Power To Resist 11 Chapter 11:

"What do you mean? Ajax wanted to come to his sister's home and visit her. I only wanted to accompany him." Alexandra says, the truth twisted into the lie as I shifted where I was lying down and stared at the door as if it was about to open.

"Is Faye home? I want to see her." The person says while I concentrated on the voice and slowly sat up in my bed.

"Actually she left on a family trip. She didn't tell either of us she was leaving but left a note in case her brother came home. It said she would be back in a week after she sorted some stuff out." Alexandra told them, the lie interlocking with the truth as I sighed and stood up to grab a shirt.

"Oh... Well, tell me when she comes back. I'd like to talk to her." The voice sounded like it was a male, immediately making me realize that it was Zavier.

"I will. I'll let you know if Xenon comes by or anything." She told him when I slipped my shirt on and ma.s.sage my shoulder blades.

"Alright... See you later, Alex," Zavier said before the door closed and his footsteps receded off the porch.

I left my room and noticed that Ajax was in the restroom drying his hair. He glanced over at me with a small smile, clearly hearing the same thing as I did.

"Good morning. You feeling better?" He asks me when I yawned and shrugged slightly.

"Not really but that's to be expected. Still exhausted and weak." I rubbed my eyes, my back still burning with pain and soreness.

"I'm sorry... For causing this." He mumbles, looking guilty still as I chuckled and waved his apology away.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. It's not like you harmed me." I a.s.sure him and started to walk away but I stopped to tell him my plans for the day. "I am tapping into your mate's hidden power. You may want to talk to her if you want to convince her otherwise. I know that doing this will tire me out physically but I know that it can harm the person whose power is tapped into." I said, remembering how pale he was when I had woken up from my coma.

He stared at me, not sure what to think of the situation while he sighed and hung the towel up on one of the racks.

"I'll speak with her. Which explains why she was so excited last night... Tapping into my powers when we were younger. It was very... painful in a way. I felt like my body was going through the wolf shift for the first time again. Only it was more of a longer period of time that never showed any change. It took me a day or two to recover from the majority of the pain." He says seriously, thinking for a moment before looking back at me. "Don't worry. I'll talk to her about everything and let you know if she wants to continue with the plan." Ajax nods with a strange expression.

"Alright. I'm going to grab something to eat then go do some paperwork dealing with our job. I have to decide whether to continue without you or not. See you later." I wave my goodbye, walking towards the stairs.

I still wasn't sure what I was going to do about our mission.

We've been here for nearly two weeks and we haven't gotten anything done concerning our mission.

At first, I was going to make a video and send it to my employer that I murdered Zavier. It would have been super easy as well.

I already attracted him and I had him wrapped around my finger. He practically followed me around everywhere I went and I knew he felt the same way since he had shown me that he was into me.

I could easily just lure him here and drug him before killing him.

But...

I just couldn't bring myself to kill him.

Whether it was because he was naive or brilliant. I couldn't harm him only cause he actually cared for Faye and Xenon. I'm pretty sure that he had no idea that we were the same person though I knew that if Faye and Xenon got to close to him.

He'd definitely connect the points.

I knew he wasn't stupid, but my acting is fairly on point and normal people wouldn't be able to put two and two together.

If anyone knew that I was having second doubts about killing Zavier only cause he didn't see me as a killer. Even Ajax saw me as a killer at times yet Zavier just sees me as a person and it causes my chest to feel all weird.

Not that I like him in any way, just that I've never been treated as a person and he's the first to see me as one. And I'm not sure how to handle that.

"Good morning Faye. Is Ajax still upstairs?" Alexandra questions when I blinked out of my thoughts and nodded.

"Yeah. He wanted to talk to you about some stuff also. I'll just be down here." I told her as she patted my arm and rushed upstairs to where Ajax was. A sigh left my lips while I walked back downstairs and went into the kitchen that felt very empty right at the moment.

For some reason...

I wished that Zavier would bring some more takeout.

My phone buzzed as I looked through my files of paperwork making me sigh and slip off my gla.s.ses and grab my phone. The small message was from Zavier asking me if I could meet up with him for some things to discuss.

I wasn't particularly sure why but it would totally help me get out of the house I've been trapped in all day. Plus it would put my mind at ease knowing that Alexandra was going through her transformation.

Yeah, she agreed to get her powers tapped in even knowing the pain she would go through.

Ajax was angry that she still agreed to go through it all but most of all mad at me since I knew he didn't want me to go through with the plan. Not like I cared, if she truly wanted to have some powers then that's her decision to make.

