Chapter 3359: The Beacon
Master Qing Cao was an enigmatic existence. While he seemed to be the source of all of the Tianyuan Megaverse’s trouble, as well as an invincible powerhouse, he always gave people an enigmatic feeling.
"Do you know about the springboard?" Lu Yin asked.
"Of course. It’s between the three megaverses. Using it allows people to quickly reach the Consciousness Megaverse and your Tianyuan Megaverse," Yuan Qi replied.
"If it’s so easy, why did the Spirit Nidus only send you and Zhan Yan to help Aeternus for so many years? Even if the High Seraph has his own personal motives, he can’t make things overly obvious. If he did, everyone would see through him," Lu Yin questioned.
Yuan Qi thought for a moment. "There are two reasons. First, while using the springboard can let anyone quickly reach any of the three megaverses—shortening the journey to about ten or twenty years and definitely no more than fifty—the distance between each megaverse and the springboard is still vast. Lord Lu, you may have heard of the phrase ‘an inch is like infinity.’ For the people making the journey, it’s like an ordinary person trying to reach stars in another universe. The distance is so vast that many die along the way."
Lu Yin remembered that Tian Ci had mentioned that the Spirit Nidus had developed the ability to build springboards, so Yuan Qi’s first reason could be ignored. Going forward, given the fact that the Spirit Nidus already controlled the springboard, they would undoubtedly build another at the Tianyuan Megaverse.
"The second reason is…" Yuan Qi paused and took a moment to look at Lu Yin. "Lord Lu, if I may ask, what has been your greatest epiphany as a cultivator?"
Lu Yin frowned. "Just get to the point."
Yuan Qi replied, "Caution, vigilance, and danger at every turn—am I wrong?"
Lu Yin did not argue. It had taken the aid of various opportunities, as well as his mirebound artifact, innate gifts, and other help to just barely survive on numerous occasions. There was no question that others had suffered far worse fates.Just surviving was not an easy accomplishment.
Yuan Qi took a deep breath. "That is not something that is only true for cultivators, but is rather a universal rule. Caution and secrecy are of the utmost importance, but the springboard gives away a person's location.
"The fact that there is already one springboard in the omniverse means that there must also be a second and third. One of the fundamental laws of reality is that there are no absolutes, but the distance between megaverses might be a natural absolute. However, wherever there is an absolute, there must also be some way to overcome it, and the springboard is that method.
"If there’s a springboard between our three megaverses, then what about other regions of the omniverse? What else could there be in the unseen vastness? There are likely more, and that begs the question: are there civilizations that are capable of observing or locating springboards? When the springboard was first discovered, everyone in the Spirit Nidus took that possibility as a fact. There must be powerful civilizations throughout the omniverse, and while it’s possible that the Spirit Nidus is already the strongest, it’s also possible that we are only at the starting line. There is too much that we don’t know, and the springboard is like a beacon. Anyone who approaches it risks being discovered by other civilizations.
"Countless eyes might be observing the beacon from the shadows, so even my Spirit Nidus does not dare to use it lightly. Long ago, the High Seraph and the Seven Seraphs established a strict rule that every use of the springboard can only be done after being as cautious as possible, and each usage must first be reported to the supreme being. Even then, the springboard can only be used at the most appropriate opportunities.
"Using the springboard can lead us to find others, or it might lead others to finding us. With so many mysteries and unknowns involved, the risk is absolutely terrifying."
The death energy that surrounded them crept forward, eventually shrouding and surrounding Yuan Qi.
"Lord Lu, I don’t want to be killed by your Tianyuan Megaverse, nor by the Consciousness Megaverse. You must have some of those conscients from the Consciousness Megaverse around you—beware of them. They are not nearly as pure as they appear to be." Yuan Qi’s voice gradually faded away.
Lu Yin left the prison and returned to the mountain behind the Heavens Sect. He sat there in silence for half a day as he considered things.
