Book 6: Chapter 31: Big Wedding
The wedding of Bai Qiuran and Jiang Lan soon began under the urging of the Emperor of Heaven. It was obvious that the Eastern Emperor Taiyi really wanted to get rid of the trouble named Jiang Lan as soon as possible.
The wedding was held in Bai Qiuran’s shrine. Due to poor popularity, Jiang Lan’s guests were a few maids who came to send a blessing from a certain G.o.ddess. But on Bai Qiuran’s side, because he generously distributed the reward of the emperor during this period, so when the wedding was held, even if it was unhappy, many G.o.ds came to congratulate him.
Even the heavenly G.o.ds he hadn’t seen before had come a lot.
The two followed the process of the G.o.ds’ wedding in this era. After taking off the simple animal skin jacket and putting on the phoenix crown and red dress, Jiang Lan’s beautifulness really surprised Bai Qiuran.
When the wedding was over, Bai Qiuran, who had sent away the guests to celebrate, soon received an invitation from the Emperor of Heaven.
Eastern Emperor Taiyi set up a banquet and invited him and Jiang Lan to go to heaven to celebrate his wedding.
With Jiang Lan’s help, Bai Qiuran went to the Heavenly Palace quickly. After arrived, they were soon taken by some G.o.ds to an exquisite garden.
“Wait a minute.”
Standing at the entrance of the garden, Jiang Lan called Bai Qiuran, and then took the initiative to hold his hand.
Bai Qiuran looked at her suspiciously, Jiang Lan paused and replied:
“At least in front of the Eastern Emperor Taiyi, we have to pretend to be as intimate as possible.”
The two entered the garden hand in hand. Here, the Emperor of Heaven had already set up a banquet, and the Emperor himself was hidden behind a curtain. When Bai Qiuran came with Jiang Lan, he smiled:
“Yes, it seems that the two newlyweds are very affectionate.”
“Bai Qiuran has seen your Majesty.”
Bai Qiuran stopped and arched his hand towards Eastern Emperor Taiyi behind the curtain.
“Jiang Lan has seen your Majesty.”
Jiang Lan also learned Bai Qiuran’s posture and bowed to Eastern Emperor Tai.
“You two can stand up now.”
Eastern Emperor Tai smiled and said:
“Take a seat.”
Bai Qiuran took Jiang Lan by the hand and came to the left side of the Emperor’s head, where the two low tables were specially arranged by the Emperor.
At the banquet, there were some other G.o.ds who were invited to come. These G.o.ds were all weird, but they all had some human characteristics. Except for Lu Wu, Bai Qiuran didn’t know the other G.o.ds.
“Those are the four Heavenly Kings.”
Jiang Lan introduced to Bai Qiuran in a low voice:
“There are other righteous G.o.ds in charge of the Nine Departments of Heaven.”
After seeing Bai Qiuran sitting down, these G.o.ds also bowed to Bai Qiuran and Jiang Lan one after another, and Bai Qiuran also returned the gifts one by one. After the courtesy, the emperor said:
“Since Marshal Bai took office, he has successfully quelled the rebellion many times and strengthened my heavenly reputation. In the previous period, he got rid of Xing Tian and made great contributions. Today, Marshal Bai and Jiang Lan, the perfect match between a talented G.o.d and a beautiful G.o.ddess, become a couple. It happens that there is a group of dragons and phoenixes going wild in the Western. So the Western Heavenly King captured them for me, which happened to be my congratulation to Marshal Bai and Jiang Lan’s wedding.”
Sitting behind the curtain, Eastern Emperor Taiyi finished speaking and clapped his hands. Soon there was a subordinate G.o.d who pushed in a huge cage from outside the garden. Inside the cage were several ailing dragons and phoenixes.
The G.o.d pushed the dragon and phoenix into the middle of the garden, and then began to sharpen the knife and prepare to slaughter.
Bai Qiuran’s expression remained as usual. He had considered this situation a long time ago, but Jiang Lan raised her eyebrows somewhat uncomfortably.
Seeing that the G.o.d opened the cage and grabbed a golden dragon from the cage, the dragons and phoenix in those cages also began to struggle, begging for mercy, wailing, and yelling.
But the Eastern Emperor Taiyi and the surrounding heavenly G.o.ds looked as usual, and the heavenly emperor even smiled and introduced to Bai Qiuran and Jiang Lan:
“The fresh dragon’s livers and phoenix’s gallbladders are some of the best delicacies in this world. Even I rarely have the opportunity to taste them. The two of you are really lucky. Of course, I also want to thank Western Heavenly King for providing these dragons and phoenixes to us.”
A G.o.d with a white tiger head smiled and arched his hands to the surrounding G.o.ds.
Amidst the screams, the G.o.ds were very skillful in cramping the dragon and phoenix skins in the cage, taking out the liver and gallbladder from their bodies, and after some treatment by the waiters on the side, they put on a tray and brought them to the front of the deities.
The other G.o.ds had already begun to enjoy it, but Bai Qiuran looked at the hot, blood-stained liver and gallbladder in front of him, found that he had no appet.i.te at all.
It’s not that he couldn’t accept eating parts of dragons and phoenixes. Anyway, they were not of the same race, but the Emperor of Heaven has to pull these talking dragons and phoenixes in front of them to slaughter, and also eat certain parts of their bodies raw, which was very savage and out of appet.i.te.
He turned his head to look at Jiang Lan and saw her staring at the silver plate in front of him.
“Ha, for so many years, Jiang Lan’s bad habit has not changed.”
Behind the curtain, the shadow of Eastern Emperor Taiyi put down his chopsticks and said with a smile:
“It’s a pity, there are so many delicacies in this world, but I’m afraid Jiang Lan won’t be blessed with its taste.”
The other G.o.ds also began to laugh, Bai Qiuran looked up and looked around, only to see a circle of blood on their mouths, as if he had not come to the residence of the celestial G.o.ds, but a gathering of a group of savages drinking blood.
“Sorry, Your Majesty.”
He held Jiang Lan’s shoulder and said to Eastern Emperor Taiyi:
“My wife seems to be a little unwell…”
“Marshal Bai still be soft to beauties. Haha, I know.”
Eastern Emperor Taiyi’s voice sounded a little pity.
“Never mind, Jiang Lan and you are newly married. In that case, Marshal Bai, you should take Jiang Lan back so that you two can be lovey-dovey.”
Bai Qiuran got up and retired. Amidst the goodwill and meaningful laughter of the G.o.ds, he helped Jiang Lan out of the garden and left the palace all the way.
After waiting outside the Milky Way, Jiang Lan’s expression immediately improved. She took Bai Qiuran’s handkerchief, wiped her mouth, and then asked:
“See? This is the G.o.ds of this age.”
“Eating raw meat and drinking blood, are they not afraid of getting sick?”
Bai Qiuran frowned and said in disgust:
“It’s just a bunch of barbarians.”
He looked at Jiang Lan and asked:
“Aren’t you sick now?”
“I’ve seen a lot of it a long time ago. Quite disgusting, but it shouldn’t be so nausea.”
Jiang Lan calmly wiped her mouth clean, and then cleaned up the handkerchief with her own power.
“If I don’t pretend to be disgusting, you must have eaten the raw liver before they let you go. Are you not disgusting?”
Bai Qiuran recalled the raw dragon liver that was placed in front of him, with a strong b.l.o.o.d.y smell, and suddenly said:
“No need to say thanks.”
Jiang Lan looked at the dark starry sky beside him and said:
“You and I are now gra.s.shoppers on the same rope, sharing both prosperous and damaged. To help you is to help myself.”
