Darn!
The two men didn't reply anything. As soon as she saw a big hand reached out to grab her, Nan Yan blindly felt the table behind her for anything that could help. She managed to grasp a teacup which she threw hard at them. One was about to get hit but dodged by leaning his head. As a shattering sound was heard, the cup broke into pieces that scattered on the ground.
Nan Yan immediately dashed forward, wanting to rush out of the room.
However, just as she was about to escape by the door, the other man grabbed her arm and forcefully pulled her back.
"Let me go! Let go!" Nan Yan shouted hard. However, although her yelling was loud, no one heard it as the courtyard was empty. Her voice only echoed inside the walls.
She was forcefully dragged by the man and ruthlessly thrown in a corner. Her forehead hit the wall, and she was immediately knocked out.
While partially conscious, she felt the two men rushing up to her. One of them quickly put the ropes around her neck and tied it tightly.
"No——"
Her voice was forcibly blocked, and the two men continued their silent work; from beginning to end, they had not made a sound. One of the men was holding her up from behind, while the other restrained both her hands so that she would not struggle.
Nan Yan with all her might still attempted to struggle desperately. She tried to kick the stool one of them was sitting on and to strike them, but only managed to have the rope around her neck become even tighter. She couldn't breathe at all, and her neck was about to snap.
Don't tell me, I will die here?
In her mind, this sentence echoed over and over again while she was slowly losing her consciousness. Her legs that were kicking out randomly also gradually lost their strength. As she was about to suffocate, her eyes began to close.
However, right before happening, a familiar voice suddenly came from the direction of the door.
"You two! What are you doing!?"
These words came like a thunderclap and made the intruders stopped dead in their tracks. The man standing behind her noticeably loosened his grip. In addition, the one man restraining her hands released them, got up and strode towards the door.
Nan Yan felt a burst of air enter her nose and the sudden influx of air caused her to choke and cough, but the man at her back noticed it and immediately tightened the rope on her neck.
She was once again feeling Death's sinister and familiar grasp.
However, Nan Yan regained a little clarity and, with her freed hands, felt for and took hold of a sharp object on the ground.
It was a broken piece from the teacup that had been thrown just a moment ago.
She gripped the fragmented piece and slashed at the man quickly.
Ah!
Ah!
A miserable scream escaped each masked eunuchs at the same time.
The rope loosened all of a sudden. Nan Yan quickly turned around and saw that the man had stepped back and was now holding his forehead, with blood flowing down between his fingers.
On the other side, the second eunuch was shoved hard against the wall.
The two men glanced at each other then hurriedly turned and ran out.
The newcomer made to chase them but ultimately gave up and went to the corner where was lying Si Nan Yan, saying, “Si Nan Yan, Si Nan Yan, are you all right?”
Nan Yan felt a burning in her lungs affecting her breathing, and she coughed for a long time.
When she was just barely able to catch her breath, she raised her head and saw a beautiful face. The person in front of her had a severe expression yet their eyes held deep concern for her.
“Xiaoyu, I am fine.”
It was none other than Ran Xiaoyu who had come.
She hurriedly stretched out her hand to remove the rope from Nan Yan's neck. The rope gone, a fearsome deep purple bruise could be seen covering her slender, white neck.
Ran Xiaoyu frowned and asked, “What's going on? Why is someone trying to kill you?”
