Not So Lonesome Road 46 New Clothes

After eating with me Veronica said she needed to settle a couple things before she left and went off on her own. I figured she was sending a message to the Brotherhood letting them know she would be leaving. That was fine with me since I needed to talk with Ca.s.s and Boone first to let them know she was joining. I could tell they were keeping an eye on everyone here trying to figure out who was going to join us.

When I found them they had just finished their shopping. Ca.s.s bought a pair of new clothes and some toiletries, while Boone bought some supplies to help maintain his Sniper Rifle.

I let them know that Veronica would be joining us and asked if either of them had any problems with the Brotherhood of Steel.

They both were fine with it and didn't mind a new member as long as she pulled her own weight. Ca.s.s in particular seemed happy to have another girl in the group since it was a bit difficult being around boys all day long with no breaks.

I also reminded them not to mention her being from the Brotherhood since she didn't know that we knew. It would be better for us to get to know each other a bit better first before we bring that up.

Ca.s.s decided to take the rest of the day off and read a novel she bought and Boone went to do something to his rifle with the parts he bought.

Seeing everything they bought reminded me that I had been wearing the same pair of clothes for well over a month and they were starting to get rank even by wasteland standards. So I asked Ca.s.s where she got her clothes and she pointed me to the right trader.

It was an younger man apparently his family owned a cotton farm and also had a fair amount of brahmin out in California, and their main source of income was from selling armor and clothes.

He was happy to show me his wares and ended up buying what he called the Wasteland Outfit from him, It was a pair of tan desert colored pants with large pockets and a large brown hoodie. I gladly bought it because when I checked in my Pipboy I saw that it actually added +1 to Endurance and Agility.

I also bought something called and Explorer Hood that was a mask that covered everything but, my eyes and would stopped me from getting wind and sun burn, it also had +1 to Perception. I was curious about it because in New Vegas there were only two armor slots for you face which were for hats and eye wear but, this seemed more like what was in Fallout 4 where you could also wear face masks. So I was interested in seeing if I would get the buff from it because I already tested wearing multiple attribute enhancing clothes before and found out you can only get the buff from one of them.

Lastly I bought a pair of Goggles, the Sungla.s.ses I had were good but, they made it harder to see at night even with my night vision and their +1 Perception. Plus when it gets windy the gla.s.ses aren't as good at stopping the sand and dust from getting into my eyes as I would like. The Goggles which were basically just Ski Goggles would keep my eyes protected and also still gave the +1 to Perception like the sungla.s.ses.

Once I picked out a couple more things and finished paying I went and found someplace private to change. I took off my old gross cloths that didn't give me and stats for some reason and changed them out for my new stuff.

First I put on the Wasteland Outfit followed by my Leather Armor and the new Leather Bracers I also bought, so that wouldn't get cut up like I did with that ghoul in Repconn again. Then I put on the Regulator Duster followed by the Explorer Hood, Goggles, and Cowboy Hat.

I then brought my Pipboy up and checked my special to see my new upgrades.

+1 Charisma for the Regulator Duster, another +1 Charisma from the Cowboy Hat, +1 Endurance and Agility from the Wasteland Outfit, and one +1 Perception each from the Explorer Hood and Goggles. I smiled when I saw all the stats it looked like the Explorer Hood was like the Bandana's from Fallout 4.

With my new clothes on I could feel a very clear difference my body felt lighter and my reactions were quicker. The world seemed clearer and everything sounded crisper, it made wonder exactly how monsterous it would be to have a 10 in every stat. Sadly that probably wasn't possible for me but, that didn't mean I wasn't going to try.

I also wondered why exactly some clothes had buffs and some didn't? Was it how they were made? Their quality? Or was it something else? Could I make my own Clothes? I didn't have skills for it or a menu like in Fallout 4 but, it was definitely worth looking into when I have the time.

Not quite done with my shopping yet I went and checked the other Caravans to see what they had and ended up finding some one that was selling books and magazines. Most of them weren't the skill kind and were only normal books but, what I found interesting was that there weren't any new books being sold. Everything was all from before the war.

It gave me an idea, most people in this world were focused on just surviving and didn't have time for creative projects like that but, I was different. I lived most of my life in an entirely different world and had a perfect memory. I could easily copy some of the more famous works of my world.

The only hard part would be getting it printed because there wasn't exactly an over abundance of wood in the Mojave to make paper with. But, that wasn't an unsolvable problem and if I actually did do that. It would be a good way to start speading new morals and idea's to people. I would have to see about getting a note book so I can get started ahead of time.