All three individuals had shared monumental secrets, and they had completely transformed Lu Yin’s understanding. The three megaverses, the springboard, the Minor Spirit Megaverse, and the High Seraph; veils had been lifted from all three things, and Lu Yin was finally able to make a bit more sense of the current situation.
It was possible that all three had still held back some information, but nothing that they had kept hidden could be more challenging than what Lu Yin was already facing. ?ἈɴɵВË?
The High Seraph, who could become an Immortal at any moment, presented an ever-present threat of destruction for the entire Tianyuan Megaverse. No, not for the Tianyuan Megaverse, but rather for Lu Yin and Tai Chu. They were the two individuals with the greatest chance of eventually becoming Immortals, and they had already caught the High Seraph’s eye.
"Dao Monarch, we’re ready," Lu Buzheng’s voice rang out.
Lu Yin stood up. "Let’s begin."
Displays appeared throughout the Origin Universe and countless parallel universes across the megaverse.
This was a familiar scene to many people, and they understood that something significant was taking place at the Heavens Sect yet again.
Countless people turned to look at the displays, all of them awaiting the appearance of one person: Lord Lu. He was the one who would lead all of them to a brighter future. He was the one who was worshiped by countless people.
Figures started to ascend the Stairway to Heaven: the Three Realms and Six Daos, the Three Suns and Six Rulers, and the Outer and Inner Eight Paths. Powerful auras rose up, and excitement stirred in countless people who were watching.
Every time this scene appeared, innumerable people were inspired to cultivate harder than ever.
At this same time, people in the Tower of the Fifth stopped what they were doing to look at the displays. Even the young captives from the Spirit Nidus watched. They might not know what they were about to see, but they did recognize many of the figures standing along the Stairway to Heaven.
They were the powerhouses who had fought against the Spirit Nidus’s invasion.
"Something big is about to happen! It looks like Lord Lu is about to declare war on the Spirit Nidus!" someone excitedly observed. Their comment drew the attention of the people from the Spirit Nidus.
"The last time something like this happened was the martial declaration, right? Lord Lu was so amazing when he declared war on Aeternus, and now, they’re just a thing of the past. Nothing can defeat Lord Lu! These foreign enemies will also be destroyed," another man said as he glanced dismissively at the Spirit Nidus cultivators, raising his fist to taunt them further.
The young girl who had once swung a sword at Lu Yin grew excited. "Brother, I don’t want to embroider! I want to go to the Heavens Sect! I want to be seen on that display!"
"Alright, alright, just be quiet. Look, Lord Lu is coming out."
Countless people’s antic.i.p.ation spiked as Lu Yin stepped to the top of the Stairway to Heaven. He stared out at the stars, his face showing unmatched determination as he looked down on the world below.
As he stepped forward, countless people across the Origin Universe started cheering. In every parallel universe that was watching, excited, eager eyes stared at the displays.
Inside the Tower of the Fifth, the people of the Tianyuan Megaverse felt a surge of excitement.
However, the Spirit Nidus prodigies looked increasingly grim. They had once witnessed this man slaughter some of the most powerful beings from their Spirit Nidus. Palace Master Yao had been captured, Tian Ci had been defeated, and then all of the prodigies had been captured and thrown into the Tower of the Fifth. Despite his youth, Lu Yin’s strength was completely overwhelming.
The Spirit Nidus had come to the Tianyuan Megaverse to crush their enemy and gain honor, and yet, they had been reduced to such a pathetic state.
Everything was because of Lu Yin.
Even if the young elites still believed that their Spirit Nidus was far stronger than the Tianyuan Megaverse and that the Tianyuan Megaverse would eventually be defeated, Lu Yin stood tall like a towering mountain. No matter how talented the young cultivators from the Spirit Nidus might be, none were confident that they could ever surpa.s.s Lu Yin. He was simply too formidable.
He stood at the top of the Stairway to Heaven, the statue of the Origin Progenitor behind him. At his feet was the captive Verdant Sage, while the Pridebeast perched on his shoulder and the Megalith coiled around his waist. His very presence exuded an aura of invincibility.
Few in the entire Tianyuan Megaverse could measure up to Lu Yin.
