able to freely recite. It was an innate skill of intelligence. This was considered, even by a sorcerer’s standards, to be ill.u.s.trious.
This outstanding innate skill was a special gift. Yet, this special gift was incompatible with the giftee, it only brought about suffering and setbacks.
Rolak had read quite a few books, one morning he realized, he wanted to become of the n.o.bility. A beautiful, favoured, rich n.o.ble, then everyone would show him appreciation.
However, this was to hope in vain, as in comparison to reality, he had more suffering because of his mighty innate skill. If he didn’t have the opportunity, he would be buried among the gra.s.s, so much so that he could be compared to the common gra.s.s, only withering away faster.
“Mm, good, I’ll go bring it for you. “ Rumont laughed: “I want to see your dad, I want him to make a sword. I need this sword for practice, as currently I’m under the tutelage of Lieutenant Richard. “
He was a druid yet at the same time as his secondary, he studied a bit of martial arts.
Rolak agreed in response, leading him the way in, after a short while, they arrived in front of a shop store.
Inside, clamouring sounds of clink clank could be heard.
“Rolak, go out and play. “ a palm shortly arrived at the doorway. Originally Rolak already had a black eye, he now spotted an imprint of five fingers: “you useless piece, if you were even half of your older brother, it would be good. “
The one that attacked, was the blacksmith's hardworking Old Vyell. He was busy working hard, as he saw his younger son come in, he felt an unknown anger arise, a palm had slapped him out.
According to Rumont’s sharp vision, he was immersing himself in his work. After Old Vyell, what came out was almost an exact copy, his oldest son, thick and strong, he relaxedly let out a smug expression.
A moment later, the old blacksmith saw Rumont, he promptly put out a smiling expression: “Oh, it’s young Rumont eh, come, have a seat. “
Rumont scratched his head, immediately had the impression that this old blacksmith, from within his memories, had once slapped him.
However, at present, the old blacksmith’s face was full of cordiality, you could even go as far to say there was a trace of flattering.
“Uncle Vyell, I want to study some martial arts under Lieutenant Richard. I need an iron sword, please, of these dimensions. He said, I needed a sword if I’m to follow him. The army storage at the shrine doesn’t have any suitable for me. “ Rumont laughingly spoke.
A druid was not suitable in using metallic armour, because metallic armour could weaken the druid’s responses to nature’s energy. At the same time, a few weapons, being divine, were not made of metal, but were made of equivalent hardness to metal, perhaps even superior to metal, type of materials, that were rarely seen; magical items. Common druids weren’t capable of owning them. If a druid was unable to even use a metallic weapon, they might as well hang themselves.
Wielding a wooden rod to battle?
It could be said that there was no such joke on this world. Fortunately, this world’s druids weren’t like this.
“Oh, this is Lieutenant Richard’s ideas? Be at ease. This Old Vyell, will use his all to create it. How many days do you need it by? “
“Uncle Vyell, how much time would you need? “
“Mm, this is a delicate sword, the dimensions aren’t too long, let me have a look first. “
Rumont nodded his head, leaving his blueprint with the old blacksmith. In reality, this blueprint was created from his previous world’s memories. Previously, he was a collector of famous swords, thus, he was quite familiar with dimensions and crafting methods. After going through a few revisions, it was similar to this world’s yataghan swords. Obviously, it was because he had seen those fine swords somewhere previously, and afterwards, he wandered around and found this blacksmith store.
Although he had seen it many a times in the past, presently, it was still his first time attending with a matured customer’s mentality. Even though his short encounter with martial arts and such wasn’t remarkable, he nevertheless, ended up collecting and appreciating quite a few famous swords and blades. He was unable to deny, whether it was weapons or farming tools, they were by no means only pretty to look at; they were still useful as weapons.
We’ll talk about farming tools later. But people do not only appreciate swords for their beauty. You must understand, that if a finished sword was to be placed on display at a store, it isn’t merely a decorative piece. The sword body is flexible yet durable, it’s blade would possess a keen edge as well as a chilling air, all this combined would represent that this was indeed a killing weapon.
Naturally, Rumont clearly understood, this longsword, would merely be an imitation, not to mention it wouldn’t be an enchanted weapon. However, presently to him, this type of quality weapon, was already good enough.
Finishing up on looking over the blueprints, the old blacksmith was astonished and said: “this sword is really good, don’t tell me, Lieutenant Richard drew this up for you? “
The next second, Rumont let out a small smile, he did not have anything else to add.
However, with this type of mannerism, it caused the old blacksmith to arise suspicions immediately. He currently did not understand Rumont’s status, and as a result, he was even more careful and polite towards him: “No problems, 3 days, Uncle Vyell will within 3 days create it for you. “
“What’s it going to cost? “
Hearing this question, old Vyell pondered over it for a bit; he was a touch indecisive. Smiling once again he said: “Not a big deal, give me 30 silver coins and it’ll be done. “
This was certainly a favourable pricing. It was practically the production cost. Rumont laughed, readily agreeing, only, the funds were to be paid at the time of collecting the sword. Old Vyell did not have any opinion towards this, he understood that Rumont had just become a druid, he currently didn’t have any money.
