Death's Scythe Chapter 43: Unnamed

Leo woke up with a gasp and looked around , but found nothing out of the norm . He was in the same room he had slept last night , with Leah sleeping on a bed a bit of a distance from his own . There was a night stand between the beds , and in once corner of the room was a gate leading to the bathroom , and in the middle of the adjacent wall was a window . In front of the set of beds was a dining table with 4 chairs on each side .

' Everything's the same .' He thought to himself as he looked at his own body for any peculiarities .

He saw the alert and just nodded .

' What was that d.a.m.ned dream . The mountain ... it was on Iroas , I've seen it before .' He thought to himself as his clothes shined a little before going back to how they were before he even ever wore them . ' These enchants are quite helpful .' He thought as he looked at his sleeping sister .

' That was definitely this planet . Those people , emissaries of ... some G.o.d , they want to destroy this planet . ' As he thought till here his gaze turned cold as he looked out the window . ' Why did I even have that dream ... To prepare myself ? Can't be ... '

He remembered them referring to him and his sister as dragon and pixie . He had seen it in the mirror of truth , him as a dragon and Leah as a pixie .

' Me , a sacrifice ? Hmph .' He snorted at the very thought of someone trying to catch him to sacrifice for a G.o.d . ' I'd rather die than be someone else's p.a.w.n . Though this dragon G.o.d seems chill .' He thought as he chuckled lightly .

' What should I do ? I saw many monsters from the western fantasy I know in that dream . If what I have seen till now is anything to go by , they were all boss level monsters . ' He had seen goblins , liches , and what in the h.e.l.l not in that dream . If Iroas was about to be overrun with high level monsters , he needed to stay as far away from it as possible .

" I need to discuss our next actions ." He spoke as he looked out the window sitting down after placing a chair next to it .

" Discuss what , brother ?" He heard Leah's voice behind him so he turned around with a smile and said " Good morning ."

Leah nodded as she sat on the bed and asked once more " Discuss what , brother ?"

Leo hesitated for a brief moment before he nodded and said " We need to go . East is too dangerous , West is too boring and North , well , we will be targets for being hunted the moment we leave ."

Leo looked at him with widened eyes before she sighed and looked straight at him " Why don't we go south ?"

Leah understood he was talking about the continents . The Easter continent had the Grimm empire , and they were already having trouble dealing with just one of their brothers . The western continent was where the factories and production companies were located , thus , boring . The king of the dungeon country was still the real power in the country and his very existence meant he won't allow anyone to defy him . Leaving after creating trouble her won't allow for safe livelihood anywhere .

The south , however , was another story . That continent was infested with monsters . There were no areas separating monsters into tiers . A monster could be anything from basic low to even supreme tier . The hero a.s.sociation sent 5 supreme tier heroes from each guild there for annual payments every year . The monsters there were much more important than the ones in the Dungeons , because they had actual cores that could be harvested . In dungeons , these cores would be absorbed back into the dungeon to balance it's energy resources .

" Too much of a risk . I can't bear the thought that we'd be eaten by some supreme tier monster the moment we step on the continent ." Leo said as he shook his head .

Leah stood up and walked towards the washroom as she spoke in a low voice , but loud enough for him to hear " Supreme tier monsters are sentient and territorial ."

Leo sighed and looked back outside as he slouched on the chair and shouted " Of course they are . Why won't they be ?"

Leah giggled as she closed the door and Leo just looked outside to where Gerald should be . ' The southern continue to has too many mercenaries . They won't hesitate to kill us if we have a bounty on our heads . ' Leo thought to himself .

He looked back towards the bathroom for just a moment before shaking his head ' It'll be the best place to temper me . I think I can kill humans , but even if I hide it , I always knew they weren't real people . There was blood , yes , but it wasn't the same as killing real humans . I even had some inhibitions even when killing monsters , there are none anymore , but it is better to be in a killed or be killed atmosphere for me .'

He walked over to his bed and laid back down . He held his face in his hands as he thought about the future ' What about her ? Is it necessary to bring her with me ? Do I just run off ?' He shook his head as soon as this thought crossed his mind ' I can't . Gerald won't just let us leave . After going to this dungeon , I am stronger than her too . We can't be alone , unless we reach supreme tier . '

He knew how hard this requirement was . To reach supreme tier , all gifts needed to be at tier 1 , or static . This was the toughest divide . For gifts like his own , There were certain requirements that needed to be fulfilled for increasing the tier . He didn't know what they were , because his gift was not recorded in any of the books he had read to date .

' Even if I read one , my path would have already deviated from that person's .' All gifts deviate , because every factor determine the path they take .

If 2 people had the same gift and one of them made a single different choice in the same circ.u.mstances , the gifts would deviate . Personality , choices , preferences , everything paved the path for a gift's development .

' I chose to go all out on all attributes , so my gift is developing in all aspects . If I would've chosen attack , it would have developed more towards increasing my attack power .' He thought as he looked at the alert in front of his eyes .
