Chapter 358 Engagement invitation
“Are you Miss Gu?”
A man outside the door with a package in his hands looked up at Gu Yan’s eyes. He marveled at her appearance when he saw her, trembled and handed her the package.
“Miss Gu, here is your package…” Gu Yan was attracted by his soft voice and couldn’t help but looked at him. He was a gentle man and his appearance matched his voice well.
Gu Yan was confused about the package because she didn’t buy anything online. Who would send her a package?
The first person related to this package came to her mind was Mo Yichen. She thought whether he was stung by conscience and bought a gift to apologize.
“Is the consignee Gu Yan?” Gu Yan confirmed again and got a little happy.
The man checked again and said, “Yes. Miss Gu, it is your package. Please sign for it…”
Gu Yan took the package which was thin and seemed more like a few pieces of paper or something else… It was totally different from what she imagined. After signing for it, Gu Yan came in with it.
“What is it? An apology letter? Come on! It is outdated for Mo Yichen to write a letter to me, but it seems not bad.” Gu Yan thought to herself and the curiosity prompted her to open it right away.
It would take a long time to send this letter from abroad to her. If Mo Yichen wrote this letter on the day after the quarrel, Gu Yan thought she might forgive him because it took a long time to send a letter from abroad.
Now Gu Yan was anxious and struggled with this issue whether she should forgive him or not if it was really an apology letter. She got no idea.
Getting rid of those messy thoughts, Gu Yan was about to open it with a scissor. All of a sudden, someone grabbed the package.
Gu Yan looked at her empty hand and then she angrily looked at the woman.
“Manla, you are so annoying. Give it back to me!” Gu Yan yelled at her loudly, picked up a bolster close to her and threw it to Manla.
“Let me see what it is. I see you are going to open it meticulously. Is that a love letter? Why does he send it to you in person?” Manla checked the return address but found nothing. She was confused, scratching her head.
“What else could it be? Most likely, it is a court summons!” Gu Yan’s words ruined all Manla’s imaginations. Manla curled her lips and handed it to Gu Yan.
Manla took an apple on the table and sat on the sofa. She looked over at Gu Yan while she ate it.
Gu Yan took a deep breath and carefully opened it only to find that it was a card.
Manla leaned in and saw a red card. It was an engagement invitation.
“I think few people will send an engagement invitation by express now. The sender is really ridiculous…” Manla was mocking at the sender while eating. However, when she turned back to Gu Yan again, she just found Gu Yan burst into tears with her eyes fixing on the card tightly.
“What happened? Don’t cry.” Manla gently touched Gu Yan with her arm, but she cried even harder. Gu Yan tore up the card and threw them in the trash can.
Manla was confused and picked them up. The names of the couple on the card were so harsh but familiar at the same time.
“Mo Yichen and Chen Qian?” Manla chuckled when she saw their names on the card. She thought Gu Yan must be fooled by someone who wanted to ruin the relationship between her and Mo Yichen. There was no doubt that it was Chen Qian.
The air throughout the room was so stuffy, which made people depressed…
Manla handed Gu Yan some tissues and sat on the sofa. She planned to talk with her when she felt much better.
However, Gu Yan kept crying and even cried louder and louder. Manla sighed deeply and sat closer to her.
“Yan, think about it. Mo Yichen is still in abroad. How could he have time to discuss the engagement with Chen Qian? What’s more, to figure out the truth, we just need to ask Mo Yichen. Don’t waste your tears before you know the fact.”
Manla helped Gu Yan to adjust her hair and patted her shoulder softly. “Mo Yichen, you are really a coward. The one you love is sad, but you leave her alone. She has been bullied so much by Chen Qian. Where are you?” Manla scolded Mo Yichen in her heart.
“Manla, what if all this is true?” Gu Yan was heart-broken. She did her best to calm down but failed. Her tears rained down. Her red and swollen eyes had become mere slits. She looked at Manla pathetically and turned to her for comfort.
Manla looked back at Gu Yan. She felt that a chill ran through her, and when she saw Gu Yan was so grieved, she felt heartbroken.
Gu Yan and Mo Yichen really hit it off. Now, Gu Yan was in her bad time and needed him very much. But she was told by someone Mo Yichen was about to be engaged to another woman, which gave her too great a shock.
“Yan, that is impossible. You can think about it. Mo Yichen loves you so much, so he will not do anything hurting you, right?” Gu Yan couldn’t listen to her at all. She took out her phone and deleted all the pictures related to Mo Yichen.
“If so, why hasn’t he contacted me for so long? Now I got it. The reason why he has not called me is that he is going to be engaged to Chen Qian. No wonder…” Gu Yan sneered and mixed feelings were hidden in her eyes.
Manla wanted to comfort her but she didn’t know what to say.
Manla thought that if she were Gu Yan, she would just be agitated as her or even more. The studio failed and now her love was also in crisis. It seemed that these troubles appeared as if they were arranged in advance. Gu Yan was only a weak woman, and how could she deal with these frustrations?
It was easy for people to lose their senses when they encountered one setback after another. Love was a matter between two people. Only when they worked together could it be managed well. It was not fair to blame anyone when their love disappeared.