From the moment he had lost his memories and been thrown to the Fifth Mainland, he had risen up step by step from an ordinary human to his current height. He alone understood the hardships and dangers that he had faced throughout his journey, and he had reached the peak of the megaverse. He stood as the protector of everyone he cared about. All of his struggles had all been worth it.
As he looked out from the Stairway to Heaven, he remembered the familiar faces that were missing.
If he had to do it all again, would he make the same choices?
After a moment of reflection, Lu Yin spoke, "The Spirit Nidus. All of you must have heard of it by now."
The entire megaverse fell silent. Lu Yin’s voice was the only sound that rang out.
"It is a powerful, formidable megaverse. During the battles at the megaverse’s boundary, we lost some of our elders. They will never return from that place. More people will die in the fights to come. War will become the new normal."
Countless people stared at the displays while clenching their fists.
"Honestly, I find it all quite annoying." Lu Yin rubbed his head, looking rather exasperated. "One bunch of fools after another keeps showing up. First, we had Aeternus, then the Nests, and now, the Spirit Nidus. Who knows what sort of mess will appear next? But regardless, it’s no different from eating a meal. Finish one, and there will always be another. While it may be annoying, it’s at least never boring. Am I right?"
The megaverse remained silent for a moment, and then they erupted into thunderous cheers.
The rousing speech that they had all expected had not happened, but Lu Yin’s casual words were somehow even more stirring.
War would become the new normal, and it would be just like eating a meal. It might be annoying, but it would not be monotonous. This was Lu Yin’s perspective of the Spirit Nidus’s invasion, and it would become the Tianyuan Megaverse’s perspective as well.
"One fool after another shows up, seeking death. We fear nothing! Lord Lu is invincible forever!"
"Lord Lu, we can’t wait for our next meal! Let’s finish this one first!"
"Hahaha!"
"Lord Lu is invincible."
"Lord Lu is invincible…"
Inside the Tower of the Fifth, the Spirit Nidus prodigies were all left dumbfounded. They glanced around at the nearby people as though they were fools. What was going on? Had casual words from a single man succeeded in inspiring all these people to the extreme? Had they all been brainwashed?
Only the people of the Tianyuan Megaverse could truly understand the sense of security that they felt from being protected by Lu Yin. If Lu Yin said that they would win, then they would win. If he said the Spirit Nidus was courting death, then the Spirit Nidus was indeed courting death. No one questioned Lu Yin’s words. He had become a symbol of invincibility, as he had already achieved the impossible on multiple occasions.
This confidence came from Lu Yin’s victory over the Aeternals, and it was also closely tied to the power that he cultivated.
Time and time again, he had demonstrated his strength before countless people. He had overcome dire situations and succeeded in protecting everyone. They trusted Lu Yin beyond all measure.
No one from outside of the Tianyuan Megaverse could comprehend this level of trust.
In the Heavens Sect, Lu Yuan sighed in admiration at the heights that Lu Yin had reached. There was no need for him to say much. Just a few words were enough to rouse an entire megaverse to battle. This was the true flagbearer of the Tianyuan Megaverse.
While the Origin Progenitor had protected the megaverse, his influence could not compare to Lu Yin’s. Lu Yin had had an incomparably deep impact on the Tianyuan Megaverse.
"Oh, right," Lu Yin spoke again.
The megaverse instantly fell silent again as everyone stared at the nearest display with blazing eyes, eager to hear Lu Yin’s next words.
A slight smile pulled at Lu Yin’s lips. "While they may have come here seeking death, this is still war. I hope that none of you will grow complacent.
"A declaration of war must also have a flag be raised."
A wave of Lu Yin’s hand opened a tear in the void. Death energy appeared in the tear, and it moved to drag a figure out, landing them on the ground in front of the Stairway to Heaven. A man fell in front of the large cauldron.
Tian Ci looked around in confusion. Is this the Heavens Sect?
Countless people were staring at him with frenzied, fanatic eyes. Their gazes caused the man’s scalp to tingle with fear.
