C349 – Falling into the Sea
Posted on April 8, 2019 by AzureOrchid92
After the third lock was successfully unlocked, he could only leave it to Sapphire.
Originally, Shao Xuan thought he would be able to get the results in a short time. However, after unraveling the third lock, Sapphire went into a sleep-like state. It had no reaction to the outside world, under a state similar to hibernation.
Shao Xuan was not at ease. He planned to wait longer, but he heard the Jinjiawei’s movement.
Shao Xuan had some admiration for the obsession of those chasing him.
This was already the tenth day. In addition to looking for food and a short rest, the rest of the Jinjiawei’s time was in pursuit. Not only those Jinjiawei, even what they’re riding that look like camels or horses also have excellent patience. They were cold and heat resistant, could carry weight and last for a long time running. As for Shaqi City and Skywheel City who had been following closely behind the Jinjiawei, they were being left the farther away they had chased.
Seeing that Sapphire still has not moved, Shao Xuan chose not to carry it while running away. After all, those people and beasts chasing him were not after the beetle. Lifting Sapphire, he placed it on the sand dunes and dug the sand around Sapphire to cover it.
The Bi Luos identified that their target was Shao Xuan, therefore, for other things aside from Shao Xuan, they did not care at all and ignored.
The team chased Shao Xuan, bringing up a burst of dust. The Bi Luos issued a sharp crying sound, flapping its wings and pointing its long nose straight at Shao Xuan.
When the dust dissipated, the place was restored to its original appearance. The violent wind sc.r.a.ped the sand from the sand dunes to other places. Soon, there was no sign of movement.
Shao Xuan felt like he had found this dead end on his own.
Escaping to the left, he’d face the jurisdiction of Shaqi City, to the right was the position of Skywheel City. Moreover, he was now able to see some minimal growth in the numbers of Skywheel City.
Shao Xuan also could not determine what he had been thinking, running this way in a daze. Waiting for a miracle, only to find that he had stupidly put himself in a dead end. He knew that he should not be negligent of his escape. The desert was so huge, that even if he took a detour to the back of those Jinjiawei, then he could still find a chance to run back and break open this situation. However, after he had a run up, Shao Xuan felt his consciousness being controlled, directly making him run forward.
There were birds flying in the sky. It was not the wild birds in the desert, but the domesticated birds of the people of Skywheel City. There were even people on the backs of the birds.
Although Skywheel City has not launched a fierce large-scale war with other cities and only had a small friction with Shaqi City, they were also affected by the tension in the desert. Every day, there were long-distance patrol teams out to search. Now, Shao Xuan had encountered these Skywheel City patrol team.
On the right, there was the Skywheel City patrol team with an ambush. Behind was the pursuit of the Jinjiawei, while in front, was a cliff by the sea.
Normally, it would be the time for a normal person to run to the left. However, Shao Xuan actually ran straight ahead.
At the moment, Shao Xuan felt his legs were not like his own, uncontrollably running straight forward. His mind did not think of other stuff, until the moment he jumped. Shao Xuan suddenly woke up. Unfortunately, he had already jumped…
“I’m an idiot…”
Jumping from a height, he fell hard into the blue sea and sank.
Shao Xuan felt as if someone was dragging him down as he continued falling straight under water.
The surrounding sea water’s temperature was much lower compared to the desert outside. From the hot sand to coming suddenly in contact with the sea water, the more he sunk, the colder he felt. The difference made Shao Xuan shiver uncontrollably. Originally, he had intended to go upstream but found that his actions had little effect.
The surrounding water current was too strong.
Such a current made Shao Xuan’s scalp numb. He was too aware of what such a current represented. It had choked his breath and hindered the movements of his arms.
Thereupon, a huge figure from afar came near. The light dropping from above the sea allowed Shao Xuan to see the markings on it, as well as the fangs that are exposed from that huge mouth. Shao Xuan couldn’t even match one of the other’s teeth.
It has no claws, but its fin-shaped limbs did not lower the power of this beast. Then, being stared at by those eyes, the timid probably would have all his soul fly away. The other side seemed uninterested in Shao Xuan’s little presence, and just swam around but was not leaving.
What made Shao Xuan even more desperate was that, after he stopped struggling, he dropped faster. Even if his ability to hold his breath was good, it was impossible to keep it up indefinitely under the sea.
If he went on like this, he won’t be able to leave here alive.
At this time, on the cliff above the sea, the Jinjiawei that had closely chased him had gathered on the edge of the cliff, looking at the endless blue ocean. They did not follow and jump down. They were not that brainless. How could they go down, just to look for death?
The riding beasts seemed to feel the pressure beneath the sea and treaded uneasily on their hooves.
Soothing their riding beasts, the Jinjiawei led everyone out to guard separately, seeing that Shao Xuan could not run nor take off now.
Meanwhile, the people of Skywheel City ambushing in the sky were stunned by Shao Xuan’s move. Unexpectedly, he just ran straight to the cliff and jumped from above! Was this wishing for death or something else?
The beast in the sea seemed to perceive that there were many people moving on top of the cliff, which made it very unhappy. It went out of the water and flipped over, giving a roar that made the rocks on the cliff almost fall.
Even if they were not afraid that they’d fall, the Jinjiawei could not help but move their riding beasts back several steps. Not far away, the patrol team in the sky moved more simply, directly backing off by 100 meters. As they had long been living near this area, they knew exactly what’s down there. It’s an unshakable creature, far from being comparable to the monsters of the desert.
The Jinjiawei, who was ordered by the king to kill the intruder, lingered on the edge of the cliff for two days. When they did not see Shao Xuan again, they inferred that Shao Xuan should have been swallowed by the sea beast. Therefore, did they indirectly completed the king’s orders?
On the third day, the Jinjiawei moved out with a wave of a hand, “Let’s go back! The task is done, and it’s natural that we go back.”
As for the patrol team of Skywheel City, they would have liked to rob the Jinjiawei of their body equipment, but in the end, still did not have the guts. They hesitated a bit, then saw the Jinjiawei had already gone far.
“Forget it. Let’s wait for a chance next time,” said a man from Skywheel City. They did not have many people in this patrol team. Their number was not much more than the Jinjiawei, so if they really wanted to fight, they might lose.
“Do you think that the man who jumped was eaten by the beast, or he just sank?” Someone asked.
“Forget him. He’s just a madman.”
The patrol team of Skywheel City also returned. Their trip was still calm. The road to their city was also smooth, while the Jinjiawei on the other side was not as lucky. They returned along the original path they took but they were blocked by a group of bugs.
Looking around, large swathes of black beetles covered the sand.
Peng!
On a sand dune, the yellow sand exploded.
A blue-sh.e.l.led figure gradually emerged, and another beetle made an appearance. The originally calm wave of black bugs surged up like waves.
On the side of Snowfield City, there was a heavy loss since someone had attacked the palace. The rarely wounded Snowfield King was sitting with an inscrutable face. He calculated the number of days, thinking why the Jinjiawei he had sent out had not come back yet.
Go, Sapphire! ❀(*´▽`*)❀
