however it was just her own wishful thinking, Nora wouldn't be able to come back, as dead people weren't allowed inside the Gantz room.
yet she waited even though she herself had witnessed with both eyes how her relative's body was smashed on the hard ground again and again and again, she just couldn't accept the idea that Nora was already dead.
'she's still alive' kurono was actually surprised, he didn't think Jessica would be the one to survive at the end.
'i almost died myself' he had a gloomy look on his face yet deep down he was actually overjoyed, after battling and killing tons of aliens the points he ama.s.sed would surely help him surpa.s.s the one hundred mark and maybe even more.
fighting aliens he gained points, yet he didn't intend for the others to die. he did use them to escape, he wasn't used to it, even had a guilty conscience once, however, for now, the only thing he thought about was an extra powerful weapon.
and Gantz would gladly grant him what he wished for as long as he kept acc.u.mulating points.
two people in the room on deep thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the middle-sized black ball, indicating the start of the next phase, the number of the remaining survivors were two.
''no this can't be happening...." Jessica fell down on her knees as she kept muttering to herself, as for kurono he kept his gaze fixed on the black ball as a small green text slowly appeared on the screen.
samurai
151 points
-buy a random weapon
-revive a person from the memory
-gain your freedom
a thin smile crept on his face as he watched Gantz displaying the three available options.
back in the days when earth had yet to be invaded, kurono and his friends nearly all the time chose the second and third options.
'We were so stupid back then....' thought kurono
but they really couldn't be blamed, no one would choose a weapon over one's own life, they didn't know anything back then.
'we never knew about it until it was too late....'
there were certain to be people on earth who did choose the weapons but they were the really odd ones, most of them were crazy the rest were just freaks.
'Now that I think about it Gantz never tried to warn us'
though Gantz didn't lie about anything and would certainly answer everything it did know, it never told the humans about the disaster that was going to happen, something so important was left unsaid.
'it was hiding it on purpose...'
'but.....the alien G.o.ds were the ones who gave us Gantz in the first place, they had no reason to hide anything....'
the alien G.o.ds were the most powerful existence kurono had ever seen, with the ability to kill and recreate people again they were invincible, certainly, the name alien G.o.d was fitting for them.
'they had a roundabout way of doing things....'
if they directly helped, or just announced the situation clearly, everything would've been different.
though he kept pondering but deep inside he already knew the answer, after the alien G.o.ds gave profound technologies to the humans they disappeared, neither the invasion nor the technology was known for the rest of the world, only certain humans knew, they had much influence and they used the tech for their own benefits creating Gantz, and before realizing it they were already attacked.
he wondered whether the alien G.o.ds wanted them dead, but why didn't they do it themselves, why they put the ally facade and pretended to help, weren't they G.o.ds? weren't they omnipotent?
"they're not G.o.ds, not even close" a disturbing deep voice seemed to be talking directly inside his head, the voice was creepy but had a devilish charm to it, kurono was startled as he searched for the sound' owner.
"kid, listen to me and do not buy anything from Gantz, just leave for today" the creepy sound of the devil spoke again.
"where are you? show yourself" after the disaster kurono was agitated every time he felt anything wasn't on his control, and so he shouted.
however, the only ones in the room were him and Jessica who had a dazed look on her face the moment they came.
he didn't know who said those words, but he was sure it wasn't his imagination, nor was it Gantz, after all, why would it advise him not to buy.
'Should I buy or not?' even though he had a cautious mind, he didn't hesitate a lot and opted for the first option.
"buy a random weapon" he spoke lightly.
just when he finished his sentence a black greenish light slowly materialized a pair of black shoes, they looked bigger, more graceful, and faster than his old ones.
he received his hard-earned prize gratefully as he attempted to leave.
"you chose a weapon?! why?!!" Jessica exclaimed, she stood between him and the door still tearful but angry.
"It gave me options" he said.
"a dark-hearted man like you, I thought you would choose to be free..." she clenched her fist before saying "if you don't treasure your life you could've at least revive nora." her body kept trembling.
kurono sighed in his head, then again if he really thought about it he was at fault for telling them nothing, if he told them about the invasion in the first place they wouldn't have bothered him as much.
just when he was pondering how to explain himself, the Gantz screen faded slowly as Jessica's turn arrived.
b.o.o.bs
45 points
only 55 more to go
they both looked on the screen as a new hope emerged on Jessica's heart.
'good amount, I should explain that later...'
"hehe, and why owe me?you're fully capable of reviving her yourself" he explained leaving the dazed woman as he left, he was so much eager to try the new weapon so as to get used to them.
the dark night was so bright with little stars to illuminate it, the lights of the city made it hard for the people walking to see them, and in the middle of this city a man invisible to the eye was gliding through the air as he jumped from one building to the other.
the man's suit was pitch black, but the weirdest thing about him was his pair of greenish-black shoes. whenever they made contact with a solid surface his knees curves and hot steam escapes the four holes on each footwear as he flies like a meteor through the air reaching heights he never knew possible.
if before he could jump higher than a giant, now he exceeded that by more than two times, furthermore, he became twice as fast on the ground, and more speed meant more explosive power.
that man was kurono, the new addition to the suit made him ecstatic, but his mouth kept on twitching as the devilish voice in his head returned once again.
"ah kid, what a waste of points." it repeatedly sighed
landing on a tall building, he slid on the ground before stopping.
"Who are you?" he spoke gently searching his vicinity.
"where are you looking, I'm on your wrist" kurono hurriedly examined his arm yet he found nothing, but his eyes blinked as the black bracelet he forgot about gradually came off his hand and started to deform on the creepiest ways, the black bracelet turned into a black substance and moved like dough as it gained legs then arms, a head, eyes, ears, and mouth
kurono could swear he never saw anything uglier or scarier than this devil, though the devil looked much terrifying, kurono was not the least scared, not because he was much brave or because he got used to it, but simply because the devil itself was half his foot.
"so tiny" he frowned.