Quickly, I sent him a text that I was available before stuffing the papers back into my desk and locking it so no one can go through my things. Even when Ajax was apart of the team, he never knew anything about our missions.

Only the target and his part in the mission.

I pretty much did everything else down to the background checks and family backgrounds so I can get an idea of how to get close to our victims.

It was a clever idea on my part, but it could also cause a lot of issues since it would mean I am a bigger target to others. Though I always faked my death to several people before leaving the mission and the dead body.

Brushing my thoughts away, I snapped my finger and changed into my outfit while going down into my bas.e.m.e.nt to grab some of my knives and guns.

You can never be too prepared.

As I put some knives in my boot, Ajax came down in the bas.e.m.e.nt and stared at me. The flare of anger still in his eyes when I c.o.c.ked my eyebrow up at him.

"What," I demand more than question and checking the pistol in my hands to make it worked before slipping it in the thigh strap I had on.

"Where do you think you are going? You aren't leaving right now. What if we need you?" He fired questions while I turned towards him and walked over to him.

"Then call me, it's that simple," I said as if he was the dumbest person in the world and turned away from him.

"You can't leave right now!" He yells at me making me turn back towards him and glare at him dangerously.

"Excuse me...?" I say, shocked by the volume and fury in his voice.

"You did this to her and now you have to stay here and watch if she will wake up!" He barks at me, his claws coming out when I reached behind me to grab a knife.

"I didn't do s.h.i.t to her! She wanted this and you f.u.c.king know it!" I shout the action causing me to flinch from the pain in my back.

"No. You knew d.a.m.n well what would happen if you did this and yet you allowed it!" Ajax's eyes started to shift into a midnight black as I glared at him dangerously.

"It was her decision! What?! Are you going to start controlling her or something?! I'm not dealing with this right now! I'm leaving whether you like it or not!" I said, snapping my finger before he could attack me though he had other plans.

We both teleported to where Zavier was waiting for me. Ajax was on top of me when I launched him off me with my legs, my back throbbing with pain.

"Xenon?" Zavier questions in disbelief while Ajax shifted into his wolf and dove for Zavier.

"Zavier! Get out of the way!" I jump off the ground and lunged towards Ajax, taking him down before he could touch Zavier. "Calm down! I didn't-"

Ajax snarled loudly, raking his nails at my arm making me yelp and fall on the ground. I knew that I was still dry of power from earlier and that I was injured so I could protect him from the league.

Yet I was being treated this way.

Maybe...

Being a killer was just the life for me.

"Ajax! Back off!" Zavier got in front of me before Ajax could hurt me again, blocking me from his attacks that were violent towards me. I could see Ajax panting heavily in front of Zavier, his black eyes narrowing on us while I gripped my arm tightly and held it close to my body.

"What else do you want from me Ajax...? I've done everything to protect and make you happy. I can't keep doing this. I'm going to die one day and then you'll regret everything because I'm going to die due to your stupidity and anger." I said in defeat finally revealing some kind of emotion in my voice but not wanting to look up at either of them.

Slowly, I stood up and snapped my finger to change my outfit so both of them could see all my wounds and scars.

"I do everything to make your life as easy as it can be. I get punished, I get tortured, I get my dignity stripped away. I don't know what else you want!" I scream at him, feeling something that I've never felt.

Sadness.

And tears.

I chocked on my emotion, feeling incredibly weak when I changed back into my other outfit to cover my insecurities. It's like no one cared for what would happen to me.

I may be strong, but I'm not invisible.

I may be able to hide my emotions, but I'm not heartless.

I may be a killer, but I'm not a monster.

"What else do you want? I've given you everything. Do you want to take my life as well? Will, that bring you some kind of peace?" I ask him in utter hopelessness while bringing my hand up to wipe my tears. "Can I ever make you happy?" I question, covering my face with my hand and silently crying into it.

The wave of emotion overpowering my movements as I felt my shoulders shake from the pain of being rejected for the last time. I was so over it, I felt like the only way out was to take my own life.

And I've never felt this way about my existence.

Arms wrapped around me while I shoved him away and held my hand out towards him. He didn't get to throw a fit and get away with it, not this time.

"Don't try to make up for your fury. Your anger. I don't want anyth-"

"Xenon. It's just me. It's just me..." Zavier says softly, taking my hand in a comforting way and bringing me into a tight hug that just hurt me even more than the hostility from Ajax.

I gripped his shirt, my arm throbbing from the pain from Ajax's attack when I choked on my tears again and held him close. Hating that I was vulnerable but I truly couldn't help it.

Everything I've ever done was for his safety and this is the way I'm treated...
