Chapter 2328 Book on Crafting
"Is that so..." Fang Heng looked at Miles and asked, "Did you find the book on crafting the sacred tree branches and leaves?"
Miles shook his head.
The book on crafting G.o.d Tree branches and leaves was just a hoax to deceive Fang Heng.
Even if it existed, it wouldn't be found inside the Temple of Incantation.
Fang Heng had already guessed as much.
He was holding onto a faint hope, though not particularly disappointed.
"Well then, when are you going to send the other things over to me? I think when your items arrive here, Elder Serge will certainly be willing to go back with you."
"Indeed, we originally planned to immediately transport the materials over, but we encountered a problem in between," Miles said seriously. "The Wood tribe suddenly launched a concentrated attack on our settlement. We are currently fully engaged in repelling their a.s.sault and have no spare capacity to handle the transportation of materials. Please convey to Elder Serge that we urgently need him to return to a.s.sist in protecting our tribe."
"In addition, we also hope you can help us resist the Wood tribe's attack. As compensation, we are willing to provide an additional sacred tree root branch. Once we repel the Wood tribe's a.s.sault, all the materials will be delivered to you together."
"Oh?" Fang Heng's expression gradually darkened. He responded, "Elder Miles, this seems to go beyond our agreement."
"Please help."
Reluctantly, Miles uttered the word 'please'.
To ask for help from a human?
For the Leaf tribe, it was an immense disgrace!
Fang Heng stared at Miles intently, "I can't help but feel you're threatening me."
"Absolutely not! The Wood tribe's attack came unexpectedly sudden this time, and our defense forces were very weak. The sacred tree sapling is still in a critical phase of absorbing energy. If it's interrupted, all our previous efforts would be in vain."
Miles was not lying about this.
If it wasn't for the crisis, they wouldn't have come to Fang Heng for help.
Fang Heng sneered in his heart.
Interestingly, the Leaf tribe was playing their tricks again.
No problem, he would play along with them.
With the Wood tribe launching a fierce attack on the Leaf tribe, wasn't this a perfect opportunity for a bit of opportunism?
"Very well, I agree. Let's take a look at your domain," Fang Heng said.
"Thank you. Please follow me."
"No need. We'll take the lead. Meet at the teleportation point."
With that, Fang Heng raised his hand.
"Swoosh, swoosh..."
Almost instantly, the vampires gathered outside the Temple of Incantation transformed into their vampire forms and swiftly flew into the sky toward the teleportation point.
...
Through the teleportation pa.s.sage, Fang Heng and Miles entered the teleportation point outside the Leaf tribe's territory.
"The Wood tribe's various teams have gradually been invading the periphery of the primeval forest. They've come with great force and are extremely aggressive," Miles explained, stealing a glance at Fang Heng, as if trying to read something from his expression.
"Fang Heng, did you discover anything when you entered the Wood tribe's territory earlier?"
"Nothing," Fang Heng replied flatly, shrugging his shoulders, though inside he couldn't help but suppress a smile.
Haha!
He certainly knew why the Wood tribe had suddenly become so aggressive.
He had managed to accidentally blow up the sacred tree they had painstakingly cultivated.
Who wouldn't be upset?
They needed an outlet to vent their frustration, right?
Unfortunately, the Leaf tribe had become their target for venting.
Miles couldn't read anything from Fang Heng's face, so he reluctantly unfolded a map he had and said, "Fang Heng, we need your help to control the Lickers and defend this key position against the Wood tribe's attack."
"So you mean I just need to hold this position?"
"Yes, exactly. This strategic point is crucial and will surely be a primary target for the Wood tribe. Holding it will give us a significant advantage."
"Understood." Fang Heng glanced at the map and nodded. "No problem, I'll help defend that area for you."
"Thank you. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave."
Miles cupped his fists and left in a hurry.
Fang Heng looked at Miles' back and wanted to laugh.
Upon learning that the Wood tribe was mobilizing its entire force to attack, the Leaf tribe grew anxious. They even considered leveraging Fang Heng's strength to resist a portion of the Wood tribe's forces.
However, despite this, the Leaf tribe remained extremely cautious of themselves. They had never intended to let Fang Heng enter their habitat; rather, they hoped to use him to deplete the Wood tribe's strength outside.
They essentially treated him as expendable.
Their calculations were quite obvious.
But it didn't matter.
After all, he wasn't genuinely willing to help.
Just as he thought this, a game hint appeared on his retina.
[Hint: The current player mission "Negotiating with the Leaf tribe" triggers subsequent missions.]
Mission name: Resisting the invasion of the Wood tribe.
Mission description: The Wood Tribe has invaded the Leaf tribe's territory on a large scale. The Leaf tribe hopes to borrow your strength to resist the Wood tribe's troops.
Mission requirements: Deplete the Wood tribe's forces until the Wood tribe's attack receded.
Mission reward: Unknown (The previous mission reward will be acc.u.mulated after completing this phase).
Again?
Still playing games, huh?
Seeing the refreshed mission hint, Fang Heng chuckled.
He was now certain that unless the mission explicitly detailed the rewards, the Leaf tribe would likely find various reasons to backtrack or delay providing them.
Once or twice, Fang Heng might feel annoyed, feeling deceived.
But after numerous occurrences, he had grown indifferent.
After all, rewards were something he had to strive for himself.
"Let's go."
A cold glint flashed in Fang Heng's eyes as he hurriedly departed with the vampires.
"Your Majesty."
The Leaf tribe's unreasonable behavior hadn't escaped Carl's notice, and he felt slightly displeased. Walking beside Fang Heng, he asked, "Your Majesty, do we really need to go defend the position and help the Leaf tribe resist the Wood tribe?"
"Why not?" Fang Heng chuckled. "Good people should see things through to the end."
Fang Heng decided it might be best to control a group of Lickers to show themselves to the Wood tribe. This would make the Wood tribe even more convinced that their sacred tree sapling had been destroyed by the Leaf tribe.
With this, the Wood tribe would be more committed to attacking the Leaf tribe when the time came.
...
More than half an hour later, the elite vanguard teams of the Wood tribe split into smaller groups and cautiously entered the periphery of the Leaf tribe's habitat.
Unaccustomed to being idle, the hidden guards of the Leaf tribe launched a direct attack on the invaders.
The battle erupted instantly!
Fang Heng had previously deployed a wave of Lickers strategically positioned at the location chosen by Miles.
True to the Leaf tribe's expectations, this defensive position had geographical advantages and became one of the primary targets for the Wood tribe's attacks.
Upon encountering the Lickers bursting forth from the tree spirits once again, the Wood tribe's attack squads were immediately filled with rage.
Just as expected!
The Lickers that attacked the campsite earlier were related to the Leaf tribe!
However, this small team of Wood Tribe members was unable to do anything to the Lickers who had the geographical advantage. The team was forced to delay their attack and was stopped at the foot of the hill.
