"Young miss, please wake up soon." A calm voice called out someone and place a hand on her shoulder while the other holds her right hand.
Young miss?! Wait! She slowly open her eyes and saw a lady wearing a weird outfit. Didn't I die?! She look at her right wrist and didn't see any wound nor blood, her arms and hands are smooth and fair, she almost thought it was translucent that light would pa.s.s through.
I know I have fair skin but not like this! Did I sleep so long in a hospital? Did someone save me? This isn't a hospital where am I?! She look around but all she sees are things that are somewhat ancient. She only sees some of them when she eat at Chinese restaurants.
China?! She look back at the lady in front of her and realized that the clothes she wears are like those in Chinese movies she watched.
"Where am I and who...who are you?" she timidly asked while going to the corner of bed.
The lady was so shock that her eyes seems like to popped out, she hysterically ran outside after a while she came back with an old man and a woman in late forties wearing red ancient clothes.
"Physician Li, please take a look at my child! Why Du'er says my child can't recognized her?" the woman in red anxiously said to the old man. Seems like she's the owner of this place, why did she call me her child?
"Yes, Mistress." the old man respectfully answered then he looked at me with a gentle smile and asks, "Young miss, I know you are worried what is happening but I am here to help you. Please let me check your pulse." I look at him for a while before I hesitantly placed my hand to his wrinkled ones.
As the old man they called Physician Li checks my pulse I look at the woman who looks at me like she wants to hug me and protect me but afraid she will disturb the physician.
The physician frowned and release my hand after few minutes. He gets up from the seat and gestures his hand and look at the woman that they should talk outside. After they close the door, I tiptoed walking near it listening to the voices outside.
"Mistress, the young miss body suffers from forgetfulness"
"How can it be?! Is it possible that she forgot about me as well, her own mother?!"
"I am afraid it is so..."
"Will her memories be back?"
"Unfortunately Mistress, this illness is one without treatment yet. We can only tell in time if the young miss will remember everything or not... What we can mostly do is approach her gently until she gets comfortable with the people interacting with her."
"Maybe it is better she forgets..."
I was startled when the lady called Du tapped my shoulder and gestures me to get back to the bed. I obediently did since I can feel that she genuinely care for me or at least to this body. I didn't try to hear the conversation outside though I am curious why my so called mother would say that maybe it is better that I forget.
