I sat there, watching all the pack members enjoy their day as the children run around and play with each other. Xenon's weight beside me pressed into my side while she slept soundly and held onto me tightly.
It felt wonderful to have her near me once again.
It took a long time to draw her out of her hiding place.
I was a little surprised when she didn't come out of it when I faked my engagement, curious if that drew her out. Though it didn't which made me think I would never see her again, Ajax has been pushing her for the last few months for me.
And here she is.
His plans worked in the end.
She came out.
"Ah, there you are. I see that our plan is working so far." Ajax nods to Xenon who was still pa.s.sed out while I smiled and nodded.
"I was starting to doubt you, man. Thanks for this. Even if she doesn't want anything to do with me, this is enough for me." I thank him, holding her close to my body as he chuckles at me and stuffed his hands into his pockets.
"Trust me. If you're patient with her, she'll go back to you without a doubt." Ajax a.s.sures me, patting my shoulder before walking off towards his pregnant mate and little girl.
I couldn't help but thank my best friend for helping me.
He was my inside guy as well as Alex, they were the perfect inside people.
Now I've got my mate with me once again and I have to keep a close eye on her if I want to be with her.

That man she was with last night said something about her home and that he needed her help with the job. Something about the man made me cautious which was the reason I followed and stayed with her during her whole trial.
If I didn't she could have been hurt by those a.s.sa.s.sins, though I could tell she was holding her anger back which told me several things about her.
One.
She's had some pent-up anger directed towards the people who sent her to the league and she wants revenge.
Two.
From how she's been handling herself, she is trying to control the anger and place it in something she does best. Kill.
Three.
She's ashamed to kill in front of anyone other than Ajax. He's told me that she would only knock the person out and not kill them. But back in the day, she would murder people like no tomorrow.
I sighed, trying to figure her out as Xenon shifted her hood to hide from the sun that was peaking through the tree above us.
Carefully, I hooked my arms underneath her and picked her up off the ground. I took small steps to avoid waking her up when motioning Ajax to open the door for me.
"There you go, buddy." He held the door open for me as I thanked him silently and slipped into the pack house. Several pack members noticed me and waved happily over at me.
"Is that-"
"It is." An older woman a.s.sures her daughter, her gentle smile warming my heart a little bit. "It's the Alpha and Luna dear." She tells her when the daughter nods in understanding a flashed me a smile.
"About time. Hey! "
"Hush girl. Luna is asleep." The older woman scolds her as she shut her mouth and gave me an apologetic smile.
"Sorry Alpha." She apologizes when I smiled and left the pair to talk or gossip about pack affairs. I slipped up the stairs, hoping to avoid my parents since they hated Xenon's guts for some reason.
Probably because of the accident a years ago. That night is still very blurry and confusing to me and no one ever explained what had happened.
I know that Xenon was going to kill Terra and I was trying to stop her but I was too late. Alex and I were fighting some vampires when the room that Xenon disappeared started to go up in flames.
Without thinking, I rushed into the room to find that Terra was the cause of the fire, clearly dead as another woman was slumped against the wall. Xenon wasn't there which caused everything inside of me to hurt even worse.
That pain was the worst thing in my entire life, I felt so helpless to it that I tried my d.a.m.n hardest to get the woman slumped against the wall to tell me what had happened.
At the time I didn't realize she was dead but all I cared about was finding Xenon and knowing if she was alright or not.
I also didn't realize that the smoke around me was suffocating me, slowing all my movements til I was on the ground coughing for air. The memory of my eyes seeing Faye before I pa.s.sed out would always confuse me and how I got out of there was still a mystery to me.
Alex knew exactly what happened and told me Faye was never there. Though that night always haunted her and she never told me what exactly went down that night, even when I woke up to find Xenon in the hallway of the pack hospital.
She was still so fearful about what had happened.
My parents knew something they weren't telling me, but they refused to even speak of the night. Not to mention the fact that anything having to do with Xenon made their ears bleed.
Even though I wanted to know what happened, I didn't want to scare Faye off again. I didn't want my parents to scare her off either.
They had no say in who I saw or who I was involved with.
Xenon is after all my mate.
Leaving my thoughts, I kicked the door open with my foot and entered my room. The room I always remembered to be a dull place suddenly felt content and breezy with her in it.
