Chapter 369: Alert Triggered
“What’s the situation in the pa.s.sage?”
Su Jincheng was also nervous. He walked to Parason and asked.
“It’s not bad.”
Parason had just taken a breath and was about to say something.
The next second, the entire shelter sounded an alarm.
“Alert! Alert!”
“Unknown lifeform has been detected!”
“Alert! Alert!”
Su Jincheng’s already tense nerves were triggered again. He asked loudly, “What’s the situation?”
“It’s an alert from the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt. An unauthorized creature has been detected!”
A research personnel lowered his head to control the main control system. He was sweating profusely.
“Unauthorized creature? What’s that?”
“I’m not sure, I’m still checking...”
“It’s the Licker Invasion.”
Fang Heng interrupted the conversation between the two and conveniently controlled the main control console. He switched the screen projection to a monitor on the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt.
“Dong! Dong Dong!!”
On the screen, the ventilation duct’s net was forcefully pushed open by the Lickers.
Two Lickers crawled out from the ventilation duct and quickly climbed along the wall.
In the corridor, two members of the Night Owl organization realized the zombie invasion and immediately pulled out their guns and fired.
“Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang!!”
The pa.s.sage was narrow and the Lickers were immediately hit by a few bullets.
However, the bullets didn’t stop the Lickers. They continued to move along the ceiling at an extremely fast speed and pa.s.sed over the two players of the Night Owl organization.
“Not good! They’re heading towards the central research room!”
Fang Heng once again switched to the surveillance screen, positioning the screen outside the research room in the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt.
The four Night Owl organization players were ready for battle. They held their automatic rifles tightly in their hands and faced the corner of the pa.s.sage.
“Shoosh!”
Two red shadows flashed past the corner.
“Bang Bang Bang!!! Bang Bang! Bang Bang!”
The four players pulled the trigger almost at the same time.
The Lickers kept changing its angle and flew along the wall towards the Night Owl player.
“They’re coming!”
A flashbang was thrown out of the player’s hand.
“Pa!”
A strong light flashed.
“Weng...”
The ultra-high frequency sound wave emitted by the flashbang was a great restraint on the Lickers.
Affected by the sound wave, the two Lickers lost their sense of direction and fell from the air.
“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Following that, the bullets landed on the two Lickers.
Su Jincheng stared at the screen.
The Lickers on the screen looked very familiar.
He thought of the group of Lickers he saw outside the Federation’s shelter last night.
Vaguely, Su Jincheng noticed a red light appearing under the Lickers’ skin.
“Oh no!”
Su Jincheng suddenly shouted, “Run!!!”
“Boom!!!”
He was still one step too late. The two Lickers’ bodies exploded in the pa.s.sage.
Red blood splashed out in all directions.
The four players were still quite far away. Two of them were unlucky, but the blood splashed on the silver mask.
Almost instantly, the thin layer of the silver mask was dissolved by the blood!
The blood stained the skin.
“Ah!!”
The two players immediately cried out in pain and subconsciously reached out to touch the silver mask.
The blood had dissolved a large part of their faces.
When their hands touched it, it was instantly a b.l.o.o.d.y mess!
“F*ck! Don’t move! Don’t touch the wound!”
The other two players were also shocked by the horrifying scene. They immediately took out the first aid spray, grabbed the struggling victims and sprayed wildly at the wounds.
Affected by the explosion, a large part of the pa.s.sage was corroded by the Lickers’ blood.
In front of the monitor screen, the players looked serious.
“The Lickers with the self-destruct ability is the same batch that we saw last night.”
Sikong Mao was not here and Su Jincheng knew that he could not control the situation in front of him.
He forced himself to remain calm. He looked at Parason and asked, “Are they from the Federation?”
“I don’t know. The Federation isn’t that fast, right? And aren’t they still dealing with the vampires outside? It doesn’t make sense that they’ve already broken into the shelter...”
“Then where did they come from?”
“How do I know... Have you contacted Sikong Mao?”
“I’ve already contacted him. Due to the signal, I haven’t received a reply yet.”
“Then what should we do?”
Parason was very nervous. He was both shocked and afraid.
Fortunately, the two Lickers did not come towards the central stabilizer. Otherwise, once they self-destructed, the entire pa.s.sage stabilizer would be paralyzed and the time pa.s.sage would be destroyed!
Fang Heng pursed his lips and switched the big screen projection to the ventilation duct’s exit.
“Both of you, now is not the time to argue. I don’t think we should sit and wait for death. From the current situation, the Lickers entered the shelter through the ventilation duct as an entrance.”
Fang Heng encouraged him at the right time, “There are no internal surveillance cameras in the laboratory on the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt. Should we go there and check? It would be better to seal the ventilation duct’s exit as well.”
“And those wounded...”
After Fang Heng’s reminder, Su Jincheng and Parason couldn’t help but look at each other.
That’s right!
The sixth bas.e.m.e.nt!
That was the secret research room that Sikong Mao had specially set up. It was also part of this plan.
There must be no mistakes!
....
Su Jincheng gathered all his men and left a portion of the Night Owl players to guard the time pa.s.sage. He brought another group of players and rushed to the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt to provide support.
In the pa.s.sage opening on the sixth bas.e.m.e.nt, a few Night Owl players were guarding below the entrance of the ventilation duct that had been broken open. They aimed their muzzles at the opening of the ventilation duct and were on guard against Lickers who could jump out of the pa.s.sage at any time.
“Have you checked them all?”
“I’ve roughly checked them, but the ventilation duct is very deep. I don’t know where the Lickers invaded from.”
One Night Owl player was still frightened. He shrunk his neck and carefully explained, “We can’t climb into the ventilation duct and thoroughly check it.”
Fang Heng followed Su Jincheng and the other players and raised his head to look at the ventilation duct entrance above.
It was dark inside the entrance.
The s.p.a.ce inside the ventilation duct was narrow. It was troublesome for an ordinary person to turn around. If they met a Licker, they would be courting death.
Su Jincheng also realized the problem and frowned.
“Think of a way to seal it first. Seal the other ventilation duct openings as well.”
“Yes!”
Fang Heng curled his lips and asked, “What’s the situation in the laboratory? Is there a ventilation duct opening inside?”
“This, the security level in the laboratory is even higher. We don’t know.”
Su Jincheng’s heart tightened again when he heard that.
“Let’s go! Bring me to take a look!”
Su Jincheng brought everyone to the laboratory’s door and verified their ident.i.ties before opening the metal door.
Everything in the laboratory was safe and sound.
More than ten researchers raised their heads at the same time and looked at the people outside the door.
Seeing the scene in the laboratory, Fang Heng’s pupils suddenly constricted.
This...
Cultivation pods?!
More than half of the entire sixth bas.e.m.e.nt laboratory was occupied by large cultivation pods.
Many researchers were doing data calculations around the cultivation pods.
Fang Heng had a rough look and there were at least 40 of them.
More importantly, Fang Heng found that these cultivation pods were extremely familiar!
