Chapter 113 - Signing Of Contract

The atmosphere was grave as if a despicable and unreasonable Queen was about to pa.s.s an unfair judgment. The air was tinged with a lingering apprehension towards a violent eruption.

Shen Yue had just finished recounting the incident when a loud bang shattered the tense atmosphere, so sudden that it made her jump but Shen Yue was not surprised.

The vase was the first object to be broken. But Shen Yue could tell it was not going to be the last.

"Are you saying were unable to sign her?" 

Shen Yue shuddered at the unkindly shrill tone. 

It was Shen Yue's misfortune that when she decided to enter the office, she encountered Chen Ying alone. If CEO Fu was in the office, at least Miss Chen would have restrained herself for the sake of appearing reasonable in his eyes.

But now, there was nothing holding Chen Ying back.

She could go all rampant and Shen Yue had to endure her violent temper.

"Ms. Chen, please calm down. It's not good for your complexion." Shen Yue earnestly said with a face full of flatteries, she was fairly panicked inside. "I only meant that our first meeting had been inconsequential. That pig-headed woman was too full of herself! She thinks 'Fu Entertainment' is way behind her standard. I was able to put up with her unreasonable behavior because of Miss Chen Ying's request to sign her."

"But the line was crossed when she went on to drag Miss Chen Ying's name through the mud. Miss Chen Ying is the star of Fu Entertainment. She spouted slanders regarding Ms. Chen's relationship with the CEO. I could not tolerate and ended up saying a few unprofessional words to her. When she found out that her defamations couldn't fool others and she was, instead, insulted by everyone, she left the restaurant in anger." Shen Yue was a senior Manager. She was smart, knowing the precise words for every circ.u.mstance.

As she had expected, her words made Chen Ying frown, her anger slowly dissipating.

'That shameless b.i.t.c.h still goes on slandering me in the public?' 

Having the stain of 'stealing another woman's man' would always be on Chen Ying. If the fact was brought in the public, it would be like pouring acid over her wound.

Thinking about that, Chen Ying felt suffocated with anger. She wanted to slap Chen Yi at this instant.

'Good. It is good that this Shen Yue at least taught her a lesson.'

Chen Ying felt delighted a.s.suming that her cousin must have run out, embarra.s.sed, and insulted when Shen Yue refused to believe her words. 

Shen Yue observed that Chen Ying appeared to have calmed that and she secretly sighed in relief.

"She thinks 'Fu Entertainment' is way beyond her standard?" Chen Ying mumbled; those words struck her hard.

'No, I must get her in 'Fu Entertainment'

I must chain her, restrain her, not allow her any opportunity!

If she succeeds to ascend, she would only bring me trouble.'

With that thought, Chen Ying's anger was replaced with determination. "Regardless," She said, "You must get that woman to sign the contract. I won't entertain any excuses. Leave." Chen Yi waved her hand, messaging her head with her hand.

As soon as Shen Yue left the room, she sucked in a deep breath.

That was close.

Shen Yue had purposely gone to Chen Ying with the news of her inability to sign Chen Yi, Shen Yue wanted to test the waters.

Turned out, Chen Ying would not settle without singing her cousin.

It was either Shen Yue signed Chen Yi or this Chen Ying would make her life miserable. Shen Yue smiled bitterly.

"Manager Shen, what happened?" Her a.s.sistant worriedly inquired finding her Boss in a bad mode.

"Prepare the contract as that Chen Yi had demanded." With a sigh, Shen Yue said.

The a.s.sistant eyes widened. "Are you talking about that insolent n.o.body?"

"Who else? Who else could dare to have me modify the contract?"

"But..." The a.s.sistant hesitated. "We will have to get the CEO signatures for that."

"That's not a problem. Chen Ying would help with that."

"But if something happens in the future, the contract with loose clauses can get you in trouble." The a.s.sistant thoughtfully said.

"Just do what I told you to." Shen Yue was getting annoyed. 

Did she not know that? A loose contract will definitely land her in trouble.

But if she failed to get Chen Yi to sign the contract, Chen Ying would force her to resign first. 

With how intolerating Chen Ying was, she would not think twice before whispering a few sweet words to the CEO and have Shen Yue kicked out.

Shen Yue would naturally opt to choose the lesser of two evils.

In any way, what could Chen Yi even do with a loose contract? n.o.body knew her, she was a novice unknown in every field. How would Chen Yi even manage to get her hands over any opportunity?

Flashes of the memories of the last night gradually returned to Chen Yi. Of all the things, nothing was particularly striking. Nothing but a certain one thing.

 It was the memory of that man; Tian Xue.

And his words.

'If you are as wise as to claim to have become, you will know what to do.'

His words held deep meaning.

But what was she supposed to do?

The man who had finally managed to climb over those walls around her heart, the man who could bring a smile of pure happiness over her face, how could she force herself to run away from him?

Chen Yi sighed, getting to her feet. 

The ringtone of her phone interrupted her thoughts. Her eyes flickered, she found a name flashing over the screen. Taking a sip of the warm cup of coffee, she swiped the screen.

"Miss. Chen, I have considered your words." Unlike the last time, it was not her a.s.sistant but Shen Yue herself who spoke with Chen Yi. 

Shen Yue was still testing Chen Yi. If she detected timidness in Chen Yi's tone, she would grasp it as a sign of weakness. Then, there might be a chance to persuade Chen Yi to sign the contract without the term of independently accepting the jobs. 

"Is that so?" Chen Yi's voice was cool; there was not the slightest hint of urgency or antic.i.p.ation in her voice.

Her tone conveyed her intent fair and well — either tell her that you accepted her condition or she would hang up — no regrets or looking back.

At this, Shen Yue sighed in defeat.

This woman was sharp. Shen Yue even had a feeling that Chen Ying might be committing the gravest mistake of her life by bringing her cousin in the company. 

"We will have a meeting at the same restaurant and directly sign the contract." Shen Yue said after great difficulty.

Chen Yi scoffed. "Fine with me." With that said, she took the initiative to hang up.

A few days later, the contract was signed.
