Death's Scythe Chapter 22: [ Mirror Of Souls ]

Leo stared at a shiny object in the middle of the room that clearly did not exist there just a few seconds ago .

Leah stood next to him and followed his gaze then giggled and said " That is the loot . Usually , when the monster has nothing on it's body , a random piece of loot appears in the middle of the dungeon room ."

Leo nodded his head and walked to towards the shiny object . He bended down and reached for it in a stiff manner , as if he was still waiting for a trap ' Appearing in the exact middle . Someone planned it or it would've been impossible . I know that G.o.ds exist , so , for all I know , an enemy of that stupid dragon G.o.d could have rigged it .'

As he was about to pick up what seemed to be a mirror he heard the cat say in his head ' Master even insults the G.o.d he is supposed to serve . He is so brave .'

Leo just shook his head as he laughed in self-ridicule and picked up the mirror . ' What's this ?' He thought to himself .

[ The reflection in this mirror sows the true form of the one in front of it ]

' That's it ?' He was confused . He was happy at first because he thought the system was giving him the description of the item , but as it turns out , the information he got was incomplete .

He looked into the mirror , to see what his true form looked like .

" What is that mirror ?" Leah said as she peeked from over his shoulder .

Leo was surprised by what he saw . Leah giggled " What is that ? Why are the reflections so cute ?"

Leo also sighed as he put the mirror away .

" It's our true forms . The mirror shows the true form of anything in front of it , from what I understand . "

" Why are you a baby dragon then ?" She asked with a serious expression .

" My gift's name is Dragon . It is in its initial stages . Anything else ?" He said as he started walking towards the stairs going down .

" Yes ." Leah said and waited for leo to stop , then she said " I understand why it is black , but why does it hold a scythe around it's neck ? Why does it even have a Scythe ?"

Leo turned his head to look at her and sighed " You do realize we are being trailed , right ? Keep some things for when we are alone too ."

Leah looked towards the ground as she nodded and walked up to him and said " You promised you will carry me back . I want to sleep . Carry me ."

" From here ?" He asked . Seeing Leah nod he sighed as he thought to himself ' Would I start releasing breaths if I sigh so much ?"

He carried her in a bridal carry and opened his wings . Fortunately , the height between the floor and the roof was 10 meters at all time . He flew through each of the floors and soon reached outside the dungeon .

The same man that had been trailing them till now , once more appeared in the boss room of the dungeon . He looked towards the stairs and shook his head .

" The targets have received an object called mirror of souls . It's functions are to show the true inner self of a person from what I heard . The male target is a baby dragon , whereas the female is a pixie . The male target has revealed his gift's name to be 'Dragon' . Still no information on the female target's gift ."

He then looked towards the corpse of the treant and laughed as he said " The male target has reached Middle-Intermediate tier and can kill monsters at upper-intermediate tier , with no injuries , if he receives minor a.s.sistance ."

He stopped for a while , then said " The targets do not trust the a.s.sociation . They have not revealed their real gifts to the a.s.sociation . Him revealing his gift even though he knew of my presence might mean he trusts us enough not to disclose such matters . "

He stopped and waited for an answer , which he soon received through the device in his ear " The targets have entered the city . The male target directly carried the female target to the hotel room . You can return to your post and there is no need for further investigation ."

The man nodded as he once again turned invisible , but one thought still lingered in his mind ' The gift is in its initial stages . He may very well become a supreme tier in the near future with his rate of growth and strength at his gift's initial stage .'

The evolving type gifts had 4 stages : initial (10-8) , middle (7-5) , mastered (4-2) , complete (1) .

Some gifts had a different system , but none had more than 4 tiers in a single stage .

' We need to pull him to our side .' He thought as he ran down the stairs of the dungeon .

In the final floor , or rather , room of the dungeon , where a single corpse of a treant was left , there was nothing but silence .

This silence , which continued a few minutes , was finally disturbed , when a little further than the middle , the air got torn into 2 .

The s.p.a.ce in the room got torn and 2 hands came out of that crack and increased it in size . When the size reached big enough to let 2 humans pa.s.s at once , a man slowly walked out of the crack in s.p.a.ce .

He looked towards the stairs and smiled " Those ants finally left this dungeon in peace ."

He took out something like a small pen and pierced it in the middle of the room . and said to himself " The end of this world is near . Master is about to be reborn . Everyone needs to to sacrifice to this n.o.ble cause ."

He then laughed like a maniac as he looked down the stairs " Whether you be the heir of a Dragon G.o.d , or of a G.o.ddess , you will all be a sacrifice to my master's resurrection ."

He walked towards the crack as he laughed " Finding two heirs as soon as I reach a low level world , my master must be fated to be the strongest . Once the resurrection is complete , he will kill all of those G.o.ds and reign supreme "

He walked through the crack and the crack slowly vanished , till there was nothing , but silence in the room once more.