Not leaving immediately, at the big furnace in the middle of the room, he had a thought, and said: “I need a small knife, to deal with prey, mostly for skinning and similar rough type work. “
While looking around, Rumont also asked: “Uncle Vyell, do you need to use firewood? “
Pausing for a slight moment, he revised his next set of words: “I meant, Uncle, your furnace requires firewood, do you need to buy it from other people. “
“Yeah, how about this small knife? 3 silver coins and it’s yours. “ listened Blacksmith Vyell, as he spread out a few finished products, while in pa.s.sing pulled out the recommended one.
“As for the firewood, it’s usually my son who goes to sort it out. “ he said: “however, sometimes he doesn’t collect enough, usually it’s 10 bundles to 1 silver coin! “
Rumont looked over the small knife, iron quality, and quite sharp, he immediately paid the money, taking the small knife.
As for the pricing of firewood, it caused him to frown, it seemed to be meagre profits. Rumont considered using the trees from his inner s.p.a.ce, turning it into firewood, which would allow him to have a certain amount of profits, after all, normal people would have a limit to their strength. However, if he used his inner s.p.a.ce, he would be able to transport a vast quant.i.ty of firewood for trading. Even if the profits were meagre, multiplying it over, would thus, be a decent amount.
However, he had second thoughts, he felt that there wasn’t any meaning. If he was to carry it out, those with a keen eye would shortly discover his weird behaviour. At that time, it would cause a series of inconveniences; which would be terrible. In addition, Rumont did not know whether using the plants this way, would cause any kind of unforeseen problems. All in all, he still wanted to become a respectable druid.
The costs of logging and transporting were low, the profits were low, moreover, was that Rumont had a special condition, to him, this was a business venture with too high of a risk.
Presently, Rumont, in town, was quite free. As he walked, he silently thought: “at the moment, the most important thing, was to as soon as possible, get a plot of land, build a wooden shop and start up a drugstore. Although it was said that the custom was that the lord baron would supply a few things, however, the majority of it required one’s self to provide. Presently, the most important thing, was to secure a bit of finance. “
Arriving at the shrine, two masters of the shrine, no, the servants of the G.o.ddess. Priest Dennis and Miss Eleni, were both waiting for him inside. Rumont at once went up to them and bowed.
“Oh, Rumont, you’ve arrived at a good time, I’m 100 percent happy to hear about the news, that you’ve been promoted into a druid’s apprentice. “ Miss Eleni’s expression was cheerful as she said: “I’m going to let my daddy know, so that he can properly reward you. “
“Miss Eleni, this would be my honour. “ Rumont said.
“Not bad, Rumont, do you have any plans? “ priest Dennis glanced and said.
“I do, Priest Dennis sir. “ Rumont cautiously and respectfully answered: “I want to study under Apothecarist Anson, gaining knowledge on various medicinal herbs. “
“Oh, but managing herbs is quite exhausting….” Priest Dennis said hesitatingly.
Even though the medicinal garden is within the confines of the shrine, in reality, it didn’t really belong to the shrine. It was a split collaborative with Anson. He naturally wasn’t willing to let Anson have another hand.
Rumont bowed and said: “Priest Dennis, I’m not afraid of hardships, furthermore, I want to study under Mr. Anson. In the future I will live in the outsides, certainly, if it is required, I’m more than willing to service under the name of the G.o.ddess and church.
“In that case, starting from tomorrow, you can come to the shrine, study under Anson and have the privilege of perusing the shrine’s library. “ since there was no disagreements, and Miss Eleni was watching, Priest Dennis hesitated a moment before eventually saying these phrases.
“Yes, lord priest, I’m extremely grateful. “ Rumont was emotionally filled with joy. He said as he bowed: “I’ll take my leave then. “
“Wait a bit, Rumont, you’ve become a druid, you must need some money, This is my gift to you. “ miss Eleni conveniently took out a small pouch, and pa.s.sed it to him.
Rumont once again bowed deeply, holding the small bag, he retreated.
Once he was outside, he opened the pouch, and saw, inside was 20 silver coins. With this, buying the the sword was more than enough. Thinking that it had once taken him 2 years worth of time to earn a silver coin, compared to the present amount of coins. He could not help but lament the results that the differences of power and status brought about.
Thinking it over, Rumont, was prepared to head towards the town’s barracks. Captain Karel had instructed others to take care of him, he was allowed to study some skills under Lieutenant Richard, free of charge. This kind of happy chance, couldn’t be bought with money. Not to mention, he still had the money from the 5 goblin scouts, right?
