Theseversatilearrangementswereeasilyachievedbymanycleverly-designedswingingpart.i.tions,allofthemofwood,coveredwithsoftpadding,toavoidinjuriesandbruising.Weloadedthehorsesandboltedthestallsasneededaroundthem.

Thefloorsofthestallswereofthickblackrubbertostopthehorsesslidingabout,andsometimeswesprinkledthesurfacewithshavingstocatchthedroppings,especiallyonlongjourneys.Ateachdestination,theattendantsorthedriverwouldsweepthestallscleanofthemuck:thenine-horseboxhadthereforearrivedhomereasonablyclea.n.a.lready,havingcomebackemptyfromNewmarket.
