Chapter 237 I wanted dad only
Holding Gu Yan’s soft hand, Mo Xiangyan suddenly remembered what had happened before. He had asked her if she could be his mother, while she had been unwilling to answer this question, as if she was reluctant.
Mo Xiangyan was sad. “Am I naughty? Why doesn’t she want to be my mom since she is so good to me? Why do other people have their own mom and dad while I only have a dad?”
The more he thought, the more sorrowful he was. He had wished for a beautiful and elegant mother like Gu Yan from a long time ago. Such a person finally appeared, but she didn’t want to be his mom.
After Xiangyan tried hard to free himself from Gu Yan’s hand, he ran to Mo Yichen without looking back. He dragged one of Mo Yichen’s sleeves and frowned, with his eyes full of unhappiness.
He raised his head and stared at the jaw of Mo Yichen. He became tearful but tried to suppress his sadness, as if the tears would flow in the next second, which made Mo Yichen distressed.
It confused Gu Yan that Mo Xiangyan’s mood changed instantly when they had just come out of the mall. Gu Yan thought, “Are children like women? Are their att.i.tudes toward others are as changeable as the weather?”
“What’s matter with him? Why was he suddenly unhappy? Did I say something wrong?” Gu Yan repeatedly asked herself. She had an indescribable feeling when seeing that Xiangyan ran totteringly ahead.
“Dad, I don’t want to play. I want to go to the bookstore to read some books alone.”
A clear voice from Xiangyan broke the silence in the air. People’s eyes were fixed at this lively and lovely boy.
Xiangyan slightly lowered his head, with his eyes staring at the well lid of the sewer on one side, and kicked the small cobblestones on the roadside. His voice was very low. It seemed that he was angry more than tired.
Everyone was confused about his words and behavior.
“Xiangyan, today Aunt Gu specially spared her time to hang out with you. You must cherish this opportunity. It’s hard to play with her next time.”
Mo Yichen half squatted, with his hands resting on Xiangyan’s shoulder and his eyes narrowing into a slit. He wished Xiangyan to think clearly and make a good decision.
“Dad, now I just want to go to the bookstore to read the comic book unfinished last time…”
Feeling embarra.s.sed, Mo Yichen was unfriendly to Xiangyan and was about to get mad. Mo Yichen thought, “You made trouble on such an important day. It seems that you won’t be obedient unless I teach you a lesson!”
“Yichen, let’s accompany Xiangyan to the bookstore. He has just recovered. Going to the bookstore is better than being exposed to the sun. The bookstore is quiet and has an excellent environment.”
Gu Yan moved slowly behind them and got close to Xiangyan. She touched his head but was pushed by him. Clearly frightened by his sudden behavior, she stood still and felt at a loss.
Mo Yichen felt puzzled by Xiangyan’s behavior too. Xiangyan had amused and helped Gu Yan at lunch and gone shopping happily. Mo Yichen was confused, “What happened all of a sudden?”
“Did they come into conflict?”
Now Xiangyan turned to one side, with his mouth closed tightly. There was a hint of bitterness in his black eyes, made him gloomier.
Mo Yichen knew Xiangyan’s temper most. Xiangyan must have his reasons for behaving so. He was so stubborn that it was hard for a person to deal with him. So, he might not accept the truth for a short time if Mo Yichen spoke to him. What was more, the matter concerned the relationship between them, so Mo Yichen should handle with it prudently.
Mo Yichen was helpless towards Xiangyan. He stood up reluctantly and hugged Gu Yan, patting her on the back to give her silent comfort.
Gu Yan said in a soft voice: “It’s OK. It’s really nice to go to the bookstore. We can still have a good time together.” She put her arms around Mo Yichen’s arm and leaned on his shoulder. At that moment, happiness permeated her pretty face, which looked even brighter in the sunlight.
Hearing that Gu Yan would also go with them, Xiangyan had a brainwave and pulled Mo Yichen to leave. He said, “Dad, I want to be with you today. I haven’t been alone with you for a long time.”
Mo Yichen leaned back slightly by Xiangyan. To his surprise, Xiangyan was very powerful. He looked at Gu Yan awkwardly, and felt at a loss.
It seemed that the situation was more serious. Mo Yichen thought he needed to find the best solution soon. Otherwise, Mo Xiangyan would go on making troubles. If he got angry, n.o.body could coax him and it would lead to others’ success. At the thought of the extremely serious consequence, Mo Yichen was panicky.
“Well, Gu Yan, you can go back first. Don’t worry about us. I’m here. All is well.” Mo Yichen said embarra.s.sedly. He looked at Gu Yan deeply and shot her a glance, hinting that he would handle with it properly.
“It’s fine. You two go first. I’m a little tired today. Have fun, guys. Don’t worry about me.” Gu Yan tried to smile and echoed Mo Yichen’s words. However, she was heartbroken in fact.
Looking at their receding figures, Gu Yan was extremely disappointed. Although she was Mo Xiangyan’s mother, she couldn’t guess his inner thoughts at all. Nothing could be sadder for a mother than being unable to share her son’s worries and help him solve the difficulties in his life.
“Xiangyan, what’s the matter with you? Aunt Gu is always very kind to you. Why do you suddenly hate her so much? That’s not the way you do things.”
Mo Yichen asked as he was pulled by Xiangyan.
“Dad, I like Aunt Gu as well. But she doesn’t want to be my mom, so I’m very sad. That’s why I don’t want to talk to her.” Xiangyan explained.
Mo Yichen was shocked and thought, “This silly boy should put it in mind. It’s lucky that nothing else happened.” He was relieved finally.
Mo Yichen stopped and stood still. Xiangyan was pulled back by him, inclining his head and looking at his father with puzzlement.
Mo Yichen then half squatted, holding Xiangyan in his arms. He suddenly became serious, as if he was going to announce something important.
“Xiangyan, you should know that your grandma doesn’t like your Aunt Gu. She just wants Aunt Chen to be your mom. You know that, and so does your Aunt Gu. Aunt Gu just doesn’t want to give you an answer too soon. She is afraid of breaking your heart. You should understand her difficulties.” Mo Yichen said.
