Even from a distance we could see the billowing clouds of smoke that were rising from the town.

"Those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds really did it they wiped out an entire town!"

"We should prepare ourselves it's probably going to be even worse once we get into town."

Ca.s.s nodded "If half the things I've heard are true then its going to be a horror show."

As we approached I saw that the plumes of smoke weren't from burning buildings but, from piles of tires that were set around the town. The Legion probably placed them so anyone who sees Nipton would know it was destroyed.

There were dead bodies strewn throughout the streets and the smell of rotting flesh filled the air. I had to force myself not to vomit and breathed through my mouth to try and avoid the stench. Looking over I saw that Ca.s.s wasn't doing any better.

The worst though was the crucifixes spread along the main street. Dried blood caked their arms and legs where nail were pierced into their bodies to attach them to the crosses. With my limited medical skill I could see that the nail were all driven into places that avoided any arteries or veins. The Legion didn't want the to bleed out they wanted them to suffer and be a warning about crossing them.

Seeing all of that it finally hit me just how awful the Legion really was. I promised myself that if I ever gained control of New Vegas and the Securitron army, that I would wipe the Legion of the face of the earth!

"Should we cut them down" Ca.s.s whispered while staring crucified men.

"No" I shook my head "they're too weak it would probably kill them. Besides look at their ankles the Legion cut their achilles tendons. Even if we got the down and they survived they would never be able to walk again."

I could see he gritting her teeth and getting ready to grab her rifle but, I stopped her.

"Why are you stopping me! The best thing we can do for them now is put them out of their misery."

"I know" I sighed "but" I pointed down to the far end of the street were a group of men had just exited the town hall.

They wore metal helmets and shoulder guards and leather armor that was stained blood red.

I could hear Ca.s.s spit under her breath "The Legion!"

"Ca.s.s" I whispered "I know your angry but, try and hold back. They don't look like they want to fight."

"But!"

"I promise you we'll get back at them in the future but, for now we're out numbered and out gunned. We have to wait for a better chance."

Her fists clenched so tightly onto her Revolver that her knuckles turned white but, eventually she did let go.

As we got closer to the town hall the legionaries approached us in perfect formation led by a man whose face was covered in a wolf skin hood.

"Allow me to introduce myself" he said "I am Vulpes Inculta and do not worry we will not crucify you like those lesser sc.u.m. I am actually quite thankful that you happen upon when you did."

"And why is that" I asked?

"Because" he let out a feral grin "I want you to witness the fate of Nipton, to memorize every detail. And then when you move on, I want you to spread what happened here. To let everyone know the lesson Caesar's Legion taught here. So they know how foolhardy it is to go against us."

Ca.s.s went for her gun but, I grabbed her arm and stopped her. And while she was still struggling I looked to Vulpis Inculta.

"You, don't need to worry I promise you that everyone in the wastes will know what happened here today."

"Excellent" he clapped his hands "Now if you'll excuse me, me and my men need to be leaving. There is still much work to be done so that the light of Ceasar can spread throughout the Mojave."

He and his men started heading south out of town. Most likely heading to Cottonwood Cove if I remembered right.

When they got far enough away I finally let go of Ca.s.s. She rushed up and grabbed me by the collar "I can't believe you just let them leave like that after everything they did!"

I looked her in the eyes and could see that she was crying.

"You know" I said pushing her off me "originally I was planning to just let them leave and get back at the Legion another time but, I changed my mind."

I pulled out my Grenade Launcher and fired a shoot into the backs of the retreating legionaries killing three of them instantly.

Vulpis and his surviving men reacted instantly as expected of season soldiers like them and drew their weapons ready to fire at me. But, even if they were fast I was faster. I let the Grenade Launcher fall to the ground as I drew my Service Rifle. In VATS I was able to easily take out the other the legionares leaving only a couple of attack dogs and Vulpa Inculta himself.

I fired a shot into Vulpa's chest knocking him to the ground and drew my Pistol and took out the two dogs who were rushing me.

Once it was done I holstered my Pistol again and let out my breath.

I looked over to Ca.s.s and saw her completely dumbfounded face.

"You should close your mouth before you start catching flies" I mocked.

She gulped "You know even after the NCR Confirmed it I still didn't quite believe you killed all those ant. Didn't believe one person could be that deadly but, now I completely believe it."

"To be fair I didn't kill most of those ants ED-D did. He can fly and it was impossible for them to hurt him."

"That doesn't change the fact that you just took out seven legionaries without them even being able to fire a shot!"

"Yeah, yeah" I waved her off "I know I'm awesome."

We spent the rest of the day doing our best for the town. Me and Ca.s.s dragged all of the dead bodies into a pile and set it on fire. It was crude but, it would have been impossible to dig that many holes in the hard desert ground and was still much better than just leaving them out to rot.

While we were doing that I had ED-D put out all of the crucified out of their misery. Since he wouldn't feel guilty while doing it unlike us.

Next we searched the town for any valuables. It probably wasn't the nicest thing we could have done but, both of us agreed it was better than leaving it to raiders.

There was alot of useful stuff I found. In the town hall after killing a few attack dog the Legion left behind I found a Big Book of Science that would raise my Science to 54 once I read it.

I also got 5 more frag mines from a b.o.o.by trapped house and found three new weapons in another that was guarded by a Mister Gutsy. There was a .357 Revolver, a Plasma Pistol, and a Laser Rifle.

I nearly jumped in excitement when I saw them real life energy weapons! I couldn't help myself from giving each of them a test fire.

The Plasma Pistol fired a baseball sized glob of glowing green energy that burned a hole in the house I fired it in. Even though it was just a pistol it had a suprising amount of recoil it almost threw itself from my hand. It was like I just fired a Shotgun.

The Laser Rifle was also the same having an unusual amount of kickback and by that I mean having any at all. It fire a pencil thin beam of blue light so it literally shouldn't have any recoil or sounds when it fired. Yet it had both! I would have to look into it when I had time because it was really bothering me.
