We approached the walls entrance and stopped. Instantly, two Chinese young men in Armour and spears talked with the most ancient Chinese language, "No cultivators are allowed in 'Kansu', unless they have a very important matter."
A couple of mortals approached and walked through the two young men. I recognized this immediately. I remembered that the ancient Song dynasty used to use this trick in order to frighten their enemies, but of course, with a large number of troops.
" What the h.e.l.l are they?" asked Tulip.
"These are holograms of two guards in the emperor's palace. If anything happens, they'll appear here in the blink of an eye." I said then turned to the projections, "We have an important message for Emperor Sun Wu. Please inform him that we are from the Mansion of Night".
The two guards disappeared and many ancient chinese lines appeared on a nearby board. The first one was of only one symbol "宋" which meant 'Sòng' in English, it was the symbol of the most ancient empire here in Gansu, 'The Song Dynasty'.
I read the names of the later empires till I reached for the present one, '甘肅', 'The Gansu Dynasty'.
We rode our horses for a weak till we reached a small unremarkable village. We entered to the only inn in the village. We got a few strange looks from people, I guess they didn't usually have outsider visitors. The manager of the inn showed us a few rooms before I said to him in traditional chinese, "Guardian of the door of East, we are cultivators just like you. Take us to your portal."
The man looked confused for a while then nodded. He took us to a door marked with english 'No one is allowed to enter!' and opened it. It showed nothing but darkness. He stepped to it and disappeared. We hesitated a little and Tulip said," Are you sure about this?".
"We have come all this way not to be stopped here", I answered calmly and stepped into the darkness and behind me Tulip.
When we entered the void, we saw the other side of the place. Tall pointy mountains were seen in the horizon. The great wall of China can also be seen, bit it seemed like it was rebuilt. The area seemed larger than the previous one. I guess there was some sort of expanding magic on this place. I turned and saw the man that led us here was now wearing a long purple robe covered with dragon drawings.
He cupped his hands at us and said in english, " Greetings fellow doists, welcome to Gansu, the dynasty of Emperor Sun. May I ask what had brought you here to our paradise?"
"Greetings to you guardian. We have come here to deliver a message to the Emperor from a very important person. Can you lead us there?" I asked.
He nodded. We walked through the magnificent Gansu dynasty. We didn't encounter any thief, it was well organized here, not like India.
" This place is magnificent", exclaimed Tulip.
"This is one of the most ancient places in China, it was even ruled before Egypt came to be", said the guardian.
"That long?"
"Yes, my lady. The great Emperor Song found this place and brought a batch of cultivators to set great cities here. But unfortunately, the dynasties became weaker and weaker until our esteemed Emperor Sun came."
"How long did the Emperor reigned in this land?" I asked.
"It has been 5 chaos cycles since Emperor Sun started to rule this place."
I nodded. We continued our journey in silent until we saw a big chinese palace at the top of a mountain. We stopped at the beginning of this mountain and the guardian said, "You shall continue to the sect alone. I can lead you no more from here."
"You have done to us great things, fellow doist. We thank very much", said Tulip. I nodded. We bid the guardian farewell and began to climb the steps.
It took us two days to reach the top. The palace was right in front of us, big, red, and well, Chinese. We walked toward the entrance where we were stopped by the two same guards that stopped us on the entrance of the wall. They told us to follow them inside. We entered a broad plain and in the middle was wrought the 'immortal' sign in traditional chinese, '仙'.
We entered to a great hall where no one was present. After a while, a middle-aged man walked and sat on the throne, two guards stood beside him followed by another man.
Tulip bowed a complete one while I only bowed my head and crossed my hands at the chest.
We said together, "Emperor Sun".
The middle-aged man, Emperor Sun, nodded and said in a deep voice in english , "Greetings, my guests. My guards told me that you have a message for me."
"We indeed have, sir", I took the letter from my enchanted bag, handed it to theEmperor, "It is from the lord of chaos."
He frowned and unsealed the letter. He read it for a while and then sat silent. Neither of us talked. Finally he said cutting the silence, "This is indeed a letter from the lord. However, what bothers me is that how can I be sure that you are the right messengers?"
"Knowing from what you said, sir", said Tulip, "you sure have met Master before". He nodded.
"Emperor", I said, "you have all the rights to be suspicious of us. Neither my obvious resemblance of the lord nor our presence here can be a proof . But I don't think you'll doubt these". I took off my upper robe-armor, revealing my marks.
He just sat there with his mouth wide open, disbelief filled his eyes. He said, "I am sorry I doubted you", he bowed his head and said, "you are sure tired of the travel. Please rest here for the night at my palace and come to see me tomorrow morning. Take good care of them." He addressed his Seconde and left the hall while smiling.
The man that hadn't talked a word yet gestured for us to follow him. I put on the robe-armor and followed, Tulip beside me.
