Chapter 16: Fuchang Fusui?* (夫唱妇随)

At the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, the poker-faced man opened the car door for Jiang Beihan and Song Wenxin.

Song Wenxin, who was holding the marriage certificate, waved at him. “You don’t have to send me back. I can go back on my own.” Song

Wenxin said with a smile. With the things at home resolved, she suddenly felt her entire being relaxed.

After her voice fell, Jiang Beihan’s step stopped near the car. He frowned and then turned around to look at her.

“Go back?”

“Yes, I’ll take a taxi back home. Thank you very much for today!” She smiled at him with an innocent expression.

“Which home?” He asked her with a raised eyebrow.

This question left Song Wenxin stunned for a moment. Which home? She has only one home…

“Of course, my home!”

“Song’s?”

“Yes!”

“Song Wenxin, first of all, I want to remind you. We are now husband and wife. ’Fuchang fusui’*. Do you understand this sentence?” He asked her patiently. She was already married to him, yet she did not want to go home with him?

“What does it mean?” Song Wenxin looked at him, puzzled. She could not understand the meaning of his words.

Aren’t they a couple in name only? What does he want her to do?

“From now on, live in my house!” Seeing that she did not understand, he explained it to her in simpler words.

Song Wenxin’s eyes widened. They also have to live together?

“But, I have to go home every night, or else…. My parents would be worried…” She opened her mouth to explain.

“That has nothing to do with me. Get in the car!” He no longer spoke. Rather, he looked at the backseat of the sports car.

Song Wenxin hesitated for a moment, then finally got on the car.

Who let him help her with this big favor? She had no choice but to listen to him

After she got on the car, Jiang Beihan followed and sat beside her.

The door was closed and the car slowly left the Civil Affairs Bureau, driving back to the Mid-Levels Villa.

On the way, he did not speak a word. During the entire journey, his whole body remained relaxed while leaning on the back seat, his eyes were closed as if he was taking a nap.

Song Wenxin can only sit silently. She was thinking how to explain to her parents why she wouldn’t be able to go back and live at home.

It was already dark when they returned back to Jiang Beihan’s villa.

He got off the car and Song Wenxin followed him into the villa.

It was already evening but the lights inside the villa were still dimly lit.

Furthermore, the maids in the villa were seemed very weird. They were unusually quiet. Each time, only when Jiang Beihan comes back would they come out to greet, or when he was extremely busy,  the servants basically would not wander around the villa.

This made Song Wenxin feel very strange. However, Jiang Beihan was already strange enough that he living in a strange place would seem normal.

After returning to the villa, Jiang Beihan went straight to the dining area and sat on the dining table and started handling some business work.

He looked so busy.

“Sir, the dinner is ready.” At this time, a maid suddenly came over and spoke in a low voice.

After speaking, the maid looked astonished upon seeing Song Wenxin sitting beside him.

This made Song Wenxin somewhat surprised.

Jiang Beihan nodded his head.

“Can you lend me your phone? I would like to call home.” Song Wenxin finally could not help but open his mouth.

It’s late now and she haven’t called back.  Her family is definitely worried about her.

Jiang Beihan glanced at her and then suddenly called, “Shangguan!”

A moment later, the poker faced man appeared in the dining area.

Looking at Jiang Beihan’s eyes, he instantly understood. He took out a phone and handed it to Song Wenxin.