Trying my hardest not to wake her, I pulled the blanket back and laid her down. A sliver of her red hair peeking out of her hood almost making me want to see what her face looked like.
I wasn't sure why I haven't taken advantage of this situation to figure out who her real ident.i.ty was.
She was my mate and she would eventually get over it.
But...
She specifically stressed out about not seeing her true ident.i.ty.
Told me that I had to figure out who she was myself.
I felt like if I pulled that hood off her face that I betrayed her trust and would never see her again, even though she made that deal years ago.
Xenon groaned, shifting away from me and pressing her face into the pillows when I sighed and tugged the covers of the blanket around her.
One day, Xenon.
I will find out who you are.
And I'll love you either way.
I will be the one who will love you.

I hummed, stretching my tired arms above me and arching my back to try and pop the bones. The soft material feeling nicer than normal when I slowly opened my eyes to stare up at a white wall.
I don't remember...
I lunged out of the bed and sparked a flame in my hand, searching for where I was when I noticed a note on the bed where I was sleeping. My heart was thudding so fast that it felt like it was going to explode.
"Where the h.e.l.l...?" I held onto my chest, trying to remember what had happened this morning but all I saw was a blank slate. Slowly, I crept over to the note and made sure none of this was a trap of some sort.
My paranoia was out of control as I s.n.a.t.c.hed the note from the bed and slowly unfolded it, seeing the sloppy but readable handwriting.
You fell asleep earlier and brought you to my room to get some uninterrupted sleep. Also, there is a towel and some soap in the restroom for you to clean up or take a shower. Try not to get so drunk again, alright? I don't like seeing that side of you.
Sincerely, Zavier.
Did I fall asleep?
I don't even remember that.
I reread the note, surprised by my actions and his words as I heard the door slowly open making me drop to the ground.
"Oh. I thought I heard Zavier come in here. Should we wait in here?" The old voice I remember from two years ago made my stomach churn while they walked over to the bed. I slipped underneath the bed and help my mouth closed hoping that my scent wasn't still lingering around the room.
"He wouldn't mind. He told us that he was coming back here anyway. We should ask him about his engagement." Zavier's father notes making me clench my hands tightly.
It's as if he knew I was in here or something.
"That's true. The boy hasn't even introduced us to the lucky girl. I hope she's better than that on-"
"What are you both doing in here?" Zavier snarls loudly, his eyes looking around when catching sight of me under the bed. "Leave. Now." He told his parents surprising the three of us.
"Excuse me? Who do you th-"
"I told you that my room is off limits. Now out." He came towards the bed, all I could see was their feet while I rolled out from under the bed. Wanting to watch what was happening.
"Hey stop! Wh"
"I don't want you both in here." He says, pulling his mother off the bed and urging his father out of the room.
"Why not?! Zavier what's your pr-"
"I'm his problem." I blurted out, almost regretting it after saying it but I couldn't help myself. It was just to perfect.
His parents snapped their eyes at me before his father narrowed his eyes at me, trying to come over to me but Zavier stopped him. I smiled sweetly at his mother, seeing the disgust in her features.
"I know. Just magnificent." I sigh, skipping over to them knowing it would infuriate them more. "I missed you too mom!" I poked her nose earning two dark growls. Zavier seemed amused at my attempts to be sweet, knowing it was all an illusion.
This was just to fun.
"I've gotta go, babe." I winked at Zavier's father, leaning up and kissing Zavier's cheek before his father lunged towards me. "Bye." Zavier's father tried grabbing ahold of me while I hurried down the hallway and down the stair rail.
"Get back here you, killer!" His father roars when I jumped off the railing and looked up at him.
"Gotta catch me, old man." I stuck my tongue out like a child making him rush downstairs. I laughed out loud, loving that he thought that he could keep up with me while I opened the back door and closed it behind me. "Qui oderunt me: custodi ea in medio," I whisper, a shield going around the door and preventing those who hate me from leaving the house.
"You mother-"
"Ah ah! There are children. I'll be out here if you like to watch me train!" I told him through the door, feeling him hit against the barrier.
A chuckle left my lips while I walked away from the door and looked up at the sun, enjoying the warm rays.
