A girl stood by the window, looking at the familiar scenery outside for the last time.
The man standing by the door could not help but appreciate the scene.
The girl was beautiful and the natural sunlight that lit up her frame made her appear somewhat ethereal; as if she was not from this world. Her thin and slender figure adorned by a billowy white skirt added to the sense of ethereality. After a year of dedicated treatment regime, she seemed to have blossomed into an even more beautiful young lady. Previously, she still had some baby fat in her cheeks, but now that she had lost them, she seemed sharper and more adult-like. It made people feel somewhat reluctant to call out to her and destroy the picturesque scene.
A soft smile graced her lips, her eyes half-lidded as her gaze flitted from one point to another. It looked as if she was reminiscing a nice memory.
Finally, after slowly phasing out of his daze, the man opened his mouth to speak, "Are you sure you don't want to stay here longer?" He asked worriedly, thinking that it had not been long since she recovered. Wouldn't it be better to stay for a few more weeks, just in case?
The girl finally noticed his presence. With a slight smile, she shook her head, "No need. I'm fine now. Even Dr. Hong said that I'm as good as normal. She says it's fine to leave as long as I come back every once in a while to see her."
She walked towards the man, looping her arms around his and resting her head on his shoulders as if it was a natural thing, "Besides, your university is too far from here. It's better to get a house closer to your university, right? We should go house-hunting before your degree starts, Oppa." She batted her eyes cutely at him.
"Okay," the man smiled helplessly, stroking the spoiled girl's head. "Should we go now?"
"Where?"
"I thought you said you wanted to see Hyung? Wasn't today his visiting day?"
The girl pouted at the man's words. "It is, but Hyuk-oppa got sent to solitary confinement again. His visitation rights got revoked until next month," she sullenly explained.
"That dumb—" The man almost cussed, but stopped himself with a cough. "That idiot. What was he thinking? A whole year and the amount of times you were able to see him can be counted on one hand. Why does he keep getting into trouble?" He ranted.
Yeo Ri shrugged, "You know he can't stand provocation. I wish he'd learn to be more patient, though."
"He better be if he wants to see you again," Gun sneered.
"Oppa, do you still hate Hyuk-oppa? He's not that bad, you know?"
"I know. I don't hate him. I just think he's stupid," Gun said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Isn't he? He only ever makes stupid decisions," like going to jail and picking fights with other prisoners, Gun added silently in his mind.
Yeo Ri chuckled lightly. After so many months of not seeing Hyuk, she gradually got used to it. But still, she would eagerly wait for the next visitation day and would constantly write letters to him. Although Hyuk rarely responded, she knew he'd read every one of her letters.
"But he's street smart, right?"
Gun snorted, "Street smart? Yeah, right."
"Oppa, you do know that he's older than you, right?"
"Yeah, so?" Gun smirked playfully. He had never treated Hyuk like an elder since a long time ago, and he wouldn't start now. "I'll treat him properly if he actually acts like the mature and responsible adult he's supposed to be."
Yeo Ri rolled her eyes. Even when they don't see each other, they were still fighting against one another. She wondered if they'd ever get along.
"We still have time before meeting Jin Goo-oppa and the rest. Should we go on a walk, Oppa?"
Gun checked the clock on his phone before nodding his head in agreement, "Yeah. Let's go, then."
"Ah, that's right." Gun halted his steps. He turned to look at the shorter girl, smiling dazzlingly, "Congratulations on your discharge, Yeo Ri-ah."
A similar smile bloomed on the girl's face. "Thanks, Oppa."
