Chapter 297 Which one should I wear?
Gu Yan finally got the job done with Jiang Jingcheng. She glanced at the time and then took a taxi back to her home because she wanted to dress up to meet Xiangyan.
“Manla, what do you think I should wear tonight?” Gu Yan looked at her clothes in her wardrobe and frowned. She didn’t know she should choose which one. These clothes were nothing special at all because all these she would wear in daily life.
She looked though every piece of clothing but could not pick out one which was well-content. She thought that all these were outdated and would make her feel awkward if she wore any of them. But this year, she didn’t have enough time to dress her up because she was too busy to do that. She didn’t even have a little time to buy some new clothes.
Gu Yan took out a white dress, which was a bit of old. But it was embroidered with a lovely little yellow flower on the front of chest. Gu Yan looked lack of energy when she was in the dress, glittering a trace of bitterness in her eyes. Then she felt frustrated and scratched her head.
She looked at herself in the mirror, staring dreamily her great figure. But suddenly, she was pulled back to reality by Manla.
Manla looked at helpless Gu Yan, the muscles in her face were tightened. Manla also felt sorry for her and thought, “What a poor woman. For her love, she has to please her mother-in-law even if that woman doesn’t like her.” Manla didn’t want to say any bad words to knock Gu Yan’s confidence because she knew Gu Yan was in a dilemma well and felt sympathetic to that. All she wished was that Gu Yan could be happier and different from the last marriage.
She walked slowly close to Gu Yan with a bottle of water in her hands. Then she put down the water on the desk and looked at Gu Yan up and down interestingly.
“You know what? Although you look good and lean in this dress, I still feel that’s too femininity. I have an illusion that you look like a virtuous wife and fine mother. Do you know it? What’s more…” Manla said with disgust and leaned on a sofa. Her thumb kept touching her chin.
“Illusion? This is how I am, OK? I’m good at poetry and painting. And I can do whatever a good wife or mother does. How could it be an illusion?” Gu Yan said.
“Yeah, Yeah, Yeah… You are right, you are a hard-working person!” Manla said perfunctorily and looked at Gu Yan who was sulked.
“What did you want to say after ‘what’s more’? Is this dress really that bad?” Gu Yan asked.
Gu Yan was a little upset because she paid much money for the dress last year, and it was highly selective. Compared with the rest clothes in her wardrobe, this one was the most expensive one.
“This dress is worn out. It looks like you have had it for a long time although you don’t often wear it. You are really a dress killer.” Manla said.
Manla pointed at Gu Yan’s dress here and there. Manla was not very satisfied with the dress, and the expression on her face could be described in words.
“I feel good although it was a little worn out. It’s not as bad as you said.” Gu Yan said and stared at the place where Manla pointed at.
At this moment, Gu Yan felt more and more embarra.s.sed and irresolute because Manla was her best friend. On the one hand, she was so cared about what Manla said. On the other hand, she thought Manla was a little unreliable. She knew exactly Li Yunhong’s att.i.tude towards her. She would not be the only one who would be embarra.s.sed if Li Yunhong got any unpleasant from her.
“OK, fine. If you feel good, it is good. Go ahead to meet your arrogant mother-in-law in this dress. Let’s see what she would say to you.” Manla said.
Manla didn’t want to persuade her because she knew Gu Yan well. The more might backfire unless she said that way, which could really work to Gu Yan.
Manla glanced at Gu Yan again, and then she crossed her legs and swiped her phone while eating the fruit on the table.
Exactly, it worked. Gu Yan knew she must be dress up although Li Yunhong didn’t like her. The person she was going to meet was her mother-in-law in future, and she had to change the impression in Li Yunhong’s heart so that she could go further with Mo Yichen.
Gu Yan’s body was frozen for a moment, and her eyes was fixed on herself in the mirror. Certainly, the person in the mirror was just like a pa.s.ser-by and didn’t look so good as Chen Qian, who could tell at a glance in the crowd.
“Manla, what should I do? I don’t have a decent dress, which one should I dress to meet Mo Yichen’s mom? In addition, what gift should I take? I don’t understand any of these manners. What should I do? What’s more, I was too embarra.s.sed to ask Mo Yichen.” Gu Yan said.
Gu Yan hesitated for a moment and came to Manla. She crouched down and shook Manla’s crossed legs while she was staring at Manla with full desire in her eyes. Manla was destressed and couldn’t refuse her.
“Okay, fine. Don’t worry. Let’s go shopping. It’s not too late.” Manla said.
“What can I do with you!” Manla said and stabbed Gu Yan’s forehead with finger strongly. She looked at Gu Yan reluctantly.
“I know you are my best friend, and you are the kindest girl in the world. I promise I will give you the lipstick you saw last time if it goes well this time!” Gu Yan said and jumped up happily. She teased Manla, who pretended to be angry.
“Really? Do you want to give it to me? Why didn’t you say it early?” Manla said and became joyful. But she realized something and scratched her head awkwardly.
Gu Yan gathered up the pile of clothes in front of her, wore her shoes and was ready to go.
Shortly afterwards, they arrived at a shopping mall by taxi. Gu Yan felt frustrated when she saw different kinds of clothes. How could she choose the best one which could fit her best?
Gu Yan was an easy-going girl. Most of the time, she didn’t like to go shopping unless she needed to buy clothes for Mo Yichen or Mo Xiangyan. All her clothes were bought by her a.s.sistant, and she was nothing to do with these clothes in front of her. It was really a big challenge for her.
