Chapter 165: The move

On this day, there was no distinction between the Logistic or Combat Team. All of the men were in charge of moving the big and bulky items while the ladies moved the smaller items, or a few ladies would move one item together. The ladies were content with their situation as compared to how they were living previously. Although it could never compare to before the apocalypse, they were living far better under the authority of Brother Long. No one could insult them at will but instead, the Combat Team members that used to scold them started to win their favors. They had their own work as well, although they were mired in all the minor things, they were able to live with motivation. They were completely in support with Zhang Xiao Qiang, just that they harbored some grievances with him due to the fact that he had returned with so many other ladies, resulting in all the men that used to pamper them to diverse themselves and run to others. This made them jealous, and this jealousy was shared among the ladies that originally stayed in the chicken farm, but those that stayed in the granary had a completely different mindset.

They were stuck in a confined s.p.a.ce with a group of men who only knew how to rape them under the fear. Under the long and arduous months of ruin and insults, these pitiful women started to turn to despair like plants grown closely together without any nutrients or sunlight, waiting to wither into the ground.

When they saw the ruthless men after being saved by Vulture, they knew that their terrible lives were not over. And when they saw how the most ferocious men that used to bully them being beheaded, they finally let loose and cried. Their cries were for the past oppression, for their miserable lives and also for their unknown futures. They knew that after crying, they would continue to be oppressed. When they were sent to the chicken farm and Su Qian appeared, they did not follow Su Qian for they had accepted their fates, they were numbed to the point of having no resistance, they merely wanted to endure onwards until they could no longer do so.

Instead, their current life was like Heaven, there was no bullying from the men, they could work freely and could breath in the fresh and clean air without having to smell the stench from the zombies and corpses. They were already satisfied with all these, and when the men around started to fawn over them, they became afraid. A deep sense of fear had been born within their mind but they did not dare to reject them and could only endure the fear and disgust, forcing themselves to smile. But with the new ladies, the men that constantly loitered around them found new targets and left, so they finally felt at ease.

Zhang Xiao Qiang noticed that majority of the large items were loaded and only the smaller items were left. He carried the sleeping Yang Ke’er to the Land Rover and placed her in the car while Shangguan Qiao Yun supported Yuan Yi into the car. Yang Ke’er laid at the backseat and breathed comfortably. The three of them sat in a row with HuanYi in the corner and Shangguan Qiao Yun in the center. When Zhang Xiao Qiang saw Shangguan Qiao Yun seated beside him, he hesitated for a moment before moving to the front pa.s.senger seat.

The fleet of cars stopped at the car repair shop. Zhang Xiao Qiang got people to open the fuel tanker to extract all the remaining oil from within while he brought a few people to the secret base and retrieve all the firearms and supplies. He had gained clarity in his thoughts, When will I stop hiding by myself, alone? With all of these helpers and so many firearms, as long as I lead them carefully, it won’t be difficult for us to recapture a small village and seek out the h.o.a.rd of supplies that all the families have hidden. That’s a 100 times faster than bringing a few ladies to sweep the place. Zhang Xiao Qiang’s current position was different, his train of thoughts had changed and he became more far-sighted. He had formed his own ideas, just that it was still in its embryonic stage, a.s.sembling at WH City had always been his dream. Over a dozen men moved like ants migrating, shifting all the various goods and supplies out onto the trucks, as He Wen Bin stood by the side in a daze. He was the first person that had encountered Zhang Xiao Qiang and knew that at the start, Zhang Xiao Qiang only had a three-wheeled farmer cart worth of goods, but in the short span of less than a month, Zhang Xiao Qiang had unknowingly obtained so many supplies. Moreover, they were bountiful in variety, most of which were things they had requested from Brother Long but failed to achieve. When he saw trunks after trunks of firearms, his dazed expression turn to dumbstruck. Supplies were still common, but firearms were not, watching as countless of ammunition boxes covered in galvanized iron sheets, he ran over and looked at the countless of ammo revealed in his eyes, causing a light to ignite in his heart. Just a day ago, he was worried to death over the ammo count. But upon seeing the boxes, he became completely at ease. The tens of thousands of ammo were enough for them to fight a large scale battle, just that he was unclear as to how Zhang Xiao Qiang was able to uncover so much WWII antiques.

Military uniforms, helmets, leather holsters and belts, various sorts of first aid and expired medication to mortars, cold weapons, heavy machine guns which came after. All the Combat Team members started to cheer, all of them had faces of joy. Everyone knew what the heavy weapons meant, everyone was happy except for Yang Ke’er, she felt that her treasures were being shared with others. She looked at Zhang Xiao Qiang and revealed a saddened expression to which he understood well. Watching all the supplies that he and Yang Ke’er had painfully gathered and kept being revealed by others made him feel as though a knife had been pierced through his heart. But Su Qian already knew of the location, if she were to find the firearms, wouldn’t they be the one at a disadvantage?

A total of 10 trucks and 10 other vehicles used as transport moved as a fleet. Zhang Xiao Qiang’s large fleet looked like a plague of locusts taking and bringing any supplies or vehicles along the way. It didn’t even matter if the vehicles could not work, w.a.n.g Le used thick steel wires to tow these vehicles behind the trucks. Any wandering zombies that they encountered were easily shot down by the Combat Team. Everyone was trained and fully equipped well. Even Zhang Xiao Qiang had donned on an M1 Helmet, the 2kg plus steel helmet made him feel uncomfortable, and everyone else, including the policewomen, dressed in military uniform, leather belts with holsters and had the M1 Garands behind their backs.

He Wen Bin sat on the truck that carried the firearms, where Lu Ren Yi, w.a.n.g Le and the rest sat at the rear carriage to take inventory of the firearms. After the zombies on the road were taken down, the Combat Team formed smaller groups as the men on point took shields and blades and hacked the zombies lingering inside the houses, immediately followed up by the Logistic Team who moved whatever they saw, tools, bedding, furniture, food; Even the logs stored by the families were moved. Villages had not advanced to cremation, so all the logs were meant to be converted into coffins for the dead. All of these were all moved as well, as Zhang Xiao Qiang had given the order that whoever performed well would have meat to eat, which came from the preserved meat that they found in the village homes.

They continued this routine until they arrived at the spa in the evening. Two men that were left as guards watched as the fleet of vehicles zoomed in. The gates that no longer had electricity to open were manually opened, allowing the fleet to enter the spa. When the chicken farm people inside the vehicles saw the good environment of the spa, the heavy boulders of stress dropped from their minds. The spa was considerably concealed and safe.

Ignoring the rest, Zhang Xiao Qiang’s Rover sent him to the largest building in the villa. Zhang Xiao Qiang carried Yang Ke’er felt emotions surging as they looked at the European style building in front of them. We finally have our own home. Although he had stayed for a period of time, this European building would forever belong to him. When Yang Ke’er saw the villa, she became happy and got Zhang Xiao Qiang to put her down. She walked leisurely over to the dried up lawn and looked at the tranquil lake. At that moment, the twilight of the setting sun shone from her back, making her look like a little fairy that had descended from the Heavens. She was especially beautiful at that moment.
