Chapter 3.2: What Is Your Sign?
Xiao Zheng chose not to react to the knife Lin Huayin grasped in her hand because somehow, it vanished into thin air; there was no sign of it anywhere.
“A beautiful woman like you playing with knives really affects your sense of beauty.” He sneakily hid the knife that belonged to his soon-to-be-wife and clapped his hands without a care in the world. “Okay, let’s get back to business! I accept the terms and agreements. Give me a pen.”
Upon seeing Xiao Zheng readily agree, Lin Huaying sat back down on the sofa albeit trembling all over. Coldly, she said, “Lawyer Deng, give him a pen.”
Lawyer Deng quickly pulled out his pend and handed it to Xiao Zheng as droplets of cold beads of sweat formed on his temples. “Mr. Xiao, please sign on the last page.”
Xiao Zheng received the pen and wrote down his name, the speed of it too fast for the eyes.
Seeing the negotiations finally came to an end, Lawyer Deng sighed relievingly and pushed his gla.s.ses up the bridge of his nose and carefully asked, “Mr. Xiao, our Boss handed over all her personal information to you. I hope you will also prepare a personal report for us. After all, the agreement was limited to two conservative months. If both sides understand each other on an equal level, it’ll surely reduce the number of unnecessary misunderstandings.”
“My personal information?” Xiao Zheng tilted his head and rubbed his chin. “Hmm… Height: 1.8 meters… Tall and handsome… Good health… no bad habits…”
He blurted it out like it was his most precious treasure.
Xiao Zheng lit a cigarette and continued. “I love all kinds of flowers if you know what I mean… coughs… I like raising animals, practicing calligraphy, and reading some of the world’s most famous books whether it be modern or the pure cla.s.sics. With a roar of injustice, I’d draw my sword just as quick to save a beauty in need, the memories of my heroic sense of justice disappearing into the endless rivers of history! Hmm… in short… the most appropriate way to describe me is that I am a man of control and patience but also a man who can set the world on fire!”
“………”
Lawyer Deng should have never asked. The couth was exaggerating himself. Why did he have to askabout this guy’s personal data? The Boss never mentioned he had too either.
Agh! d.a.m.n it all!
d.a.m.n my big mouth!
“Do you have a job?” Lin Huayin suppressed her raging fury and questioned him coldly. From the tone of her voice, it sounded more like an interrogation of a prisoner.
“There are several companies in contact with me right now… coughs… they’ve offered me a plenty of positions to choose for my own liking, but as far as my personal habits are concerned, I’m feeling more or less inclined to reject as I find it too tiring and would impede on my private s.p.a.ce, so I haven’t yet given a formal answer to them.” Xiao Zheng said seriously.
“That means you don’t have one?” Lin Huayin hit the nail on the head.
“It’s only temporary.” Xiao Zheng emphasized.
“Lawyer Deng, check the company for any vacant positions.” Lin Huayin said coldly.
“Oi! What are you doing? Hey, are you looking down on me? What? Give it to me? I’m not ready to be a gigolo yet!” Xiao Zheng argued confidently, but he received no sort of response.
“The HR Department is short of a training manager,” Lawyer Deng replied. “The Finance Department is short of a cashier; the Security Department short of a security guard… these are the three most pressing problems the company faces at the moment.”
“Cough… I have shown great leadership since I was a child. I was a natural born conductor if I may add!” Xiao Zheng interfered with Lin Huaying’s decision. “The position of a training manager was a little overkill for me. Sigh… however, it is still the closest of the three positions to my true strength!”
“There’s no other jobs?” The Ice G.o.ddess frowned.
Her frown showed that she did not think Xiao Zheng was qualified for the above three opening positions.
“Ah, well, the Marketing Department’s cleaner resigned because her daughter-in-law was pregnant. The staff of the department recently complained about the work environment—”
“Hey! How can I a tall, handsome man be a cleaner? This is an insult to my character!” Xiao Zheng fumed with anger. “Even if you want me to start from the bottom down, at least give me the position of training manager! To tell you the truth, in the fifth grade of primary school, I received the price in my city’s Abacus Compet.i.tion!”
Lin Huayin’s lips twitched. She initially chose the position of cleaning for Xiao Zheng, but maybe it was because she grew tired of his constant blabbering or the words “daughter-in-law is pregnant” that hurt her sensitive nerves that she coldly said, “Go report to the Security Department. You work officially today.”
Xiao Zheng let out a long breath.
Well, this is the second best, he thought.
Though he did not become a training manager as he so wished, being a security guard wasn’t too bad. Work free and easy; a good match to his lazy lifestyle.
However, when he saw the looks of disdain, annoyance, and loathe in the eyes of the Ice G.o.ddess, Xiao Zheng’s heart was filled with rage.
Wasn’t it just one night? No one was forcing you! If you didn’t want it, why would I force myself on you? Do you have to treat me like a sc.u.m pervert? This is unfair!
Xiao Zheng knew the reason why she chose to gave him this job. She was afraid that he’d disappear and run away secretly when she’s not looking, but to him, it was a fortuitous encounter. He was looking for a job in times of this difficult economy and his “wife” just so happened to offer him one.
He should think of it as an honor, to become the guard of a company owned by one of the most beautiful woman in the country.
However, out of her look of indignation, Xiao Zheng sat up straight and looked at Lin Huayin solemnly whose face was full of cold, icy frost. “Since we are now husband and wife in contract, do you mind if I ask you a question?”
“Speak.”
“What’s your constellation?” Xiao Zheng asked curiously, a trace of playfulness glinting across his eyes. “What’s your star sign?”
She was startled, confused by his question, but however, in order to get rid of the b.a.s.t.a.r.d whose mouth had no filter, she casually said, “Virgo.”
“No you’re not.”
